When it comes to women, I know what they want. And all day long, I give it to them. Dark, broody, and sexy? You got it. Need to laugh? I’m your guy. Desperate for something to put you in the mood? You’ve come to the right place, kitten.

Every morning when my library opens, there’s a line around the block, the ladies flocking to me in need of their next book boyfriend. I’m that dude. The one who knows his way around the romance section. And if you think that hasn’t gotten me plenty of action over the years, you’d be wrong.

But I've made a few miscalculations, and now my reputation has my job in danger. If I can’t prove to my boss that I’m more than a playboy who recommends romance in the hopes of getting some hanky panky in the stacks, I can kiss my job goodbye.

Karen White, the narrator, brought this audio to my attention. I’m glad she did because the author was new to me, and this was fun.  Although, some of the sexy banter or sex terminology made me blush or cringe.

Parker is the oldest and has all younger brothers. She comes from a geeky nerd background in high school to a highly successful corporate vice president at an organic food chain.  Knox is the son of a librarian who becomes a librarian. They “meet” at a bachelor auction for the library where Parker tries to win him as a date since she needs a date for her high school reunion.  Parker is about 8 years older than Knox,  I think.  (Odd side note, this is the second book this week I’ve read where the woman is 5-8 years older than the man.)

Anyway, they make a deal and it is an amazing ride from there as they learn about each other and their lives.  They are awesome caring people with good families and friends.  Sure they each have their personal issues.  But, it is fun and sexy as they get to know each other better.

I loved the author’s nod to various romance authors as the Knox, the librarian, makes recommendations and thinks about situations in contrast to different books.  What’s sexier than a guy who knows books?

Narration:

Karen White is well familiar to me. I enjoy her so much as she nails this type of heroine who has some insecurities.   Joe Arden was new to me but I liked his kind of raspy voice – oh yeah, perfect for sexy.    I listened at my usual 1.25 speed. The performance really brought out all the feels.

About Pippa Grant

Pippa Grant is a stay-at-home mom and housewife who loves to escape into sexy, funny stories way more than she likes perpetually cleaning toothpaste out of sinks and off toilet handles. • The thing is in addition to being smart and hot. He is also kind and has a sense of humor. That takes him from an A to A++++++. He could get by without the first qualities but not the last two. The combo of smart and funny are killer.
