The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly  @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received.

Stacking The Shelves is also a weekly meme hosted by  Tynga’s Reviews and Marlene from Reading Reality.  It’s all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.  Today’s the last day to vote and enter to win a digital copy of the first in the winning K9 series.

This week was not like other weeks. My daughter only had class on Monday and then just medical appointments. So we had some extra time this week. She found out she got 100 on her quiz even though she studied the wrong thing. She was feeling so poorly we didn’t go to quilting again, and I haven’t sorted out the fabric to make the rest of the squares. I called her doctor and said I was concerned because the specialist could not get her in until July and the calendar wasn’t even open for July.  Other than her classes and medical appointments, she is in enough pain she just stays in bed all the rest of the time. They referred us to a different specialist. They called me right away to set an appointment and we have one in May. They think if I call Monday mornings though we might get in even sooner!

I did not do a good job at blog hopping this week.  I used some extra time this week to research options to see if we will move this summer. I was reviewing financial data to see what we can afford,  driving around to check out other parts of town,  creating spreadsheets to analyze mileage to our regular activities from the areas and the key factors / pet peeves for a new place.  This was very time consuming but I learned a lot.  This week is back to the normal schedule.

Today (Sunday), I need to sort out the quilting fabrics / projects. Also, we need fresh main/pedis because my nails are so long I’m shocked they aren’t broken. It’s been months since I got a pedicure and with sandal season upon us, those toes need a fix.  It was up to 80 a couple days last week and will be again this week. This weekend is cooler around 60, because it rained Friday. We are mostly in the 70s with rain only a couple days a week.  So I have no complaints.

I had many books read and so many reviews to write yesterday (Saturday) . I caught up and reworked the schedule so everything is in good shape for this week.

If anyone would like to guest in June (audio) , July or August for a Friends on Friday, please let me know.

Happy Easter peeps!   Have a wonderful week!

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.  These are the exciting ARCs I received this week:

Better Sister                                                                  Better Than Me                      Life and Other Inconveniences

Time

Oh thank you so much Harper Audio, Kimberly Kincaid, Berkley,  and Penny Reid / Social Butterfly PR!

Elizabeth II                                                                     The Beautiful Brain

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

None!!!!!

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT  they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

Thank you for visiting and commenting. I love to hear your ideas and thoughts.

Anne

  1. Oh my gosh! There’s a new Kristan Higgins novel coming? I need to see if I can get my hands on that 😀 I love her writing.
I’m sorry your daughter is in so much pain, and I really hope you’ll be able to get her to see a specialist as soon as possible. I’ll send her some healing thoughts.
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.

    • Thank you! Yes I like her work and often listen to it on audio (often from the library) I was shocked when the publisher reached out to me to join the tour for this one. They don’t regularly email me or anything. But so excited.

  2. Poor gal! Glad you got a new specialist who could move up the appointments and hopefully find a treatment to help. Househunting is a huge endeavor, but hopefully you’ll find something cozy that you like and better on the finances.
I need to try Penny Reid’s books at some point so I’ll look forward to your thoughts on that.

Happy Easter to you and your daughter, Anne! Have a good week.

    • Thanks Sophia! I hope you are having a lovely weekend. May is better than unknown July. Since school starts again mid-August, we would also have more time for any treatments to work or whatever before fall with a May date.

Penny Reid is unlike the others. There is the honest, awkward, real and funny quality. I love it. Plus science!

    • Thank you! Years of work have taught me research and planning always help. I have developed skills to organize my thoughts which make everything less overwhelming and easier to analyze because I can get right to the key data points. It simplifies decision making. Of course, there are emotional aspects which are subjective which are very important but it still helps. Plus when I have thought about how I will handle all possible outcomes I could imagine, then if one things happens I already know my plan and can act accordingly. I love organizing.

    • That’s what I said. Her quality of life is so affected and waiting 3 months to see someone was not making me happy. The other group is actually better but may not be covered by insurance but if they can help her and sooner I have to figure it out.

  3. I hate that your daughter is feeling so bad. It is so frustrating when you can’t get in to see the doctor. I am glad you were able to be referred to another specialist. Moving would be exciting but so much work. I had at one time told my husband we could think about buying a new house when the kids finish school but now that it is happening, I don’t even want to think about it. We have too much stuff to even consider moving 🙂 I will be excited to see what you decide on. I hope you have a great week and enjoy your new books!

    • Thanks Carole. I like the planning and getting everything organized but it is lots of work. We moved into this house 4 years ago and it was not meant to be permanent. There are a few things we need and another place will be a better fit. I have a plan and hope I can make it work.

  4. Congrats on your daughter but I also am so sorry that she feels so bad Anne! My daughter has huge migraines since she was six years old and I know how helpless we feel as parents while witnessing the suffering of our child! I really hope the specialist will find something to truly help her.

    • That’s the real worry. The specialists will say yes she is sick but her condition has no treatment. I am not looking for drug treatments unless they are shorter term. I just want her to have less constant pain.

