The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly  @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received.

Stacking The Shelves is also a weekly meme hosted by  Tynga’s Reviews and Marlene from Reading Reality.  It’s all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.

Sunday was another productive day at home.  I think the reason I feel like I am not getting anything done is that this flannel project is very time-consuming. I’ve been working on it more than a month.  I’m getting there but while I am doing it, I’m not doing much unpacking. It is a form of unpacking / sort/throw.

I made a decision sheet for my daughter about classes available for next Spring since the schedule was released.  I was really happy; she made a decision right away! Usually she says – I’ll think about it.  The difference is I put the options with pros/cons and questions in writing plus rating of the professors.  I may have to put it together in writing every semester.  Really, I need to teach her to organize and list her options with questions, rather than freaking out with anxiety about having a decision to make.

I continued trying to keep up / catchup with my ARCs.   The Audible 2-1 sale was a great one, especially since I have a LOT of credits to use up by the end of the year. Yes, I am a credit hoarder.  I also got the whole Tracy Crosswhite series by Robert Dugoni which I listened to on KU.  I really loved it and am sure I will listen to it again.  I’m trying to do some Blog Ahead work for end of year posts and some 2020 features.

The weather was all over the place this week. The upstairs unit auto switches between heat and A/C but the downstairs I have to set and we switched from heat to A/C and then back to heat.  It was everywhere from a sticky 82 (28C) to a frosty 26 (-3C).  There was a tornado watch on Halloween night and some high winds and rain. The neighborhood told me over 200 trick or treaters but I am not sure we had 50.  It didn’t really rain until after 9pm but it was windy.  UGH. We have SO much candy left.

We did go to quilting but left a little early since my daughter didn’t feel great.  She also had a migraine and missed her Friday classes. I know I felt disjointed after the rush and interruptions of Halloween.  Friday, I got an email about neighborhood fall cleanup which everything needs to go to the street by Monday morning.  I wish I had known sooner but I guess it wouldn’t make that much difference. I had the leaves all to the back last weekend and now the yard is covered again.

I REALLY really wanted to go to a Faith Hunter signing on Saturday since I love her and this latest book was amazing.  It would have been a nice Harley day trip too.  But it is the first 2 day weekend I have had in awhile since the dog training is finished and I just want to be home and work on some unpacking.  I’ve cleared the boxes in my room now with the blankets fitted nicely in my underbed storage. My daughter’s blankets are also going in a tote under her bed.  I mostly relaxed today (Saturday), so I hope to make more progress tomorrow.

October Reading:  I had a good reading month.  I managed to read 24 books with my travels making me too tired to read many days. Some count for more than one challenge.  I listened to 12 audiobooks, read 20 New Releases,  4 library books,   and 4 Beat the Backlist books.  I have met all my challenges for the year.

I’ll do a full post in early December with all the information.  I hope you will join me!  I’ll create a linkup each day so you can easily find everyone’s favorites.   Grab the Top 10 button for your posts. Thanks to Michelle at Limabean Designs for the button!

I finally decided on a series. I wish I could do more.  I have chose the Green Valley Library series from Smartypants Romance.  I read the first book already  and have the next 3 eARCs as they are releasing this month.

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.  These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):

Thank you so much SocialButterflyPR, Forever (Grand Central Publishing) ( I requested Lethal Redemption on Netgalley and got it, then I got paperback ARCs of it plus Forever and a Duke in the mail!)  , AceRoc / Berkley Publishing,  and Tantor Audio.

(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)

I spent some of my credits this week at the Audible 2-1 sale! So it’s a lot but I have a lot of credits to use before December.  Thanks to Jonetta and Carole for suggestions!

Front Page Fatality was an Audible Daily Deal. I love Therese Plummer, the narrator.  I also got all six Audible Originals for November free by pre-ordering, but I’m not going to put the graphics up for all of them.   I’ve always enjoyed Cynthia Eden and this 3 book box set was on sale for $0.99.  The first book,  The Devil in Disguise is a freebie I had since 2017. I read it today and enjoyed it.  I think it’s still free.

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT  they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

If you like this and want to see me do the Sunday post, as often as I can manage, leave me a comment and let me know.

Anne

  1. I know what you mean about having to choose a quiet weekend to just be home even if there is a fun, exciting choice. Our Halloween was blustering and cold with rain snow mix so no one was out. I figured as much so I sent all the candy to work with my husband so it was out of the house. 🙂
Nice picks for the Audible sale.
I’m doing three in the Children of the Sea series for Can You Read a Series in a Month. It’s an old series that I never finished so it will feel good to get it done.
I’d like to participate in your Top 10 posts. I’ll have to check with Shari on that one and maybe do the audio one on Hot Listens with Loupe and Melanie. 🙂

    • I’m going to try to send some candy with my daughter to college. If I don’t eat it all this weekend. I love the Read a Series in a Month and enjoyed it so much in May. But now with the moving stuff I hope I can do it justice with only 3 books. I hear congrats are in order for you! I hope you can do a Top 10 post whether it is 1 day or all 5. It’s a fun thing (although the decisions are tough) and then I don’t worry about a bunch of reviews for the holiday period as much.

  2. A flannel project sounds fun. I’ve got an enormous theater blog review project in the making, come check it out when you have a chance. Maybe you’ll recognize more Minnesota theaters.

