The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly  @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.

Stacking The Shelves is also a weekly meme hosted by  Tynga’s Reviews and Marlene from Reading Reality.  It’s all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.

gardenSunday was spent mostly spent blog visiting and with COYER book club.  Monday, I was trying to get some outdoor projects in before the rain.  I did find all the pavers and bricks in the back yard and move them to the corner where I am planting the shade plants to use as a border.  I raked up the leaves into a pile.  I got the new compost bin filled with leaves and kitchen scraps.  Then I did some digging in the shady corner, which since it is rock was terribly hard work and not all that successful.

gardenTuesday, it was supposed to rain but it pushed off until evening, so it was much easier to get out all the garbage, recycle and yard waste.  I trimmed a bunch of bushes and tree limbs over the driveway to fill up the yard waste.  I had cancelled my Kindle Unlimited because I didn’t want to pay $9.99 a month.  I was sad and looked for a deal by googling online.  I found one with 6 months for $29.97 which is half price and snapped it up.

garden

Wednesday with the rain ended for a few days, it was back to outdoor projects starting with the garden bed expansion. The yard was very muddy and I turned into a mudball after raking leaves, putting leaves and dirt into the bed expansion.  I dug out more of the shady corner but that rock and clay is tough going, but it was a bit easier after the rain.  I did get the broccoli planted in the garden expansion.

Thursday, it’s October! I had the new month activities to do.  The weather continued to be gorgeous. I’m behind reading so I am writing my post the day before – ugh. One of the neighbors is ordering Biden signs for the neighborhood so I’m getting one.  I planted the spinach today. There was more work on the gutters and patching cracks in the siding.  And more digging in the shady bed.

Friday, my daughter had a chiro / massage appointment. Then I picked up takeout for us.  After lunch, my daughter, her dad and Lulu went for a walk.  The weather has been gorgeous.  Then Lulu took her nap. Shameless.

Saturday, the weather continued cool and sunny. It should be around 70F  (68C)  all week with no rain predicted.  I did a lot of review setups.

I finished the 3 books for my Series in a Month Challenge!  I had odd parts of the series remaining- books 2,4, and 5 (which is releasing in October)

The Wyoming Cowboy series by Jessica Clare

2 – The Cowboy and His Baby

4 – The Cowboy Meets His Match

5 –   Her Christmas Cowboy

September Reading:  I had an outstanding reading month.  I managed to read 32 books. Audiobooks continue to help me read more. Some count for more than one challenge.  I listened to  14 audiobooks, read 8 library books, 23  COYER reads,   and  5  books which I already own.

All Library books (including ones not reviewed on the blog)  2020 Library Love Challenge

Bookish Resolutions update:   I’ve not had a great year with breaking down my tasks.  I read many library books I just wanted to read, however.  I created post shells as I got ARCs. I’m still just getting started on the Library Love emails but it is interesting to do.

I did manage to read 5 books I own (goal is 3 per month):

  • Broken World by Kate L. Mary
  • Run by Gillian Zane
  • SHFT by Gillain Zane
  • Silence Fallen by Patricia Briggs
  • Hounded by Kevin Hearne

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.  These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):

Thanks so much to Berkley Romance.

(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)

I had some promotional credits from Amazon so I pre-ordered this one from Kimberly Kincaid for 99¢.  Then there was the Stranger Diaries as an Audible Daily deal for $4, another Daily deal Brave Girl, Quiet Girl for $3.

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT  they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

If you like this and want to see me do the Sunday post, as often as I can manage, leave me a comment and let me know.

  1. Lulu is just adorable ? And your yard is looking nicely spruced.

Congrats on that Kindle Unlimited deal! I never would have thought to go looking for one. I bought that Hyde book as part of the Audible promotion to get a cash coupon for using credits. I had accumulated eight of them and used 6 to get $15. I save up my credits for promotions. You got some GREAT bargains.

    Have a wonderful week, Anne?

    • Thank you! I probably spend too much time looking for things but I figured a quick Google search wouldn’t hurt. It did the trick. Prime Day is coming up in a few weeks and I thought I would look then if it didn’t work out. I like to save my credits for Audible promotions too. But I also use them when I need them. The 2-1 sales don’t always have the things I want. I just read everything and do the best I can at the time. You have a great week – the weather is my favorite.

    • I hear you on not really needing KU. I mean I do get ARCs and the library is excellent. I most use KU for series starters and there are some things which are only there or when they are there for a short time it is less expensive than buying them. It’s probably not cost effective but I like having it. Thank you! These fall / spring seasons have the best moderate weather.

    • Thanks! Trust you to get to the key thing – the hot cover. It definitely had me giving it a second look. I don’t notice covers so much with doing everything digital. So many things I am doing in the yard / garden will have a long term benefit. The perennials only need to be planted once and then they require minimal watering and weeding. I have 3 peonies and an everblooming lilac yet to arrive.

    • Thank you so much! The weather is amazing so it’s easier to be out working. Many things I am doing are for long-term advantages. It’s not like I am doing something else. My daughter and I did place a big yarn order though which is bad on my part because I haven’t been knitting even. But it is a closeout of a yarn I love.

