The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly  @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received.

Stacking The Shelves is also a weekly meme hosted by  Tynga’s Reviews and Marlene from Reading Reality.  It’s all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.

Every week now is jam packed. My daughter is doing well with school. She had just 2 medical appointments this week.  We didn’t make it to quilting again this week because I was so tired, after picking her up from classes I slept from 1-5pm on Wednesday.  I was happy to have Thursday open to stay home and work on stuff.

I was also looking forward to this weekend to just stay home and unpack, read, cook, etc.  Sadly, I got sidetracked.  Friday I had planned to run a couple errands while she was in class. First stop was a framer to get my art work fixed up. Some needed the frames repaired, some needed new dust covers, etc.  She was able to recommend someone to do upholstery so I went over there. I liked her. She can’t do it until December but she’s reasonable and told me where to get fabric for $8 a yard.  I got a quote earlier in the week and they charge $45 a yard! So then I was out of time.  So then I took my daughter home and went back to finish at the framer, then to the garden center, Walmart and Aldi. I was going to go to Lowes since I had a 10% off coupon which expired at the end of August but I was too tired to do that and cook dinner.

Saturday I went to the fabric place recommended as they are only open Saturday /Sunday.  The traffic was horrible and a cop told me it was the first home football game. I got there, got parked, and the guy wasn’t there today. People were shocked because he is always there. The next vendor over texted him and found out he was sick but planned to be there tomorrow. I asked her to text me tomorrow morning because I don’t want to drive again if he isn’t going to be there. I did find fabric I liked. I did a return at Big Lots and then got the stuff at Lowe’s .  I had hoped to finish up by noon, but I left later morning and was not home until 4pm.

I really need to work on the yard and garden.  And I want to unpack.  I need to not go on tangents of art work or upholstering pieces and just get stuff unpacked first.  I’m excited to get everything fixed up and working well though. At least I was able to listen to my audiobook a lot in traffic and waiting, etc.  Next week is really busy so thank goodness it is only 4 days.

August Reading:  I had another good reading month but I felt like I couldn’t read fast enough.  I managed to read  26 books. Some count for more than one challenge.  I listened to  16 audiobooks, read  14 New Releases,  8  library books,  26 COYER Hunt books, and 12  Beat the Backlist books.

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.  These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):

    Nothing.

(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)

Oops these were from the Bookworm Box I signed up to try at Book Bonanza, not freebies.

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT  they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

If you like this and want to see me do the Sunday post, as often as I can manage, leave me a comment and let me know.

Anne

  1. Phew! You did run around creation this week. I’ve found myself getting bogged down in unintended projects, but I guess its okay if you already had them on the list and it involves a deal like that fabric and your Lowe’s coupon. Glad your daughter is doing well and sounds like you needed that nap. 🙂

Twenty-six books is fab considering all that you had going on. Love seeing that nearly half were backlist ones, too.

    Have a good week, Anne!

    • Thanks Sophia! Every week I think it will get better but even though I get things accomplished, new things jump on the list! lol It helps that I am going to bed a little earlier so I actually have a little time to read before I can’t keep my eyes open. Have a lovely week and holiday!

  2. It’s so easy to get side tracked. I’m learning how to say No to people so that I can focus on the things I really want to enjoy and do. It’s so hard! I want to serve people but it’s a fine balance.

    • Thanks Samantha! It’s sad when 26 books doesn’t feel like enough. But it’s only because there are so many more I want to read. Time for a reality check. I have a life outside of books plus I need to focus on the main things to accomplish and not go for some distractions. Although sometimes you have to take a deal or opportunity when it is available.

  3. I hope you get settled in more and get work in the garden….I love doing that. I have never read Kate Stewart but I definitely want to grab those up for sure.

  4. That was some project you got sidetracked onto – though do be kind to yourself… Sometimes our instincts kick in and steer us in a different direction, because we need a break from the main task – and to be honest, that thought occurred to me, because you’ve made huge inroads on your unpacking tasks in brain-boiling heat!

As for 26 books this month!!!! I’m awed… I was feeling very pleased with myself at having managed 15! I hope the coming week is a good one and that you manage to get plenty done without working yourself to a standstill:)) Take care.

    • Thank you. I hope I can do more this week. When I’m out and about all day I’m usually too tired to do much at night unless I organize a specific smaller project. I’m glad for getting things done but sad that 2 days of my 3 day weekend have been spent running around rather than just staying home.

  5. I can SO relate with the busy-ness and getting sidetracked! Sidetracked has been pretty much the norm for me all week. I have all these goals, and when I get to the end of the day, I’ve hardly made a dent on any of them. Actually, it sounds to me like you got quite a bit done; it just wasn’t what you originally planned to get done! So give yourself a pat on the back for what you did accomplish.

26 books in August sounds pretty awesome to me, especially with everything you’ve had going on!

I hope this week, you’re able to get enough of the unpacking done to start feeling “settled.” But give yourself enough time for reading and recharging your physical and emotional batteries, too!

