As you will see from my list, I fall in love with a character and I stick with him even with other books in the series, where he isn’t a main character.  Fantasy / Urban Fantasy makes this easy as often it is the same guy throughout the series.  Pretty much, my choices over all aren’t typical or wise.

Great lists, ladies! I do love pretty much all of Ilona’s Characters b/c I love their books so much – and it’s easy to fall in love with the characters over the course of many books. Robin – I really liked Hazel, too.

I’m trying to think about “one time” characters I read in 2018 that would make my list… I loved Knox from Stud in the Stacks (sexy romance-reading librarian!) Although a series, I just discovered it this year… Veronica Speedwell is wonderful! I love her character. I look forward to more of Veronica in 2019!

    • I decided it would be more fun to pick characters this year than book boyfriends / girlfriends for a change. There are so many inspiring ones. I loved Hazel. I couldn’t choose all the same as Robin though. I tried to bring in some lesser known characters which may be new to more people like Enid of Haven and Lynn McBride. Both from dystopian stories.

  2. Great lists, Robin and Anne. I’m a fan of Nona, Murderbot, Kate, Catalina, and I’m reading about Casey for the first time right now. 🙂

  3. I haven’t read all of the books from either of your lists but I do agree with the characters I know. I loved Murderbot. Kate Daniels, Elara, and Catalina were awesome. Librarian Irene is a smart and resourceful character. Casey Duncan is also a favorite.

    • Yes I grew to enjoy Hugh. Interesting choice. He certainly worked hard and grew personally and yet was true to himself. That is not easy. I am a little surprised I chose any men. I tend to choose strong smart women.

  4. What a wonderful list! I’m definitely going to have to check out the Kate Daniels series… And I completely agree with Murderbot AND Enid from Haven, yay! That is one of my favourite reads of the year – I loved The Wild Dead! It really has been a fabulous reading year, hasn’t it?
