Everyone knows that there's no such thing as ghosts, but when a client claims that her house is being haunted, Ivy tries to keep her mind open and her weapons handy. If her psychic gifts and recent cases have taught her anything, it's that you're better off arming yourself for the unexpected.

Will our favorite psychic detective face down murderous ghosts? Anything is possible in Harborsmouth.

I’ve been trying to get back into the Ivy Granger series for awhile now.  I reviewed Shadow Sight, which follows this prequel novella as the first book, in June 2016, and never got back until now.  Frostbite is a very short introduction to the world and helped me back into the series.

We are introduced to the world and to her partner,  Jinx.  I enjoyed learning about her skills, psychic detective agency and watching her solve the case. Ivy has a big heart and really tries to help others.

Holidays are Hell, a point driven home when a certain demon attorney returns with information regarding a series of bloody murders. Five Harborsmouth residents have been killed and every victim has one thing in common—they are fae. Whoever is killing faeries must be stopped, but they only leave one clue behind—a piece of mistletoe floating in a pool of the victim's blood.

The holidays just got interesting. Too bad this case may drive Ivy mad before the New Year. Heck, she'll be lucky to survive Christmas.

Blood and Mistletoe is a novella which follows the first book Shadow Sight.   The setting is before the holiday and is not really a Christmas story. There is a suspected serial killer and mistletoe is part of their ritual.

Ivy isn’t thrilled to be dragged into this non-paying case.  She is cautiously looking forward to a holiday party with her new boyfriend, Ceff.  She has a small circle of friends and allies, as any true UFF heroine does develop.  She delves in to the case to see if there are 5 fae who have been killed and if so, what is similar about them.  Ivy gets some information from her witch friend, and a Hunter friend.  With their help, she is able to solve the case and enjoy her holiday with Ceff.

It’s a testament to my skill at reviewing freebie / deals emails that I got all 3 of these (Frostbite, Shadow Sight, and Blood and Mistletoe) as freebies. Next up is book 2, Ghost Light, which I purchased along with these 2 novellas and Shadow Sight and Burning Bright (book 3 )  in a set for $0.99 on September 17, 2017.

  1. Lovely reviews, Anne! I love that not only did you pick up freebies, you read AND reviewed a couple. And it looks like you enjoyed them. Well-done. (I am the worst about reading ARCs and not the books I buy, so you are inspiring me to do better with this). ♥️

    • That’s the reason I created this meme. At least for the freebies I buy. I prioritize reading by ARCS and library books because they have due dates. The things I buy go to the TBR of doom. So this works slowly on the freebie pile. I do get GREAT freebies from authors well-known that I want to try. They are usually the first books in the series or novellas as these 2 are. Now to get to the ones I buy that are just really good books. Sigh. Examples of this would be I have bought complete series by Sarah J. Maas, Robin Hobb and Pierce Brown and have only read one or none. There are more examples. More sighs. And I do really want to read them!
