The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly  @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received.

Stacking The Shelves is also a weekly meme hosted by  Tynga’s Reviews and Marlene from Reading Reality.  It’s all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.

It’s been a busy week with my daughter’s classes. She missed 2 medical appointments because she didn’t feel well.  She just has 2 classes left and her finals.  I hope staying home this weekend will help her feel better.

The weather has been pretty good with just a bit of rain, not all day.   I did pick up sticks and sweep the tree droppings on Thursday, but then I felt like my throat was sore and my nose might be stuffy.  Luckily by Friday, it was gone, but I definitely was feeling the allergies. Next week we will have more 80s; I might have to turn on the AC!

We love seafood. I continually try to come up with gluten-free meals which are quick and easy.  I usually had baked cod or fried, I guess, in the past.  I tried one way to cook it and it was just ok.  This week I tried it with a dusting of cornmeal and then pan frying it in a little oil.  It was delicious!  So we have that sorted.

I also tried a gluten-free mix from Aldis for cheddar garlic-herb biscuits which are kind of like the ones at Red Lobster.  We liked them but they aren’t a low calorie option. Probably why we liked them. lol

I’m going to wait and do my April wrap up next weekend. I was totally on the run today (Saturday).  We found a place for end of June.  I went to see it  one more time and measured stuff. My computer time will be spotty the next couple months with the packing and cleaning. At least I can listen to audiobooks while I pack.

I also planned to vacuum out the car. Well I didn’t have quarters and nobody seems to have change machines or use credit cards for it.  I did make sure all the tires were inflated properly and throw out all the trash.  Then at home, I used our vacuum to clean out the whole car.  I also vacuumed the first floor of the house. This morning I had done a bunch of laundry, and clean sheets.

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.  These are the exciting ARCs I received this week:

When Good Ghosts Get the Blues                                       The A List

The Long Call

Thank you so much  Tantor Audio,  Simon & Schuster Audio,  and Minotaur Books.

None.

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

I also got the 9 free books on Amazon for World Book Day and the free audiobooks at Libro.fm..

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT  they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

If you like this and want to see me do the Sunday post, as often as I can manage, leave me a comment and let me know.

Anne

  1. Enjoy your week and your books. I also got The Long Call…and having trouble with my allergies.

Good luck with the packing and moving, and thanks for visiting my blog.

  2. I hope your daughter feels better this weekend! Those cheesy biscuits sound really good Anne. I love them from Red Lobster! Awesome that you were able to get so many book freebies this week. I hope you have a great week 🙂

    • Thank you! I hope it’s a better week all around. Sometimes I just need cheesy biscuits or pancakes or some carbs, even though I am trying to keep them on the infrequent side.

I was most excited to get free audiobooks! There’s that SYNC program now in the summers but that is more YA than I usually read.

  3. Neat that she’s almost there on finishing her classes and that you found a new place. But, ugh, moving, right? LOL That is odd about the carwash not having a change machine if it takes coins to wash or vacuum. Their loss. The breaded fish sounds delicious. I do the corn meal and sprinkle in some parmesan sometimes.
I got the Danielle Garrett, too.

    Have a good week, Anne!

    • Thanks Sophia! You have a great week too! I have used parmesan on a chicken breast recipe but I think it’s baked but it was also great. I’ve already finished the Danielle Garrett and now it’s on to writing the review!

  4. Melanie

I spent the morning vacuuming the house. It was long overdue. I also did a little bit of steam cleaning of the carpet in areas where it was the dirtiest. I’m hoping to visit blogs and write some reviews today.

  5. Hope your daughter feels better. My mom purposefully let me stay home on all athletic field trips as a kid as I had broken my leg two times while attending school, so it was probably a good idea.

  6. I hope your daughter is feeling better. I know how finals are and the stress alone from that can make you even sicker. My finals are worth a lot of our grade so it’s very stressful. I hope all goes good this week.

    • Thanks Flora, no stopping is not something that happens much. I have too many things I want to do. I’m the most self-motivated person ever I think and I’m not likely to give up on things I want to do either. I might have to accomplish it a different way but I figure it out. But my goals are not always the same as others want me to do. lol I hope we find some answers for my daughter or that she is less stressed without classes this summer.

  7. I used to get a lot of freebies from Amazon but so many of them end in cliffhangers that I just stopped getting so many of them. I love seafood too. I started eating more seafood and roasted vegetables recently to try and cut out some carbs.

