He's got five rules
And she's aiming to break them all

Rodeo producer Cole Jacobs has his hands full running Jacobs Livestock. He can't afford to lose a single cowboy, so when cousin Violet offers to send along a more-than-capable replacement, he's got no choice but to accept. He expects a grizzled Texas good ol' boy.

He gets Shawnee Pickett.

Wild and outspoken, ruthlessly self-reliant, Shawnee's not looking for anything but a good time. It doesn't matter how quickly the tall, dark and quiet cowboy gets under her skin—Cole Jacobs deserves something real, and Shawnee can't promise him forever. Life's got a way of kicking her in the teeth, and she's got her bags packed before tragedy can knock her down. Too bad Cole's not the type to give up when the going gets tough...

I have not read the first two books in the Texas Rodeo series. Usually, I wouldn’t just jump in out of order. I didn’t feel lost. I’m sure I would have appreciated some of the other characters more though, if I had. The two previous couples were Violet and Joe, and Tori and Delon.  Of course, I would be more familiar with the world of Jacobs Livestock. I don’t read many Western type romances so this was a nice change for me.

Cole is in charge of the rodeo this summer. He has lost his regular pickup man. Violet sends him a pickup woman, Shawnee, who is always an irritation to him. Being autistic, Cole doesn’t talk a lot and likes his routines. This aspect was handled well. Shawnee is used to being on her own with no support. I like how their differences end up working to their advantage.

Cole really grows, learns more about himself and I love this. Shawnee had more trouble accepting the changes in her life, and I am never as happy when someone isn’t honest with themselves (or others). Her long-time friend and business partner, Tori, tells it like it is. Wowza!    I am going to have to go back and read the first two books, so I will be set for Fearless in Texas, Melanie and Wyatt’s story, on April 3, 2018.

About Kari Lynn Dell

KARI LYNN DELL brings a lifetime of personal experience to writing western romance. She is a third-generation rancher and rodeo competitor who works on the family ranch in northern Montana, inside the Blackfeet Nation. She exists in a perpetual state of horse-induced poverty along with her husband, Max and Spike the (female) Cowdogs, a few hundred cows and a son who resides on the same general segment of the autism spectrum as Cole Jacobs and doesn’t believe names should be gender-limited.
