However, it's particularly inconvenient while I'm trying to tackle my first wedding season. Between twelve hour days, an assistant with a case of butter fingers (not the chocolate kind), and the flood of tourists in town, I’m struggling to keep a grip on my sanity.

All I want is three months of peace from the spirit world.

But when local ghosts start going missing, I have to do something.

After all, it’s not like they go to the Hamptons.

Missing ghosts, a posthumously alimony-hungry divorcee, and a raging bridezilla. Yup, my bingo card is officially full. Can I get a prize and go home now?

I recently reviewed Betwixt which has a variety of novellas set in the town, and is a bridge between Beechwood Harbor Magic Mysteries and the Beechwood Harbor Ghost Mysteries, and introduces Scarlet.  Ghost Hunter Next Door is the first in her series.  The books of both series are in Kindle Unlimited.

Now we are in the thick of things, as Scarlet is in the busy wedding season for her shop, trying to handle her relationship with Lucas, and deal with some crazy ghost issues.   Of course, there’s a murder in the mix also.  She has so much happening, it’s no wonder she’s tired, can’t please everyone,  and she doesn’t get much support from her ghost friends in this round.

I really enjoyed the personal growth Scarlet had in Ghosts Gone Wild.  She was forced to set some boundaries with the ghosts. She also learned some things about having a relationship with Lucas. Most interesting, she has started to learn more about herself and her capabilities, as well as learning more about ghosts also.   Next up is When Good Ghosts Get the Blues.

Narration:

Amanda Ronconi is a well-loved narrator and handles this series well.   I listened at my usual 1.5x speed.  The voices were distinct for the small number of primary characters, both male and female voices.  She certainly nailed the voice of the annoying Kimberly.

About Danielle Garrett

From a young age, Danielle Garrett was obsessed with fantastic places and the stories set in them. As a lifelong bookworm, she’s gone on hundreds of adventures through the eyes of wizards, princesses, elves, and some rather wonderful everyday people as well.

Danielle now lives in Oregon and while she travels as often as possible, she wouldn’t call anywhere else home. She shares her life with her husband and their house full of animals, and when not writing, spends her time being a house servant for three extremely spoiled cats.

    • Thanks Jonetta. These are fun and fast. They are not dark or thought-provoking for the most part. It’s a cozy sort of mystery. I wouldn’t read these all the time but it’s a nice change of pace. These are well-written and narrated compared to many other series.

  1. I struggled a bit with this one, but you’re right she is really learning both about ghosts and relationships. Again, the ghost friends were a fun addition though, poor Hayward. 🙂

Looking forward to the next book.

  2. this series looks kind of fun 😀 I know Sophia Reviewed it and also had fun with it, so curious!

    • You very well might enjoy them for those reasons. I have seen them around often too. They are in KU and Tantor is just releasing the audiobooks now (which is how I have started them) They are also short compared to some things I read or listen.

    • Thank you! They are light and fun, quite different than most of my reads really. Other than straight contemporary romance I read sometimes. It adds some quirky balance to my reading.
