Series on Saturday: Necromancers @HaileyEdwards @ericrasher @LKHamilton @sblackmoore @CJ_Archer @LishMcBride‏ #Giveaway

This is a new feature I developed where each month we will look at our favorite – the best – series in a genre.

The genre here, by my definition,  is a series where the main character is a necromancer. These are the ones which came to mind or which I enjoyed.  I haven’t read all of these series.

Since I haven’t read everything, it’s a subset of the possibilities.  I’m sure I am forgetting some great authors. There are also plenty of authors I have yet to read. Please share your favorites with me in the comments, also.

My favorite Necromancer series are (in no particular order):

The Beginner’s Guide to Necromancy           Eric Carter                                              Vesik
by Hailey Edwards                                             by Stephen Blackmoore                   by Eric Asher

The Ministry of Curiosities                         Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter              Necromancer
by CJ Archer                                                       by Laurell K. Hamilton                         by Lish McBride

What are your favorite series?

Vote for your top 3 favorites! You can vote for my favorites or add favorites of your own. Please tell us your top three (or top 1 or 2) in your comments.  Remember this vote is how the winning option is chosen for the giveaway.

Then enter the giveaway below.  The winner will get the first book in the winning series! Open to anyone who can receive an Amazon digital ebook.

  1. Oooh… this is a tricky one. I don’t that many Necromancer series, but I’ll give it a try. I’ve heard of most of the ones in your vote list.

The Journals of Octavia Hollows is the only one I had in my reading lists unless I count ghost seers and whisperers. 🙂

  2. The Hailey Edwards series has been on my radar for a while so I’d like to read that one at some point.

I don’t read many that have necromancers but The Journals of Octavia Hollows is a lot of fun. She’s a necromancer and the books are all novella length (and available as an audio boxset).

  3. I haven’t read too many series with Necromancers, but I’m making a list from this post. LOL I was really into the Anita Blake series for a long while. I got tired of the series though and set it aside. I’ve yet to go back. Maybe someday . . .

  4. I do like the Anita Blake series, especially those early books when she is doing a lot of necromancy. I feel like I have read several other series with necromancers but none are coming to mind. I do need to get started with the Hailey Edwards series.

Anita Blake is the only one that I’ve read, though some are already on my TBR. I feel like there is someone that is missing that I can’t think of, but have no idea who it would be. I could be crazy too.

This is an interesting genre – I guess I’ve never really thought about Necromancers as the focus of a series – but clearly they are out there. I know of series that have necromancy as part of the world – for example Harry Dresden – but it’s not a Necromancer series. I’ll have to pay more attention. Thanks!
