As you will see from my list, I fall in love with a character and I stick with him even with other books in the series, where he isn’t a main character. Fantasy / Urban Fantasy makes this easy as often it is the same guy throughout the series. Pretty much, my choices over all aren’t typical or wise.

Yay! Glad to see Cork, Kate & Hazel on your lists.
Kate is fantastic always and Hazel was totally a hoot. I swear she was just so unapologetically her in everything she did and it just made her so loveable. One of my favorite things about Hazel is that she just let get freak flag fly and never changed who she was for someone else.
I tried not to overlap too much with Robin but Kate and Nona are just so special. I probably should have Hazel on my list also.
Fun lists! Looks like you both loved some of the same ones:)
Anne and I definitely have some overlap 😛
Yes and it’s hard to choose. There are definitely ones on her list I love too.
Some of those are on my favourite list too 🙂
Well hopefully we can also give you a few new ones to consider also.
Great lists, ladies! I do love pretty much all of Ilona’s Characters b/c I love their books so much – and it’s easy to fall in love with the characters over the course of many books. Robin – I really liked Hazel, too.
I’m trying to think about “one time” characters I read in 2018 that would make my list… I loved Knox from Stud in the Stacks (sexy romance-reading librarian!) Although a series, I just discovered it this year… Veronica Speedwell is wonderful! I love her character. I look forward to more of Veronica in 2019!
I decided it would be more fun to pick characters this year than book boyfriends / girlfriends for a change. There are so many inspiring ones. I loved Hazel. I couldn’t choose all the same as Robin though. I tried to bring in some lesser known characters which may be new to more people like Enid of Haven and Lynn McBride. Both from dystopian stories.
I also love Veronica Speedwell. I need to catch up in that series, I’ve only read the first two books of it.
Kate Daniels will forever be one of my favourite characters I think… She kicks ass!
The Best of the Best.
Great lists, Robin and Anne. I’m a fan of Nona, Murderbot, Kate, Catalina, and I’m reading about Casey for the first time right now. 🙂
Oh I LOVE Casey! I hope you enjoy the series as much as I do.
I haven’t read all of the books from either of your lists but I do agree with the characters I know. I loved Murderbot. Kate Daniels, Elara, and Catalina were awesome. Librarian Irene is a smart and resourceful character. Casey Duncan is also a favorite.
It’s hard to choose. I think these characters are well-defined, smart, strong and do what’s right even if it’s not easy for them. It’s their compassion for others which puts them over the top.
I love Lemon Fresh! This is a great list!
Well we do our best to pick the good ones!
LifeL1k3 was really one of my favorite reads of 2018 and it had some very fun characters. Lemon Fresh definitely deserved to be on that list.
I don’t know them all but for the ones I do, I completely agree with you!
Thank you ! They are the ones we want to see again, more of them.
I love Casey Duncan too. And of course Kate. I would add Hugh, because he was such a surprise. I hope you both have great reads in 2019. Happy New Year.

Yes I grew to enjoy Hugh. Interesting choice. He certainly worked hard and grew personally and yet was true to himself. That is not easy. I am a little surprised I chose any men. I tend to choose strong smart women.
What a wonderful list! I’m definitely going to have to check out the Kate Daniels series… And I completely agree with Murderbot AND Enid from Haven, yay! That is one of my favourite reads of the year – I loved The Wild Dead! It really has been a fabulous reading year, hasn’t it?
Yes Kate Daniels is my favorite series ever. I did a Read-along this year. The upcoming year I’m doing a series I’ve never read – Alex Verus by Benedict Jacka. It has been a great reading year.
