The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly  @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received.

Stacking The Shelves is also a weekly meme hosted by  Tynga’s Reviews and Marlene from Reading Reality.  It’s all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.

We’ve been on vacation this week. While driving, I was able to listen to lots of fun audiobooks.  It is a little stressful to find gluten free food on the road sometimes. Finding somewhere to eat and then taking the time to eat really takes up too much time.  It really is easier to eat at home.   We have enjoyed some restaurants which had a dedicated fryer to have some fried foods and also some desserts.  We have found lots of great seafood in Maine which is where we spent some days.

My June audiobooks finally arrived Thursday so I could stop listening to library books and move on to the audios I had for review.  Hotel internet is sloooooow compared to Internet at home.  But I got them download so I have them for the long trip home.

Happy Memorial Day!

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.  These are the exciting ARCs I received this week:

Sapphire Flames                                  In the Darkness                                                  Snowspelled

Physical Forces                                                                                        The Beyond

Oh the publishers were so very good to me this week!  Thank you so much Avon, Brilliance Audio,  Tantor Audio,

The Path Made Clear                                                     Minimum Wage Magic

Liar, Liar                                                                                       The Bridge Kingdom

If I Only Knew                                                                       The Search

The Oprah audio was free one day only when she gave a commencement address.  The others are courtesy of an Audible 2-1 credit sale.

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT  they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

If you like this and want to see me do the Sunday post, as often as I can manage, leave me a comment and let me know.

Anne

  1. Enjoy your travel Anne but I hope that it will be easier to find gluten free food! You told me some weeks ago that indeed you had also some special need food wise when I complained about my on site training week! And enjoy your audiobook 😉

    • Yes we had a couple days where finding food or the kind of food we wanted was difficult. One day my daughter was very crabby about how long it took to find something. It goes better when I plan and research in advance, even it I am not exactly hungry at the time the meal is scheduled sometimes.

Traveling was excellent for audiobook listening but now I have so many reviews to write. Gah.

    • I noticed that about The Search! It’s part of why I got it, but also many are not at the library as we discussed. It’s great how all the freebies are authors I already know!

  2. Maine is so pretty. I’ve been along the coast and to mid-state and love it. But, I can see how finding places that serve food for your dietary restrictions and having slow service would make you miss home a bit.
Looks like you have a nice haul for the drive home. 🙂 I’m really looking forward to Saphhire Flame.

Have a safe trip back and a good week, Anne!

    • Thank you! It was beautiful but coldish around 50. Now at home it’s 95! Luckily lobster and fish are gluten-free but I prefer veggies to the rice and potatoes we had so much of this past week. I am dying to read Sapphire Flames once I get my review calendar caught up.

  3. All the pretty books!! I just 1-clicked Big Rock as it’d be rude not to when it’s free… Can’t wait to read Sapphire Flames but I’m waiting for the release. 🙁 Also, I really need to start that Chloe Neill series.

Hope your travels home go smoothly!

  4. Big Rock is a fun book, I really liked that one.
Glad you are having a good trip. The kids and I just started an audiobook in the car to listen too when we come to the shore house. The kids enjoy it.

Have a safe trip home, Anne!

    • Thank you Michelle. The only traffic I really hated was by NYC on Saturday night as it was already dark and lots of traffic. Thankfully the rest of the trip on mostly I95 wasn’t too bad. Monday was lighter than I expected. We are home safe and sound, now onto laundry, grocery shopping, paperwork and writing reviews! I finished my Series in a Month yesterday!! I hope you had a great holiday weekend.

    • It was good, but it reminds me of how much work driving vacations are. We spend a lot of time and energy driving. Next time maybe we fly and stay in one spot all week. We did get to eat lots of seafood. And I got to listen to many audiobooks while driving.

  5. I’m glad to hear that you’ve managed to find enough places to eat on your travels, Anne; although the awareness about Gluten Free has increased in the last 10 years, it still needs planning ahead to eat out here in the UK. I’m lucky that my intolerance has reduced substantially but I still understand the difficulties and feel for coeliacs.

You’ve managed to haul a wonderful number of books. I hope you have a great week and enjoy your reads (listens) 😉

    • We did well where I planned ahead. One day I didn’t and my daughter was very grumpy about it. Some areas just don’t have as many options. We did find some amazing places and enjoyed lots of seafood and more sweets than usual. I did get lots of great books this week and had a great time listening while traveling.

    • yes it can get repetitive with the same sorts of foods available. More potatoes and rice and less fresh veggies, other than salad, than we eat at home. And a lot more sweets. But we don’t vacation all the time. We did enjoy all the seafood (which we eat lots of that at home too, but not as much lobster).

    • Thank you! It was mostly good except the day we drove 14 hours on the way home. We did get tired of the same kinds of offerings for gluten-free.

I’m really excited about Snowspelled. I was just setting up this blog and didn’t get the eARC even though it was offered to me.

    • One of the narrators for If I Only Knew is Shane East so I will enjoy it no matter what the story is. lol

We did well except one day where I didn’t plan ahead. My daughter got grumpy. I’m like, you are 22 and have a smartphone, you can look up restaurants in the app, after all I’m driving. It was 14 hours on the road that day.

    • Thank you! We did have lots of great seafood, but more sweets than usual and less fresh veggies.

I finished the Ayres books yesterday so now I have so many reviews to write! I hope you enjoy them.

  6. Minimum Wage Magic is on my wish list. I am hoping to review it for Audible. Glad your vacay has been good. I am leaving next weekend and traveling with my hubby to a conference. I will still work from the hotel, but spend my days relaxing and exploring away from the stress. I need away so I am looking forward to it. That and our trip in August!

    • I got Minimum Wage Magic because I could get it in KU and add the audible for $1.99. Also it was in the 2-1 sale last week but this way was cheaper. I hope it doesn’t go to the TBR of doom. When I own stuff, it doesn’t have a due date and I can listen to it “anytime.” I did get lots of listening in during drive time. Now to write the reviews. I am so looking forward to seeing everyone in August!

    • Thank you. It was a great haul week. You do need to get caught up because not only is Ilona Andrews the best but this series is amazing. I’m dying to sit down and read it NOW. I usually do, but I have some reviews to get caught up on because of traveling.

Anne recently posted: Rival Forces by D.D. Ayres
    • Overall, it was wonderful, but the next trip will hopefully be less driving even though I do get in lots of audiobooks. We are home safe and sound, with lots to do here. I am so happy to have met you and wish we had more time.

    • Sadly my daughter does not want to listen to audiobooks with me. She does read a lot, sometimes even the same sort of books I like. So we both use earbuds in the car. Now I have to get writing reviews for all the things I listened to while traveling.

  7. You are nicely stocked up, Anne. How fun to go to Maine, but definitely a very long drive. You would have tons of audio time. It is really hard to eat out on long trips with special dietary needs. I completely understand. Welcome back to the heat- my goodness, it’s been hot!

  8. Hope you had a great Memorial Day! And Maine sounds fabulous. I hope to visit out there one day. I love seafood, but I hear you – I imagine it is tough to find quality gluten free on the road.

Hope you have a great rest of the week!

  9. I find the same challenge on the road for my daughter who’s on a gluten free/dairy free diet. I just started the Hidden Legacy Series in preparation for Sapphire Flames! I’m just about to start book 3. This series is so great! Enjoy all of your audiobooks 🙂