  5. I hoping for the best for your daughter and gets the relief from all that pain?

What! No freebies!! I don’t recall seeing you have many weeks like this?

I got the Alastair Burke book, too, and am looking forward to listening to it. Enjoy your week and good luck considering that move.

  6. Thanks for stopping by my blog! I’m sorry your daughter is in so much pain, I hope she can find some relief soon.

The Better Sister is on my TBR too! It sounds so awesome.

Also, I absolutely LOVE your header! My husband and I used to ride motorcycles all the time, but we sold ours when we moved overseas and haven’t bought another one since we’ve been back. I miss it!

  7. I am so sorry your daughter isn’t feeling well. I hope the doctors can figure this out sooner rather than later. The Kimberly Kincaid series looks good. I have the first one on my Kindle and just need to make time to read it. I hope you have a great week!

  8. Hope things get sorted and you get some help for your daughter soon. That must be so frustrating. It was bad week for us as we lost our best friend Booker T. It was quick and unexpected and he was gone way too soon. It’s been a bad week for reading but I have managed to almost finish the 4th Kate Daniels book today.

If you need any spots filled, I’d love to be a guest. Just let me know. Have a wonderful week.

    • Thank you Barb. Kate Daniels is my favorite series ever. Enjoy! I did a Read-along for it in 2018 leading up to Magic Triumphs. This year is Alex Verus. Next year is Mercy Thompson. I seem to be all about the UF!

I’ll email you from the email on your comment think about the Friends on Friday with information and some possible dates. Thanks for your interest. Have a lovely week.

  9. Melanie

I got some stuff done around the house this week and did some volunteer hours at the zoo yesterday. I have a big presentation at work this week. So, I’m hoping that it won’t be too stressful. A lot of people are out, so that will help things. I hope. Have a great week.

  10. Great news on your daughters test. That’s awesome! Sorry she’s not feeling to well. Hopefully the other specialist can get her in sooner. Good luck on figuring out if you are/can movie. That sounds like a big task. Good luck! Hope you enjoy the new arrives you got. Happy Reading and Happy Easter.

  11. Happy Easter to you too! Hope you had a great weekend. We finally had some nice weather- it was awesome here today- and I’m so ready for it!

I hope your daughter can get in to see th specialist ASAP!!

  12. The wait to see a specialist can be immensely frustrating, I hope a sooner appointment becomes available. I dread the idea of moving, just packing up my books would be a nightmare, good luck with the house hunt.

    Have a great reading week

  13. I’m always so sorry to hear how hard things are for your daughter (and you!) with the health complications… It’d drive me nuts to know there’s that long to wait before getting to see a specialist. 🙁

I love the cover for Life and Other Inconveniences!

Good luck with your quilting projects this week.

    • Thanks Nicci! I did finally get out all the fabrics to figure things out last night. Finally. I need to finish up tonight or tomorrow night. We will see which works. If she feels as bad as she has the last 2 weeks we may not go or may work at home.

    • We needed it with this warmer weather this week. I want to find some answers for my daughter soon. I was on the phone with different doctors all afternoon. UGH. She always has anxiety about all her schoolwork and always does well. She has gotten an A in every college class so far.

Anne recently posted: Wolfhunter River by Rachel Caine
    • Thank you! She’s not having a good day today. I’m trying to work something out for her; I’ve been on the phone all day. It is now dead and plugged in to charge. Even though she always worries about her school, she always gets an A.

Anne recently posted: Taken by Rebecca Zanetti
  14. I really hope that your appointment with the specialist gets you closer to a solution to your daughter’s pain. That’s great that she is still succeeding in school in spite of the pain.

  15. Sorry to hear about your daughter, I hope she’s feeling better. You sound like you’ve had a really busy week! Glad to hear you have great weather ahead though!

  16. I hope they are able to get your daughter in to the specialist soon and help her to not be in pain. All of the research that goes in to mov ing is so time consuming. Hopefully things slow down so you can relax, get you mani/pedi, and get back to reading and quilting 🙂

    • Thank you! Research may be time consuming but very necessary whether it’s housing info or medical info / costs. I don’t mind doing it, as it is my nature to research and analyze the hell out of things.

  17. Melissa (My World...in words and pages)

I’ve been so on and off again with getting to blog visits. I’m planning to make better on that from now on. I’m sorry I haven’t been by in a while. I’m playing catch up now and hope to be around more.

Take care and have a great week!

  18. I would like to sometime do a guest post but that will be next year. I just have a bunch of things to do so it’s hard right now to do that. I will have to plan on this. Happy Easter. Sorry, I am late getting here. I hope it was a nice day for you.

    Mary

    • That would be awesome I would love to have you. I’ve made Friends on Friday as easy as I can for people. You just write a review for something we aren’t reviewing, any genre, and then I do the post and you do the post any time that week on your own blog. Let me know. We often have openings if I don’t work on it at all.
