The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received.
Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar. The Series on Saturday Assassins giveaway ends at midnight.
I’ve had a decent week but my daughter had a harder time. Last Sunday we got our nails done and then picked up stuff at BJs. Monday, she made it through class but then couldn’t make it to group or the social event on Tuesday. Her gastro issues are flaring up and she’s having a lot of vertigo. I went to see Tower of Power Monday night which was fabulous. I played sax in high school and college jazz band. I’ve seen Spyro Gyra often but this was my first time to see TOP.
Tuesday, she did have physical therapy which seemed to help. Her exam was Wednesday and she thought it went well. She felt good enough to manage quilting group Wed night and the social event on Friday. We finished FOUR blocks at quilting. The block is at the left and the quilt takes 25 blocks, then sashing, edging and binding.
We had a 4 day weekend, which has done wonders for me. I got all the stuff together and loaded in the car Thursday to take to donate Friday, before we went to her social thing. The weather was great all week 60-70 and only rained a bit Friday. I love the sun. I did LOTs of reading. I was bad staying up to 4am both Thursday AND Friday night. Surprisingly, I was energized the following days, not tired. Reading is life people.
My brother is in California for the unveiling of the Tesla Y. It’s his hobby. I finally watched something on Netflix for the first time in 8-9 months. Triple Frontier! Because Charlie Hunnam! Some of you have seen my Northwoman avatar which is a photo of him with me at the Teller Morrow set in 2014. I rode out to California on my Harley for the Season 7 premier of Sons of Anarchy.
This upcoming week is also supposed to be sunny but a little cooler, 55-60. Our schedule is pretty full with only Thursday open. Friday, after her class we hope to go to the NC Fiber Fest at the Fairgrounds. I am finding it much harder when we have night activities. That’s when I usually find time to blog hop or set up posts or relax. When I’m scheduled at night, I feel like I have no time.
Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality. These are the exciting ARCs I received this week:
Thank you so much Tantor Audio, and InkSlingerPR.
I found a new audiobook provider with sales called Chirp and bought this one for $0.99.
Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.
I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.
I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.
If you like this and want to see me do the Sunday post, as often as I can manage, leave me a comment and let me know.
Anne
Mmmm, Charlie Hunnam. Have you seen any of the Mayan’s MC show? It’s pretty good but hasn’t captured the magic of SoA for me.
You sound like you’ve had a super busy week! I love those late night reading sessions that you bounce awake from! It usually happens for me when the book was so good it left me buzzing. 🙂
I haven’t watched Mayans yet but it’s on my list. I just don’t get to tv as much as audiobooks. Audiobooks are more portable. Yes they were good books so I’ve been feeling buzzy. Have a beautiful week!
Hope your daughter continues to improve, Anne!
I never knew that was Charlie Hunnam in your avatar? I just knew whoever it was is awfully handsome??
I figured some didn’t know so that’s why I posted the info. Yes, he got me on a Harley and now there’s no stopping. Before the Harley, it was daily pushups to build my arm muscles because the weight of a Harley is no joke.
Oh vertigo is the worse! I’ve been just waiting to get sick lately, it’s almost as if the world isn’t in balance if I don’t ge t sick once a month.I’ll have to look into some of your romance reads. I just finished two of Julie James books and I highly recommend them.
I love Julie James! I’ve reviewed some I think but they were favorites of Julie and Jennifer so maybe I wasn’t the reviewer on those, when I reviewed for them.
I thought I recognized the guy in your Avatar! LOL You rode there on a Harley. How awesome. I’m glad your daughter is recovering from her vertigo. I used to have t so bad I couldn’t even watch movies with scenes from high places. It comes and goes now. The long weekend sounds great. I need one of those!
It’s been a good week for me, less so for my daughter. I wish I felt I could afford to take another long road trip summer. Last year was dismal for Harley riding. I hope I can manage more this year.
Enjoy the upcoming week, and thanks for sharing your books and events. Here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES
Thanks Laurel!
Anne I wish I would feel energized after one night of reading! Unfortunately I just feel really tired. You ahev to tell me your secret LOL
I’m not sure if it is we finally have sunshine or they are just really good books, or both.
i can’t stop one clicking either
Well they are free. I hit the downside of it this week. My Kindle was too full to download anymore. I don’t understand that. My old Kindle fire I had 2012-2017 and it never got full. Now I have this one just over a year and it’s full. Did I get the low memory version? Anyway I can delete the books and get them from the cloud. I think I have to be careful with docs because they can’t be reloaded from the cloud.