  2. I LOVE the picture where Lulu ´s tongue is showing – Great! It made me laugh and that was what I needed. So thank you for that. I know what you are talking about. Digging through hard soil is not much fun. Even after some rain. I am still getting out the weeds and preparing my spot for the peony. Glad you found a new deal. Saving money is always good. Happy reading and stay safe and busy *smile*

  3. Sounds like a productive week! Rocky soil is the worst to work with. Hard work. When I was a kid we lived in farm country and every year we had a rock picking party, where we’d go out and pick the rocks that the soil had pushed up (sometimes they were like boulders!) so they could go out and plant. It was a lot of work. I know not the same thing, but it made me think of it.

Yay for the Biden signs ? everytime I see one I get hopeful. Even though Texas is less likely to turn blue. NC though… Y’all have a shot!

Lulu is too cute! Thanks again for the Goodreads info. I may have questions! Have a great week!

  4. I love your garden pics, I badly need to work on mine but the weather is putting me off!

Lulu is adorable, my Fern is in a similar position as I write this!

I cancelled my KU subscription as it was too expensive, it’s £7.99 here which I think is just over $10, but out of curiosity I had a look just now and I’ve managed to get two months free, happy days!

    Have a good week.

  5. I canceled Kindle Unlimited this week as well. I wish I had actually used it while I had it but there is always next time. It looks like you were able to get a lot of things done around the house. We have a lot of outdoor projects planned for the spring. Lulu is adorable! Have a great week!

  6. Nice productive week. I like the garden beds they look great. I also signed up for KU. I got the same deal you did.
    Have a great week.

    • There is always more I want to do but I don’t always feel motivated. Luckily today is a motivated day compared to the weekend because there is more clay/rock to dig. And I have many, many other tasks I want to do. I’m glad you were able to get a KU deal too. I like having it even if I don’t use it consistently. Have a wonderful week! After this project period while the ex is here and the weather is good for this yard work, I’ll move back inside by November more and get the next year stuff sorted with you and do some work ahead.

  7. I have Kindle Unlimited, but it looks like I need to look up your deal. Love your garden beds. I need to re-work everything for mine, and it’s such a mess right now because I’ve let it go with the horrible heat and smoke that prevailed over the Summer. I just couldn’t be motivated to get outside to garden. Lulu’s nap photo cracks me up!

I’ve seen good things about Elly Griffiths. I was going to buy that Audible deal and then forgot. Oh well.

    • Lulu cracks me up all the time. But yes we have several of those photos; it’s her preferred sleeping position. Obviously, she feels safe with us. I don’t blame you. I waited until it was in the 70s to get out for yard work. This week is just amazing weather and so was last week. It’s great to have it. I love spring and fall here and fortunately the really hot and really cold periods only last about 3-4 months total. And the cold here is nothing compared to Minnesota cold, it’s more like MN fall. I’m so happy to have the 3 garden seasons.

I try really hard to watch the daily deals but I sometimes miss one I wanted too. I really struggle to force myself not to buy it if it is available at the library too.

  8. Wow, look at that gorgeous garden! Congrats on finding that KU deal. I keep telling myself I will get it one day but I have so many other books I’m reading right now that I haven’t got to it yet! Maybe next year?

I hope you have another good week this week and thank you for stopping by my blog!

    • Thanks for visiting Di. I’m loving the weather and trying to get the perennials planted this year. We moved here last summer and I was too busy / exhausted to tackle planting last fall. There are lots of KU deals that are free for a month or two, you could cancel after that and get another one later. I always end up not using it and then being mad at myself. This year I am making an effort to read books I own also. I need to add a KU component while I have it as well. It should be good listening while doing all the yard work.

  9. Your yard looks great and Lulu looks comfy. We’ve had nice weather here too and I wish it was like this year round.
Enjoy your books, I loved Brave Girl, Quiet Girl.

  10. The work you’ve done on your yard looks really good, Anne! I envy you your rain. We need it so desperately. Lulu is adorable. I miss having a dog sometimes. I suggested to my husband we adopt another one, but he is strongly opposed. He’s not much of a dog person. I was raised with dogs and have always loved them. He with cats. I came to love cats after we got married, but alas, I couldn’t quite sell him on dogs. He did love our Riley though.

It looks like you had an excellent reading month in September! Yay for good books! I hope you enjoy all your new books. 🙂 Have a great week and month, Anne.

    • Thank you! Lulu is awesome. I thought I wouldn’t want another dog after Gina got old and died, because I wanted to travel. My daughter was adamant though and we couldn’t be happier with Lulu. I’m very allergic to cats so that won’t happen. The yard work continues this week. Next year will be even more exciting with blooming. Of course in November we will have lettuce, broccoli and spinach. I get so many great books.

  11. One day, I’ll actually remember to dial into the COYER book club at the end of the month… It’s the time difference that usually catches me out!

Glad things see to be okay with you and yours! I’ve been awol so I’m slowly catching up. 🙂

    • We keep going along as we can. It’s a weird time. I love COYER. I asked them about moving it to a bit earlier so you and Linda and some others might be able to join. I think it’s like 10pm the way it is now but we could probably move it up 2 hours if we talked about it. I’m going to try to remember to mention it.
