Private investigator Lance Kruger was just a boy when his father vanished twenty-three years ago. Since then he’s lived under the weight of that disappearance—until his father’s car is finally dredged up from the bottom of Grey Lake. It should be a time for closure, except for the skeleton found in the trunk. A missing person case gone cold has become one of murder, and Lance and attorney Morgan Dane must face the deadly past that’s risen to the surface.
For Lance, the investigation yields troubling questions about a man he thought he knew. But memories can play dirty tricks. For Morgan, uncovering each new lie comes with a disquieting fear that someone is out there watching, because someone is killing every witness tied to this decades-old crime. Morgan and Lance follow in the shadows of a relentless killer and walk right into the cross fire.

A short review to update challenges
I saw a friend, Sophia Rose, reading this Morgan Dane series and it looked great. It is on Kindle Unlimited, with the audio version also. Bones Don’t Lie is the third book. When I saw it was going to deal with the disappearance of Lance’s father 23 years ago I couldn’t wait to read it. I wasn’t disappointed.
I could barely stop listening! I wanted to learn what had happened so many years ago, forever altering the lives of Lance and his mother. The further development of Lance’s character by bringing in and focusing on his history was great; it also helped him open up to Morgan for the continued development of their relationship.
There were so many questions, and new fears as to whether his father was a good man. I was worried it would be hard to find any evidence with it being so long ago. In a small town, people stay and memories are long. Sadly, the killer knew this and started a fresh cleanup of anyone who might know anything, shooting the pace into overdrive in the dangerous hunt. I didn’t guess the culprit and enjoyed the twisty, rapid-fire ride.

Mary
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. It’s got action and mystery but the big deal is the character development and personal growth of the main characters.
I am hoping to start this series soon! Wonderful review, and happy to see you loved it as much as Sophia did.
I did. I really enjoy this type of romantic suspense. The mystery and action are definitely in the forefront with the romance a more background layer. I like how all the layers are there which is more real lifelike than just one focus.