    • Yes we are also on the carb cut down, whether it is biscuits or rice or potatoes or even sugar or sweets. We still have them but are trying for less. We’re both big fans of seafood so I’m trying to rotate with a few different recipes so we don’t have them the same way all the time. I tend to steam all my veggies other than salad.

  8. Oh the Red Lobster cheese biscuits are delicious. Great that you found a similar gluten free recipe! Hope your daughter feels better. Packing? Didn’t know you had to move, but great that you found a place.that works. 🙂

    • Thanks. We have what seems like lots of time but it goes fast so I know I need to get to work. And get rid of stuff we are using. The GF cheese biscuits are actually a mix at Aldi’s. I hope she feels better with less stress with the school session ending.

    • Thanks Angela and thanks for always being supportive. I really appreciate it. It’s been a whirlwind which is actually kind of normal but even more of a frenzy of things I want or need to do than usual, I have hope to get things sorted better in the new place. Have a great week!

  9. That’s why I love the library so much–it’s all free (except the late fees which I tend to rack up). Hope your daughter is feeling better so she can concentrate on those finals. Happy reading!

    • Um yes, I have already read like 30 library books this year – I’m a huge fan. I’m even thinking about membership at another library just to have access to other options like maybe Hoopla. But I do all digital so they return themselves on time, no late fees ever. I think she’ll feel better when it’s finished, less stress.

  10. Good luck with the packing! I also did a bunch of cleaning, but I haven’t vacuumed or washed the vehicles and they could really use a good washing. I’ve had my A/C on for awhile now. I just can’t stand to be hot and when it gets up to 80 in the house, I’m done. My son has pretty bad allergies, too so I can’t exactly leave the windows open all the time when it gets cooler like it did these last few days. *sigh* He’s 18 and one day he’ll move out and I can open the windows all I want. lol

    • Good luck! My daughter is 22 and says she wants to stay with me, even after she gets married! I don’t believe that except I am a good cook, driver, laundress, seamstress, knitter and shopper. But we get along fine and she needs the emotional support right now.

I probably need the AC a couple days but we do have ceiling fans and it cooled off at night so we made do. But with 80s this week, it’s on.

  11. I hope your daughter feels better. I love seafood, only my mother in law and I really eat seafood. My husband is really picky so she and I tend to eat everything he doesn’t want to eat when he’s not around. Best of luck on the move! I’m currently working on putting away laundry and vacuum except here I am blog hopping. I hope you have a wonderful week!

    • I’m trying to worry more about if it is healthy, real food than calories. But those cheesy biscuits don’t have tons of nutrient value either. Fruits have a lot more carbs than people, including me, think but they at least have nutrition value. They just also have sugar = carbs. But everything in moderation, except gluten.

  12. Urg! What a shame about the allergies – I used to suffer very badly, but as I’ve grown older my hayfever has completely disappeared. I hope you have the same thing happen! I’m intrigued to see that you have the new Anne Cleves book – I look forward to seeing what you make of it.

    • Thank you! The allergies are much more under control. I mention Thursday because it is a really rare occurence now with my pills and nasal spray. I am excited about The Long Call! It’s a new to me author but right in the genre I love well. I read lots of series and books by authors I know well so it’s fun to try a new one.

  13. With 3 dogs (1 is a chow mix), we vacuum all the time. We need to clean up the cars from the last time we took the dogs to the park. I can’t believe that classes are already over. I hope she is feeling better after this weekend. I am glad you found a place but I know that moving will be a ton of work. I hope you enjoy your new books and have a great week!

  14. I hope your daughter is feeling better! I get a few freebies through Kindle Unlimited. I’ve been thinking about reading a Cleeves book. I may check out The Long Call.

    • Thank you Esther! We do lots and lots of reviews. There are 4 of us. We also cover a wide range of genres and have a few fun original memes like Thrifty Thursday, Friends on Friday, Series on Saturday and our annual Read-along. I participate in a bunch of challenges including my beloved COYER. Every one of us is an audiobook fan.

  15. That’s nice you had some great weather this week. We had a lot of sun for the past few weeks and then last week was a bit colder again. I hope your daughter is feeling better soon!

Those biscuits you made sound good! I hope you’ll enjoy your new books and have a great week!

    • Thanks Lola! The weather has been great! Things have been happening fast but we are still eating yummy food. Fish and green veggies are at the top of our agenda right now. We are craving them.

  16. Oh yes, cleaning the house. I hate that work, but it needs to be done, right? But not on a Sunday. That is the only day I allow myself to just sit down and read or watch TV. Hope you are well again and that your daughter feels good too. Maybe she´s a bit nervous because of her classes and finals? Good luck to her!

    Best wishes
