The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly  @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received.

Stacking The Shelves is also a weekly meme hosted by  Tynga’s Reviews and Marlene from Reading Reality.  It’s all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.

Every day with nothing scheduled I work on everything I can and don’t seem to get enough accomplished. I’ve spent a lot of days on blog posts, emails, blog hopping because I am behind right now and never feel like I catch up.  I still have to squeeze in the laundry, dishes, cooking etc.  I am still working on the flannel project. The sorting is complete; now I am cutting and putting it into the kits.

Monday only had a 10% chance of rain but it was cold 40s (5C) and rainy all day.  It’s a busy day. My daughter didn’t feel great so she did her classes and then rested before her med appt.  I grocery shop during her appts.  Tuesday and Wednesday I did lots of blog ahead type work for ICYMI, Library Love and next year’s Read-along (Mercy Thompson by Patricia Briggs).  There was also reading and reviews to do.  Both my daughter and I were up way too late on Tuesday night – I read until 3 AM! – so no quilting on Wednesday.

Thursday was another medical appt with shopping. I finally figured out why I feel like I get nothing accomplished. I KNOW THIS! I just have to keep reminding myself. First, when you have a big project like the flannel project or “empty all the boxes and put everything away or get rid of it (sell/donate. etc)”  it IS a big project and will take weeks or months. SO you need to break it down and say I will empty all the boxes for the bathroom or some other portion which can be done in a day and feel satisfied. Or you need to take a break and do some actually small project to completion. Like all the blog work I finished the last couple days.

Friday was gorgeous weather but I had a rough night and didn’t manage to do much other than some errands.  Saturday was rainy. We decided to just do something fun. First we stopped at the grand opening of a Tropical Smoothie Cafe owned by a neighbor and got smoothies for $1.99.  Next, we went to an event at a General store with crafty things and bought some apple butter and peach butter. We got lobster tacos, lobster bisque and blueberry soda at the food truck.  We checked out a quilting store in that area also. It was fun to just take off for about 3 hours.

Next week we have lots of fun things happening, so stay tuned.  Happy Thanksgiving!  I am so grateful for all of you.  Thank you for reading and visiting.

The Signup for 2020 Library Love Challenge is open!

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.  These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):

Thank you so much Berkley Romance,  and Montlake Romance.

(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT  they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

If you like this and want to see me do the Sunday post, as often as I can manage, leave me a comment and let me know.

Anne

  1. Oh yes, breaking it down into smaller tasks does give one a feel of accomplishment. I’ve noticed that plus its a way to tick things off a list easier. You really are getting a ton done. Your Saturday sounded fun.

Oh, nice haul. I got the second Bromance book and the Kendra Elliot, too.

    Have a nice week, Anne!

    • Exactly! If a project is going to take months one needs to break it down to have any feeling of actually finishing something. It’s also helpful for prioritizing. It was fun even with the rain. We don’t just do stuff like that very often and I hope we will once I get the unpacking done. Or at least I will have more time for cooking and crafts.
Yes, I am drowning in great books right now. Have a great week and Happy Thanksgiving!

  2. 100% YES! Breaking it down is something I tend to not do also. I get big projects, feel like I don’t make a dent and then bail out or they never get finished. I need to remember that!!!

All your need books look awesome!
Have a great week, Anne! I will have an email for you today. Just need to relook at it before sending it to you.

  3. And that’s a top tip – breaking down big projects into smaller ones:)). It sounds like you had a busy week. I always think you accomplish a great deal, as it happens. I’m now in the middle of the novel, so I try and set small targets on a weekly basis:)). I hope the coming week is a good one – and have a very Happy Thanksgiving!

    • Yes, in that situation I work and with my unpack /sort/throw I pick one room or one closet at a time to make it more doable in a day or two and then I feel that accomplishment. Good luck; it’s difficult work. Happy Thanksgiving to you!

  4. I want that lobster taco Anne! And stay strong with all that you have to do all the time! Sending you hugs from belgium.

  5. Breaking things down into smaller achievable tasks is the only way I get housecleaning done, otherwise it’s too overwhelming and dispiriting because we’re a family of 6 in a reasonable small space. One list item is ‘wipe over all the light switches’ 🙂

Wishing you a great reading week, and a happy Thanksgiving

    • Ugh housecleaning is the worst because it doesn’t stay done. It has to be done over and over. It’s weird. I don’t mind cooking, laundry and dishes but I abhor dusting and vacuuming. Thank you! I hope to do more and maybe even relax and just do something fun over the long weekend. Although I like most everything, except the dusting/vacuuming part.

  6. Breaking things down or setting a timer works for me. If I set a timer for say 20 minutes and tell myself that I need to focus on a task for just that amount of time, it is amazing how much I can get done. I used to set the timer for the whole family to clean the house. They didn’t complain too much because it was just 20 minutes but you would be amazed how much we could accomplish when we all worked on it.

Nice new reads this week. I just bought The Bromance Book Club and hope to read it soon. Have a great week!

