When it comes to war the only guarantee is death...

The cosmic gods are about to strike, humanity is on the verge of losing it’s free will, and Carmella Hunter and her friends are the last line of defence.

The task of being anchor between the witches and the skein is draining Carmella by the hour, but she isn’t one to sit by and let her friends do the work. With the clock ticking toward the eclipse, Carmella is determined to wrestle a plan B into place. With the dragon demi-god and his asura at her side, Carmella will be making some huge leaps of faith.

When the eclipse arrives, Carmella plans to be ready, but even the best laid plans can get derailed, and Carmella is about to learn that when it comes to war the only guarantee is death.

An urban fantasy world filled with adrenaline pumping action, pulse pounding romance, super hot djinn and sexy dragon demi-gods. Don't miss this epic conclusion to The Witch Blood Chronicles

Carmella has finally clued into which man is right for her and the apocalypse is nigh. So she better hurry up and save the world so she can get a little happily ever after time with her man.

Overall this is a fun and interesting series.  I enjoy the swap up of the normal creatures you see in Urban Fantasy to include demi-gods and creatures from Indian mythos.  I enjoy vampires and werewolves enough but it is a nice change to make some other creatures of mythology the main focus.

Carmella, being both a Witch and an Azura (god creature), definitely had its advantages.  But it also means that chaos is attracted to her and she will need to learn quickly how to trust the man she has come to love to help her and hopefully get her out to the other side of this crisis alive.

With battles, trips to the underworld, cosmic entities around, and jaunts into other realms, there is never a dull moment from the time Unleashing Magick starts. I was happy with the overall outcome of the story and while some side arcs went a little wonky here and there,  this was a fun, imaginative and interesting series.

The only issue I had with The Witch Blood Chronicles series, beside the lingering love triangle throughout (I hate love triangles in general on principle), is with the shorter book length sometimes there isn’t a lot of time to delve into characters.  Vitra is great and I adore him as a love interest but I really wanted to see him and Carmella together more while they were building a relationship to see how it developed so strongly. But most of their time together is glossed over.  They do get a lot more page time together in Unleashing Magick and I really enjoyed that, especially after Carmella decided to fight for her man.

Carmella has come a long way since Binding Magick and it is good to see the woman she has become.  Maybe we will get glimpses of her in other series set in this world.

Narration:

This is written by an English author and so most of the narration done by Zehra Jane Naqvi is very English accented.  This made the book far more enjoyable for me and it made Carmella see cute like Brigit Jones.  I believe think she did most of the voices in this very well and I completely liked the narration.  I was able to listen at 1.5x speed and still get the full emotional effect.

    • Thanks. It was a fun series overall and I like where it ended. Plus these are short enough that it is a really easy read.

I’m with you on the love triangle stuff so I’m glad she does make a choice. Love the idea of the different paranormal types you describe, too. 🙂

    • Yeah the best thing about this was the different types of mythos and change up to the normal UF lineup. I don’t know a lot about Indian Mythology but this seemed like it was well researched and done.

I’m not sure why so many authors like to use love triangles. I’m not a big fan. I’m like you, I like vamps and weres, but it is nice to have something different from time to time.

    • I don’t mind a little competition or a slow burn romance but love triangles are really one of my least favorite plot devices.
