Tommy and Tuppence, two young people short of money and restless for excitement, embark on a daring business scheme – Young Adventurers Ltd.

Their advertisement says they are ‘willing to do anything, go anywhere’. But their first assignment, for the sinister Mr Whittington, plunges them into more danger than they ever imagined…

This Agatha Christie mystery has 790 editions on Goodreads! I actually own two of them. The story is set in the early 1900s in England. A young man and woman are in London seeking jobs and to begin their lives.  They decide to advertise as young adventurers.  You could think of it as a really early version of the Equalizer maybe.

Agatha Christie is a master for a reason. Her stories are engaging with well drawn characters, no matter how briefly they cross the page, and a fascinating puzzle to twist around to the end. There is real danger to the young couple with clever opponents. A Secret Adversary is a quick, pleasurable read; I’m sure I’ll read this classic again someday.

      COYER Mini-Challenge  July 5-22

Read any freebies and write a review, then link up to your review (Goodreads, blog, Facebook or wherever) below.    The person with the most links will win a $10 Amazon Gift card.  If it is a tie, I’ll use a random number program to pick between them.

These are only Kindle freebies I get, or ones through author newsletters which anyone can sign up and get for free. I don’t include things like Kindle Unlimited or Prime Free Reading . Both Tantor and Audible have occasional free audios (to anyone) and I do include those. This does not include ARCS- Advance Review Copies or library books. Since I one-click on 1-2 freebies a day or probably at least 5 a week, I came up with this feature to make sure I start reading them.

I had a good time with The Secret Adversary and its two follow up stories, too. Might have to do a re-read soon.

Oh, yay! Love your mini-challenge idea. I’m terrible with the freebie grabbing, too. 🙂 I was pleased with myself for finishing two this past week. Not sure how many I’ll do, but I’ll definitely participate in the mini challenge. 🙂 Thanks, Anne!

    • I’m glad to hear you are on board. I think it is something all of us freebie grabbers need. 🙂

    • Thank you! I do the Thrifty Thursday at least once a month and you can always link up your freebie reviews. This one is specifically for COYER but I do this meme every month or more frequently

I have so many books that I picked up as freebies. I do need to start trying to actually read some of them 🙂 Believe it or not, I haven’t read Christie yet but do want to try her work at some point.

    • I love Agatha Christie. I own paperbacks, ebooks and audios. I even own paperbacks in Spanish which I read on the train in Europe during my college years. Anyway, this one is free so why not? It’s also short.

    • Well darn. I just updated the linky to try to make it easier. I’ll try to look at it and see if I can copy your linky to it. Sorry.

      • I got it to work I just couldn’t see your name and typed it twice and it overlapped. I’ll see if I can change that in the widget.

Sorry to be a pain, Anne. I am not sure why the Linky does not like me. I’ve used them many times before, but its acting up for me. I type and nothing appears, but if I right click the name part is filled in. This does not work when I cut and paste the review link.
So… I’m putting it here again.
          2. Persuadable by Katherine Woodbury for Sophia Rose

  3. OK I emailed with Mister Linky and it seems to be working now. I updated the ones for Sophia Rose. The first part lets you put a lable and your URL, the second page lets you put a graphics (book cover).

  4. I’m terribly excited to have found out that you host this challenge often. I have soooo many freebie books on my Kindle, it’s not even funny. This week I’ll be linking up all my Christmas in July reads (I grabbed a few too many last December — lol!).

    • I do it as a meme at least monthly but without prizes for linking up. This is the COYER edition where I am offering a prize.