Your quilting block is so cute!
Thanks! It is 21 pieces to put together each block. We are getting better at the “assembly line” method. She sews. I pin and press. My daughter and I like dogs so this is the theme and colors she wanted, blue, brown with a few pops of red.
Tower of Power sounds great! And sorry to hear your daughter is having gastro and vertigo issues- I hope she feels better soon! That has to be tough…
4 day weekends are nice. And I’m jealous of your weather! I could use some 60’s/ 70’s!!! Hopefully soon!
Have a great week Anne!!!!
Thanks Greg! I hope you get the better weather. I moved south since I wanted a more temperate range.
I really enjoyed Frontier, but I watched for Jason Mamoa. Glad you had a good week. I’m excited that I’m caught up on writing reviews. I haven’t finished the book that I planned on reading this weekend, but I will shortly.
Melanie @ Hot Listens & Books of My Heart
Every week it seems like I have one more review to finish. I’m trying to get a little ahead but when I do I tend to go off on a tangent and read something on my backlist or something new from the library. Have a great week Melanie!
I hope your daughter feels better soon. I wish it was warmer here. I was in the bomb cyclone, so there’s a lot of snow right now. A few days ago, I stayed up until 2am to finish a book. It was a good book, but I regretted it the next day.
Well other than my daughter things are better here with the weather and my energy level. I have to wonder if it’s related with me feeling better when there is sun.
Sorry to hear your daughter’s gastro issues have been giving her a tough time this past week – sounds like she still had a decent week though, so that’s good! We’ve had nice weather too – and I’ve been milking it spending time outside on my balcony. Really hope it stays this warm and just keeps getting warmer in the coming weeks so I can really enjoy being outside.
Have a great week!
I’m loving the better weather and sun. Nice but not too hot. That’s why I live in NC instead of TX or Fl. It gets too hot there and also more humid. Have a wonderful week, Berls!
I’m loving some warmer weather and yay for long weekends! Happy reading!
Thanks Natalie! I’m with you on those preferred things.
Glad you both had a better week after the rocky start with daughter’s health. The quilt square looks great. Neat how you got to go to the concert and can appreciate it even better having played the sax. I’m curious about Frontier now.
I know what you mean about getting in a schedule groove and then having stuff put you off your game.
I got In Her Sights, too. Hope to start it this week.
Have a good week, Anne!
Thanks Sophia! I seem to like all the Katie Ruggle books. I’m interested since this one seems to have female leads. I’ll start listening soon too. Have a delightful week with some wonderful books!
I hope your daughter feels better this week!
Thank you. She has another appointment tomorrow to see if we can’t improve our plan.
Triple Fronteir is in our Netflix queue 🙂
Have a great reading week, and please stop by
Triple Frontier was different than I expected but I liked it. Charlie also had a bit bigger role than I expected. I try very hard to stop by all the Sunday posts but it does take the whole week to get to them all.
I hope your daughter feels better Anne, gastro issues aren’t all that nice. And yay for getting back to netflix! I’ve heard good things about Triple Frontier, but just not made time for it! I hope you have a great week 🙂
We’re working on improving our plan and visiting her doctor tomorrow.
I was glad Triple Frontier was good but I would have watched just for Charlie Hunnam. Honestly, I thought Ben Affleck was kind of blah. The other actors were all better, more realistic.
Sounds like a good weekend. We watched Triple Frontier Friday night and I really liked it. I’m not a huge Ben Afflack fan so you could say a certain scene didn’t bother me much but I think it was well made and all the actors did a great job. And yes, Charlie Hunnam didn’t hurt. Hope your daughter is feeling better this week.
Yes, it was different than I expected but I did like it. Ben Affleck was kind of blah. He seemed a little too old and maybe out of shape for the part. But that could just be because Charlie and Garrett are so trim.
Thanks we are trying to rework my daughter’s stuff a bit to make things better.
Oh how I wish I could stay up reading until the wee hours of the morning and still feel energized. 🙂 I’m a total early-to-bed-early-to-rise type. Hope your daughter is feeling better this week. And I’m not sure who Charlie Hunnam is (but I’m guessing an actor?) but my goodness he certainly looks nice in that photo. 🙂
I think the sun is really helping me feel energized, the sun later in the day. Or that it finally stopped raining here,
Thanks, I hope we can figure out something for my daughter to improve her issues.
Charlie Hunnam is an actor. He was the main character on Sons of Anarchy and has been in several movies including Pacific Rim, Crimson Peak, King Arthur, Lost City of Z, Papillon to name a few, and now in Triple Frontier on Netflix. He’s a nice guy.