    • Thank you! I do have to realize that even if I know all the tasks and they are all easy enough to do, they just can’t all happen the same day. And I don’t have a deadline like some event so I can take the time I need to do them. I just want to work on them but I have all the daily stuff to do. If only I could give up sleeping, eating and various shopping.

  6. Sounds like you had a busy week, but also that you got a lot done. That’s nice you had some opportunities to listen to audiobooks at least.

    • Audiobooks totally save the day. I would never finish 26 books in a month. Also I would go nuts waiting in traffic, or in line without the book to give me some interest. Also it makes house work, yard work and those things much more pleasant.

  7. I hope you enjoy your extra day off Anne! 3 day weekends rock.
I purchased Drive a while back but I haven’t read it yet. It sounds so good! I hope you enjoy it when you get around to reading it.
Fingers crossed that amongst the busy days of the week you find some quiet moments to relax a bit!

      • Life takes many turns and we can’t always keep up and stay with what we use to do. You will get their. Just nock out a few things a day and you are just little bit closer to having it all done. ^_^ I know the feeling on reading. I use to read a book a day or two and now it takes a little longer, but that’s because my life has changed. I also use to review right away after completing a book, now not so much. Hehe. Oh well! Have a wonderful September.
P.S. Sent you some more Library Love emails.

    • That’s excellent. I’m happy to be home all day although I’m going to write reviews, do laundry and yard work. I feel better when it’s done. And make some good food. One day I’ll have a day off where I read , relax and go to the pool instead of catching up on all my stuff. But I enjoy the stuff I’m doing today even if much of it is “chores”. Enjoy the pool!

    • I think every week is a busy week around the moving. But some of it is really fun, now that the moving boxes in the high heat is over. I hope I’ll get to read more this week. At least I can listen to audio while doing yardwork or cooking or folding laundry. Or even while I ran errands the last 2 days.

  8. Wow! You have been so busy and you have still gotten a ton of reading done. It is frustrating to go to a store or vendor and find that they are not open. I went to the DMV on Saturday to take care of a title and they were closed for the holiday. Frustrating! I am glad that school is going well for your daughter. I hope you enjoy your new books and have a great week!

    • Thank you Carole. I’d never read so many without audio books. I try to do my running when I am out already to take my daughter somewhere. But for this only Sat / Sun it didn’t work out. And then there were things I forgot to get or couldn’t get to on Friday. UGH.

  9. Wow that is an amazing amount of books read! Good for you!! 🙂

And all that running around – I hate having to do that, but sometimes it is unavoidable although I try really hard to avoid it. LOL. Have fun with your projects!

  10. Wow, you were busy! It’s easy to get sidetracked. Don’t beat yourself up over it. You were still accomplishing things. And reading 26 books in a month is quite an accomplishment! Go you!

    • Thank you for this. You’re right – I did still accomplish things. And the things I didn’t aren’t critical so I do have to stop criticizing myself so fiercely. I would like to read more. lol I’d never make that many books without audio books.

  11. Sounds like you had a really busy week! I hate it when I struggle to get somewhere and find out they’re closed or something. I’ve seen great things about Kate Stewart’s writing but I haven’t tried her yet. Someday! Hopefully you have a quieter week and get some unpacking done! 🙂

    • I hope I have less running but there are 5 days worth of scheduled stuff Tues – Sat so I have my doubts. I just have to plan m time wisely so I get some downtime and don’t feel like I’m always running.

    • Thank you. September should be better as I’m not moving, although I am unpacking and trying to get in the new routine. I did get things accomplished even though it wasn’t the things I planned.

  12. I love a nice short 4 day week! Hope you had a great Labor Day! It does sound like you’ve been super busy. I had so much yardwork type stuff piling up too, I finally got some done today- yay for having Monday off haha!

    Drive looks interesting.

    • I did get out and mow the lawn yesterday but it was sweaty hot. I hope to get out a bit more this week to work on the new garden bed and fall planting. We will see. It’s going to stay hot until hurricane rain comes Thursday. And I’ll be on the run every day during the day anyway. I still need to put together that new trimmer! At least I’ve got its battery on the charger now.

  13. Wow – you made me tired just reading everything you did. I hate days filled with those kinds of errands. Glad school is going well for your daughter and it’s great you found the fabric at such a great price. So are we going to get house pictures or did I miss them???

    • I didn’t really do house pics. I suppose I could do some. I’ll have to give that a thought. Every room still has boxes but I could do some outdoor ones or the neighborhood pool for a start.

  14. Glad your daughter is doing well in school but wow, you’ve had such a week! I hope things will be lighter in the upcoming days even though you can tell you’ll be busy again. But here’s to hoping you’d get through and find some time to relax!

  15. Jen

Wow… I’m exhausted just reading your week. Glad school is going well; that must take a little stress off the plate. We just started here, too, and so far, so good. Just dealing with two teens in the morning, while also now getting ready for work myself, isn’t always fun. And it will just be more challenging after BG’s surgery next week. *sigh*
