Tayla McKinnon is not a small town girl. The fashion blogger moved to Metlin with two goals in mind: help her friend start a book store and have a little fun. A year later, Tayla has made new friends, successfully launched INK, and is ready for a new challenge. Too bad she can’t get a certain rock-climbing, comic book geek off her mind.

Jeremy Allen has been playing the long game with Tayla, even though the avid outdoorsman was certain she was the one from the minute he set eyes on her. They may have different tastes, but their chemistry is undeniable.

When a job opportunity from a new fashion start-up lands in her inbox, Tayla takes it as a sign. She’s not meant for a small town, even though her best friend and her inconvenient crush are trying to convince her otherwise.

Jeremy can’t believe Tayla would be willing to leave her new life behind, but maybe he’s been playing it too cool. Summer in Metlin can sizzle, which gives Jeremy an excuse to turn up the heat.

Elizabeth Hunter does an amazing job with defining her characters and the world.  The descriptions are so lush; I feel as though I am there.  Hooked is the second book set in the small town of Medlin in California, the 7th and Main .

Tayla and Jeremy are great characters with their own unique personalities and competencies.  Tayla is smart and quite the fashionista.  Jeremy is a geek who loves to be outdoors with a wonderful family.  Neither one of them is lacking in brains or skills.

I got plenty of feelings as these friends became more.  I enjoyed their banter and the reactions and issues seemed authentic. The dates they planned were so thoughtful and fantastic! The story is relatively short at 207 pages. I could have used a bit more on the relationship once they got together.

I did figure out pretty quickly part of how Tayla could resolve her issues which happened as I expected. There were other parts – which were great – that I didn’t see coming.    I really enjoyed the aspect of the businesses and how they were promoting and working at them.  It’s another level of detail not always found in contemporary romance.   I have to wonder if Jeremy’s friend, Cary, is up next when there’s another book this fall.