    • I will! I know more than one theater and visited several in Minnesota over the years. Also, did you ever go to the Old Creamery Theater in Garrison Iowa? I went with my parents in the early days and it was fun. Some of the actors ended up in MN at the Guthrie and other places too. Such fun.

    • 24 is slow for me this year. I need to read it all plus the things I see you reading. lol. Thanks for your recommendations for Audible. I still have plenty of credits so I am sure I will be finishing out some series. I’ve been waiting because I can always use them but I get a better value in the sales and daily deals. I’m actually thinking about using them and then cancelling right before Black Friday and then see if I can get a new annual subscription on a deal.

    • I LOVE Karin Slaughter – she’s going to be on some lists since I discovered her this year and now I can’t get enough. I hope you will join me on some Top 10 and thanks for visiting I’ll check out your event as well. It looks fun and the info comes from Goodreads info. I post all my annual challenge updates 1/5/ 2020 so I could do it then.

  3. Blimey – 24 books is a SLOW month for you??? I’ve never managed to read that many. It sounds like a really busy, productive week for you. I’m afraid as my friend was staying over, we decided to give Halloween a miss, so didn’t decorate the window. As a result there were no knocks on the door and no sweets left for us to eat – both of us don’t want to be any heavier, so that was a solid result. Have a great week, Anne:).

  4. Your week sounds very dense, Anne! You got a lot done, even if you don’t feel like it. And unpacking can be such a huge task it’s hard to actually get started right.
I’m glad you got some good books in during October, I need to check some of them out.
I hope your daughter is feeling better today. And yay for getting her to choose her classes for next semester with some help with your pros and cons and professor ratings. You’re a fantastic mom.
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.

    • Thank you Linda! I try to do everything I can and sometimes it doesn’t feel like I am progressing much. I love when I can combine tasks like listening to an audiobook while working on the flannel or unpacking.

  5. I like how you arranged the list so your daughter could make choices right away.

Enjoy your books. I love Karin Slaughter’s books.

Have a great week, and thanks for sending positive vibes my way.

  6. Anne I am always exhausted reading your posts! How do you manage to do all this in one week??? And a tornado watch would have had me hiding under the bed!

  7. Such a busy week you had!

It’s so hard to juggle doing everyday things and unpacking, but I’m getting there. We still have a ton of boxes in the garage but that’s alright. I’m falling behind on my reading and I need to concentrate a bit more on that.

Hope you have a great week!

  8. Unpacking sure takes a lot of time right. We still haven’t finished either! Honestly it doesn’t feel like it’s coming to an end any time soon. Sigh..
It sure sounds like you had a good reading month. 24 books is pretty damn good.
Have a great week and happy reading!

  9. My favorite weekends are the ones spent completely at home. It doesn’t happen often but it is wonderful when it does. Wow, you did clean up at the Audible sale! I hope you enjoy them all 🙂 I am sorry to hear that your daughter had a migraine this past week. Those are terrible. I hope you have a great week, Anne!

  10. You definitely deserved a quite weekend. Glad your daughter was able to make easy work of class decisions with your help. Seems like you found a system. I love your year-end posts and think I may join you!

  11. vvb

I want to get to organizing the home too, but mostly to prepare for the holidays and decorations related. Good luck with your latest reading challenge.

  12. Jen

Sounds like a pretty good week. Bummed you won’t be attending the Faith Hunter event – but I bet you’ll enjoy being home. I may join you in the top 10 lists in December – maybe get a couple from each of my reviewers to make TEN things! Thanks.

    • My daughter ended up being sick all weekend so it’s a good thing I didn’t go I’d love it if you do Top 10 with me! I find them to be fun and easy posts except it’s not easy to pick the books!

  13. Our weather has been flipping from freezing to hot, too! It’s hot again this week, but not for long because the days are short. You’re an amazing mom to organize college choices like that! Wow, I wouldn’t even think to do that.

I really loved Into the Darkest Corner in audio form. It kept me on the edge of my seat, listening while stripping wallpaper from walls. My husband kept thinking I hurt myself every time I gasped, but no, it was the book! Enjoy, Anne and have a great week!

    • Thank you! I love organizing and planning. I did it when I was in college as I had a double major and a minor and still finished in 4 years, no summers. I think I could get overwhelmed with decisions too but I just write it down and research things to death . So I’m hoping she can learn to do that to reduce her anxiety.

Now I have so many great audios. I want to listen.

  14. We were cleaned out of candy at Halloween! It was crazy busy here. The weather wasn’t too cold or wet either which was nice as it had been horrible all week up to Halloween and the weekend was also awful.

I read Gwynneth Ever After years ago and remember enjoying it.

Hope you have another good week, Anne! Well done on completing your challenges for the year!

  15. My goodness, your weather really was all over the place! We had the hottest Halloween on record this year with a high of 90. Ugh. How awesome that you were still able to read 24 books with all you had going on in October. And so many great new books added! Hope this week is a good one for you, Anne!

  16. I hate to unpack so much! I moved back to Puerto Rico in July and I still have 3 luggages that are filled with clothes. I don’t want to unpack them, mostly because I’m lazy LOL And also because I’m hoping to move soon!
