It's everything but business as usual.

Emmie Elliot hadn't expected to come back to Metlin, California. She definitely didn't expect to stay. She returned to her childhood home with a mission: Sell the building that housed her grandmother's book store and move on with her life.

But life doesn't always go according to plan.

To reopen her grandmother's book shop, Emmie will need a hook. She'll need a strategy. She'll need an... Ox?

Miles Oxford doesn't have much interest in quiet bookstore owners. He's a tattoo artist without a space to work, and the last thing he wants is to get involved with anyone after his last disaster of a relationship. Work and pleasure don't mix for Ox, but since he doesn't have any interest in the cute girl with the bold business proposal, he should be safe from any awkward complications, right?

She sells ink. He tattoos it. Unusual? Yes. But a book shop/tattoo studio might be the ticket for both Emmie and Ox to find success on their own terms. As long as they keep their attention focused on business.

Just on business.

I’ve read contemporary romance by Elizabeth Hunter before. It’s a different genre than she has been writing recently but I have read this genre from her previously. I liked it then and I like it now. She has a great way of making characters real and unique. They have issues in a way real people do.  I really enjoy everything by Elizabeth Hunter.

I was so excited by this world and all the new characters. It was also great to see old friends getting together again and the development of  a business with fresh marketing ideas. Of course, the business being a bookstore made it all the better.

Emmie is wonderful but doesn’t have real confidence in herself with men. I liked her and watching her growth in developing relationships and coming to realize she could create her own business. I loved her connecting with her friends from childhood and bringing Tayla to her new business. She also trusted her heart and took risks.

For me, Ox was less well defined. Obviously, he is attractive, talented in his work and devoted to his family. His preoccupation with his mother, sister and niece went on a bit too long for me but he did get himself back to a better balance in the end.  I felt the attraction between him and Emmie; I just wanted a little more time together or at least for us to have more of their conversations to further develop the foundation of their relationship and understand more of their connections beyond lust.

I really enjoyed this story and hope we will see more of this up and coming community and the circle of friends we met here. Hunter did bring the characters to life, so many of them, who felt very real. Ink is a fun read with plenty of feels.

Can’t wait to give this a try! Thanks so much for bringing authors I’ve not read before to my attention.

    • Everything she does is amazing. I enjoy them all. My reviews are based on some criteria and not just feelings however. I think the Tampa library has everything of hers if you don’t want to buy until you try.
