As Station Seventeen’s rookie, Luke Slater knows his fire and EMS training will be both rigorous and risky, but he never imagined having to partner up with the one woman he wants to keep at arm’s length most of all. Quinn Copeland is as wide-open as Luke is reserved. He has no interest in letting the sweet and sexy paramedic rock his hard-earned control. But the need for composure becomes the need to survive when they find themselves in the crosshairs of a brutal gang leader on their first shift together.
Paramedic Quinn Copeland’s station mates aren’t just her friends. They’re her family. She’d do anything to keep them safe—including reluctantly trusting her impossible-to-read, impossibly gorgeous new partner with the one thing she holds close. As the passion between Luke and Quinn goes from a slow burn to a sizzle, their steps grow more and more dangerous, both in the fire house and out. Can they outwit a cold-blooded killer and face the fears that could cost them everything? Or are they in too deep?
I enjoy Kimberly Kincaid’s books and series I have read. The Station Seventeen series is about a fire station and paramedic teams. This is a natural environment for adventures, as well as investigations occurring due to arson. The world provides a great setting with many fit young men and women, and with a real life feel of ordinary people trying to help others and save lives. No wonder it’s a hot bed of romance! There’s also the camaraderie of the team.
The series is usually more contemporary romance but In Too Deep tips into romantic suspense. Luke is trying to become as skilled as he can learning to be a paramedic as well as a firefighter. He’s the strong and silent guy who isn’t going to ever give out his heart again to be broken. He keeps to himself and takes care of his grandma and younger sister. But he’s attracted to Quinn, a paramedic involved in his training. She’s as open as he is closed and has found her home and family with the people at Station Seventeen.
Events put them in a brutal situation and they spend more time together, developing real feelings for each other. It’s engaging to watch them grow closer and deal with all their feelings through the difficult situations they fight to survive. They have both the comfort of a partner and the sizzle of sex. Recommended.