    • I might try a timer with my daughter. It’s hard to get her to start anything sometimes, even for a short time. It is amazing how much can be done in a very short time. When I am cooking dinner, which almost always means steaming vegetables for 15-20 minutes I use that time to pick up/ clean up and prep future meals in the kitchen. It might be loading or unloading the dishwasher, filling my daughter’s pill boxes, getting stuff together for packing lunches, checking if I have all the ingredients or thawing meat for tomorrow’s dinner. That’s automatic, to best use my time and not burn dinner.

  7. My to-do list always has lots of broken down tasks on it so that I can feel accomplished from getting so much done, even though I technically still have a lot to do. I think feeling accomplished keeps me going, so it’s a good mind trick I play on myself lol!

Sounds like you got a lot done this week, despite feeling like you still have a lot to do. I mean, really, when does the work stop, right?

I hope you have a great week and Thanksgiving <3

    • Yes exactly. I plan to have a great week both productive and having some just do what I want time. Although I want to do it all and I enjoy most of it. But like last night while I enjoyed doing things until 1am, now I want to go to bed at 6pm tonight. lol

  8. I find it overwhelming to try to sort and decide what to do with everything. I’m sure breaking it in into smaller tasks helps and that’s what I need to do more of.

I have to admit I’m quite jealous you get so many books read and reviewed, Anne! I’m behind in my reading and have managed very few reviews.

    • The break down into smaller chunks is critical and I am so much happier when I remind myself to do it.

I created a spreadsheet for myself with multiple workbooks to plan my reading and reviewing. It is a grueling schedule and I don’t always manage it well. I did this the first time for a COYER list and now I need it all the time. I do print it and then I mark all over it and reprint about once a week. I print one side with the review schedule with info I need for the upcoming 3 months, along with a hopefully short list of ARCS not scheduled. The other side is my library / KU lists with due dates etc. I’d be happy to email you a copy if you are really interested. The KEY is to be flexible and make changes as needed. Sometimes I’m not in the mood. Also audiobooks made the MAIN difference in the quantity of books I can read a year because I listen while I do other things and I do. It added about 150 books to my reading this year (total reading may be close to 300?). Without audiobooks, I would only read half as many.

  9. I agree, breaking down projects does help tackle them. It feels better mentally, anyhow. We’re about to get a ton of rain here in Southern California and of course it’s the day before Thanksgiving when the storm is set to arrive, which will make a tough commute a complete nightmare. I’m not looking forward to tomorrow at all! I’ll be glad when I’m finished with the day.

I hope you enjoy The Bromance Book Club as much as I did, and I hope we both love Undercover Bromance! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, Anne! 🙂

    • Thank you Rachel! I saw they were getting a bunch of snow yesterday and today in Minnesota. It’s actually supposed to be nice tomorrow for Thanksgiving so I think we will grill Salmon and have chard from the garden. Then when it rains on Friday I’ll make the turkey breast. We are going to be so relaxed this year with just the two of us which is fantastic. We hope to tackle some of those broken down projects.

    • I love tacos! They were great. We’ve already gotten into the apple butter. We bought the peach version and some strawberry-rhubarb jam also. Yay for the food weekend it will be. I made chicken pot pie last night which is one of our favorites.

  10. I hope you and your family has a great Thanksgiving. Down Among the Sticks and Bones is my favorite in that series. I love Jack and Jill and am so glad Jack is the focus of the edition coming out in January.

    • Thank you! We are going to be quite relaxed for the holiday. I have not read Seanan McGuire but I want to! I own several of her books. Now to find the time. I was excited that Down Among the Sticks and Bones was Tor’s free book this month.

  11. That is a great tip Anne! I’m trying to make a blogging plan for 2020 at the moment.. I just really like to feel a little more prepared than I feel now! LOL!
    Happy thanksgiving and happy reading.

    • Thank you! It helps me to be specific rather than just say generally I want to get setup for 2020. Last night and this morning I went ahead and did setups for all ARCS I have received which includes some out to March 2020 release dates. I hope you figure out various things you can get organized in advance.

  12. I’ve spent the entirety of November behind and hating it so I’m on a concentrated push to catch up on all the comments and thing’s I missed! My goal is tomorrow but I’m on a roll for once!
Wishing you luck on catching up too!

I think I’ll definitely be joining in with the Mercy readalong next year. I tried the series back when it first released and wasn’t happy with book one because I was more of a PNR fan and didn’t really understand or appreciate UF. That has now changed completely but I’ve still never went back to try again… Your readalong gives me that push!

    • Oooh I couldn’t be more excited! I would love to have you join the Mercy Read-along. I hope that having it one book every 4 weeks it is doable. I’m trying to get caught up a bit too but it’s hard. Even with all the time off this week, I have not gotten around to all the blog posts I have wanted to read / comment.

    • Well that’s why I had to break it down to smaller pieces so I could accomplish some of them. Or I’d go nuts. On my list for this weekend. Of 11 things I’ve done 3. But some of the things on the list are too big and that’s why.

  13. Cleaning would sure be easier for me if I could follow through on my decluttering! Just not enough time.
You have a nice book haul.
Enjoy your week and Happy Reading!

    • I’ve totally given up on feeling any guilt over grabbing freebies, if I ever did really. I only feel guilt about anyone else seeing how many. But I’m reading almost a book a day these days and when I’m moody, its good to have some options.

I didn’t get it right away but I saw great reviews for the Bromance Book Club so when the second one was offered I went ahead and got both of them.
