When FBI Special Agent Griffin "Decker" Davenport wakes from his coma, he is desperate to find the missing children he knows are in danger. At the end of his last investigation, when he thought it was all over and justice had been served, he discovered that not everyone had been rescued, but he was shot before he was able to tell anyone.

Special Agent Kate Coppola has recently moved to Cincinnati. She says she's chasing a promotion but she's actually running away from heartache. She's found the recordings from Decker's time undercover and has been at his side in the hospital while she tries to put together the pieces of the crime he was investigating—and what connection it has to his own mysterious past.

When someone tries to kill Decker in his hospital bed, he and Kate realize that the children are not the only ones whose lives are threatened, and that they must stop at nothing to hunt down the perpetrators. And danger is waiting in every dark corner.

I’ve looked forward to each book in the Romantic Suspense series and enjoyed them. I started with Closer Than You Think believing it was the first in a spin-off series. It was originally listed as Faith Corcoran #1 but this changed and she is just briefly in the next 2 books. So, it is more like the Cincinnati section within the larger series as it is now titled. I happily went back and read the previous 15 books, before going on to review Alone in the Dark last year.  Now, a year later,  is Every Dark Corner.

These books are looooong, but so interesting they go quickly. The characters are wonderful in the depth of their development and emotional connections. I was frustrated this time with not remembering details about some characters. It made me crazy and less absorbed into the story. The bad guys are doing gut-wrenching things, so the suspense and action are high. There is a romance and the stage seems set for another romance.

Kate Coppola and Griffin “Decker” Davenport are the key couple. Both have just had their lives turned around and are starting a new path. They have things in common and fit well. Everything goes faster in romantic suspense; the emotional height of danger of life-and-death situations speeds up the relationship process. Somehow, it worked for me intellectually but emotionally I didn’t feel them. I liked them and enjoyed this, maybe it’s just I didn’t fall for Decker?

The criminals are disgusting which lead to my warning. A very good but dark tale which I recommend. Certainly, I’ll continue with every new one from this author.