Sorry to hear of your daughter’s medical issues. Hope she feels better soon. I love the quilt pattern. My stepdad used to make quilts when he was a live and he made one for all the grandkids. You have a Harley? That’s awesome!
Thanks I hope we can figure out something more to help her.
I enjoy the quilting and I only learned about 15 years ago. I sewed in 4-H since I was 9. I like the designing and hand sewing parts the best.
Yes, I have a Harley Dyna Superglide.
I hope your daughter starts to feel better soon.
That quilting block is adorable. My friend quilts and I’m always so amazed at the designs she comes up with.
Thanks. We love dogs and it was fun to come up with a design based on fabrics I had.
Ok, that quilt is ADORABLE!!!! I love the dogs! Hopefully your daughter is feeling better this week!
Thanks I think it is turning out pretty well. I was a little worried it might be too busy.
We were at the doc today and got referred to a new specialist.
Sounds like a mixed bag week. Good for you is good! I hope your daughter is having a better week this week!
I think it is going a little better; she is going to her scheduled stuff. Today that was just a doc appt where we got referred to a new specialist, and her physical therapy.
I’m energized about a new project organizing my digital photos.
Here’s the thing I realized about Chirp. They don’t have the original narrator. I bought two before I realized I had never heard of the narrators. I haven’t listened yet so do not know if they are any good. I need to check out some of the freebies you listed and see if that’s still the case! Sorry to hear about your daughters health issues. Bless her heart! Hope you are still enjoying your weather. I guess Spring is getting ready to get here as much as I want to hold off on summer. I hate hot weather!
Thanks for the tip on Chirp! Well I checked the one I got and it is the original narrator. It wasn’t free; it was $0.99.
It was supposed to be sun all week and now all of a sudden it’s rain the next 2 days. Bugger. I don’t like HOT either.
We went to the doc today and got referred to a specialist, so we will see what happens next.
Sorry to hear your daughter wasn’t well early in the week, but I’m glad you were both able to go to your quilt group. And the NC Fiber Fest! I’m faintly jealous. (Just faintly.) I’m hoping to get to Maryland Sheep and Wool in early May.
We seem to be doing well with the crafting activities. Tonight is charity night so we will be making quilts for the NICU at the hospital. I’m just glad it looks like the weather will cooperate. I plan to go to a free talk on fibers and what to use for what project. They have tons of spinning demos and other things. I draw the line at spinning; I am not picking up another craft.
Sorry your daughter hasn’t been feeling well! I hope she improves quickly!
Thank you. We went to the doc yesterday who did some blood tests and is referring us to a specialist. I hope they have some ideas.
I am sorry to hear that you daughter wasn’t feeling well. I am glad to hear that she thinks she still did well on her test. Your quilting square is adorable – I love the dogs 🙂 Looks like you went to a good concert. I will have to probably check out a few area spots to hear music once my daughter goes away to college. I am sorry that I have been MIA lately. I will do better 🙂
No worries we all have weeks which don’t go well or fly by in a blur. I love connecting with you though.
Sorry to hear your daughter is unwell and keeping my fingers crossed that the blood tests and investigations quickly uncover the cause. I’m SO impressed with the quilting – it looks so effective! It must be lovely working away in the company of other folks… I hope the rain soon ceases and you get more sunshine soon – we could all do with more brightness in our lives!
I’m hoping we learn more soon. But we didn’t even hear from the specialist to make an appointment so I’ll have to call the doctor to get the name of what specialist it was. I tried to get them to tell me before we left the office since it always seems to work this way.
We are enjoying the quilting. We pieced the entire top of a baby quilt for charity this week and I’ll have a photo in this week’s Sunday.
The only day we had rain this week I fell asleep in the (parked) car while waiting for my daughter. But most days are sunny now so I can’t complain too much. Have a lovely weekend!
Hope your daughter feels better. Lovely photo of you and Charlie Hunnam. So lucky. Nice book haul.
Thanks. Charlie is actually sitting on his Harley and I am up next to him. He took this in a series of 5 photos with my iphone The later ones we are making faces and I’m losing it laughing.
I am sorry to hear your daughter had a bit of a harder week this week. Sounds like you had a decent week at least, that’s nice you got to see Tower of Power live. I haven’t heard of them, but it’s always nice to see a band you like live. The start of your guilt is looking great! And your 4 day weekend sounds wonderful! I hope you enjoy your new books and have a great week!
Thanks Lola! It was a relaxed week and I felt better with more sun! Have a great weekend.
