He’s a better-than-a-Boy-Scout, trauma surgeon extraordinaire. Who just punched a patient in the nose.

She’s the director of the ER. And is now in charge of keeping her star surgeon in line until his suspension is over.

First order of business is prying his perfect ass off the bar stool… and keeping her huge crush on him under control. Except he refuses to move until she agrees to—and then loses—a bet for 48 hours of her undivided attention.

Okay, she can handle this. How much trouble could they possibly get into in two days? And how much could she possibly enjoy that trouble? And if he simply can’t be her Knight-in-Shining-Scrubs anymore, well, then she can finally move on. Because she’s not into bad boys. Anymore. Supposedly.

I’m so lucky Karen White brought this new to audio series to my attention. I always enjoy her and I’m a big fan of Erin Nicholas also.  There seem to be two series names The Bradfords and Everyday Heroes.  The stories revolve around the Bradford family, their community center, doctors, nurses and paramedics.

The couple here are both so likeable. They are smart, talented, hardworking medical professionals. They have also, for various personal reasons kept themselves shut down emotionally. It makes sense just from the thought of what they see on a daily basis in the ER. I mean, once you let yourself open to the emotions, it might be overwhelming.  Their reasons are more family and history related.

Happily, they manage to help each other have some fun and change each others’ perspective enough to give them more balance.  Going from tightly held and hard-working to feeling and having fun, you can count on a good time.  It’s sexy and sort of sassy too.

This is more than a simple romance. The characters and world are well defined.  There are areas of personal growth for multiple characters, even beyond the main couple.  I already have the second audio for review, which was released this week, Just Like That.

Narration:

I always enjoy Karen White. Nobody does the emotions of a character debating with themself internally so well. She really does unique voices for each character, even those with just a minute or two in the story.  The male voices are very comfortable; they sound right. I listened at 1.5x speed which is something new lately for me, but it worked well.

Now back in her home state of North Carolina, she shares a home with her family and (probably) too many pets, where she continues to narrate audiobooks as well as make up stories.

About Erin Nicholas

Erin Nicholas is the author of sexy contemporary romances. Her stories have been described as toe-curling, enchanting, steamy and fun. She loves to write about reluctant heroes, imperfect heroines and happily ever afters. She lives in the Midwest with her husband who only wants to read the sex scenes in her books, her kids who will never read the sex scenes in her books, and family and friends who say they’re shocked by the sex scenes in her books (yeah, right!).

I love Erin’s books and Karen is one of my very fav narrators! I can’t wait to listen to this pairing! I know it’s going to be wonderful!

    • It is really good! I was so happy to find it because the books came out about 8 years ago. I thought when I saw it on the Tantor list it was current NOLA one. But I’m reading slightly less contemporary romance and had a busy schedule so I didn’t request it. But I’m glad Karen White pointed out to me because it’s awesome.
