The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly  @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.

Stacking The Shelves is also a weekly meme hosted by  Tynga’s Reviews and Marlene from Reading Reality.  It’s all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.

This week has gone by in a blur and I didn’t write bits here and there so I don’t remember what all happened. Monday and Tuesday had medical appointments around which I ran some errands. Wednesday was the first day of classes for my daughter’s spring session.  She seems to like her teachers and her classes.

I like that I was able to plugin my hybrid both days with no problem, even though there are only 2 stations.  Also, there is excellent shopping within just 2-3 miles of the campus. There is Walmart, Target, BJs, Sam’s Club, Aldis and many other stores.  These locations all have a better selection of gluten free products than the ones near our home.

Wednesday, we were too tired, after her first day, to go to quilting. Thursday we were thrilled to stay home and not go anywhere.  Mondays and Fridays will be long days out leaving at about 9am for 2-3 classes, followed by a medical appointment and not getting home until 4:30-5. Wednesday, we get home earlier, but then go out again to quilting. But at least them we can have Tuesday and Thursday more open and more at home.

I worked on blog stuff, cooking, analyzing investments, paying bills and the usual laundry, cleaning, especially Thursday. I am doing much better with audiobooks than ebooks still.  I’ve gotten some great things from the library and I’m devouring them rather than my ARCs.  Today (Saturday), I am making chicken tortilla soup and working the flannel project again. I cleaned up and organized more of the sewing supplies. I was going to make review setups for my new ARCs but when I looked I had already done it!

Our next door neighbor has a 7 day old baby boy, so I’m going to take over chicken tortilla soup and a handmade receiving blanket tomorrow.  Also,  we are working on rebuilding the steps to the backyard  the last 2 days.  Sunday, I also hope we will be doing some garage organization. The weather has been fantastic, 60-70F, around 20C.

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.  These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):

Thank you to the publishers for the exciting new listens – Harper/Harlequin Audios, Brilliance Audio, Tantor Audio,

Thank you for the latest Mercy Thompson book – Smoke Bitten – AceRoc books.

(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)

NOTHING.

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT  they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

If you like this and want to see me do the Sunday post, as often as I can manage, leave me a comment and let me know.

Anne

  1. Yeah, sometimes I look back and wonder where the week went since I can’t remember doing all that much though I must have since the place is relatively clean and stuff got done.
Glad she’s enjoying her new classes and teachers. Looks like you have a nice plan to fit in some quiet days between the busy ones.
How sweet to take over the soup and blanket to the family of the newborn. I love knowing that some people can still be neighborly these days. Your new home projects will keep you busy, but great that you have mild temps for the back porch one.
I got Diamonds are a Ghost’s Best Friend in my haul, too. I tore into it even though I have others that should have come first. Just got a library book that I’ve been on the wait list for weeks so it is definitely going to bump a few arcs. I’ve had a cold and my eyes are puffy and burning so I’ve done more audio books this week, too.

    Have a great week, Anne!

    • It has been a good week overall. Being out in the car for about 8 hours a day is exhausting though. I had to plan so we could have those opener days for medical appointments and time to work on things. On her class days I figured out her schedule so she has an hour between classes for lunch and potty breaks and such.

So many people are sick! I hope you feel better soon. Happy reading!

  2. I feel like most weeks are pretty busy. There is just always so much to do! It is nice that you are cooking for your neighbor. I am sure that they will appreciate it and I am glad that your daughter likes her classes so far. I seem to be speeding through audios much faster than anything else but I know that has a lot to do with the fact that I can listen while I work, which is where I am 5 days a week. Nice new reads this week! I plan to start Almost Just Friends very soon and I don’t think I will be able to wait too long to start reading Smoke Bitten. I hope you have a great week!

    • I know! Everything I get I want to start right away and sometimes I have to wait. With Smoke Bitten I am debating about reading now or waiting to the end of the Read-along but don’t think I can wait. And the audiobooks are easier for me with the errands and sitting in the car and such while my daughter is in class and when we are traveling. I can listen to one audiobook a day then. Yesterday I listened to a shorter one while I worked on the flannel project.

  3. Some awesome audios there Anne! I hope you enjoy Alchemist and An Amaretto! The book after – Druid Vices – was the best of the series for me so far but has left me so anxious for book 7 in July! But at least there is more Robin and Zylas to come before then. 🙂 Have you read/listened to the Demonized sister series yet? I don’t remember you mentioning it but know the audios were delayed.

I’m sure your neighbour will love the soup and blanket! I remember when the little dude was born I was so grateful for food! lol. Keeping up with cooking was so hard so any meal my husband or I didn’t have to cook was most gratefully received. 🙂

    • I listened to the first Demonized audio right not quite 2 weeks ago. I’m listening to The Alchemist today while flanneling. I love seeing Tori’s impressions of Robin. The second Demonized audio is due Feb so I’ll get it pretty soon. I have the ebook from KU but as much as I want to read it I am out of time for doing so.

Tonight I”m making a batch of Cashew Chicken which is one of my daughter’s current favorites so she will have leftovers for school lunches this week.

  4. I am glad your daughter enjoyed her first day of classes, but those medical appointments certainly drive a horse and cart through your daily routine, don’t they? I hope the coming week is a bit easier, Anne!

    • Yes having at least 3-4 medical appointments every week is a tough schedule with the almost full class load. The less frequent stuff like dentist, optometrist, dermatology and general checkups we schedule for school breaks. Until we finish the gastro specialist stuff it will be a full schedule but at least we’ve solved the OBGYN issues. She’s made a lot of progress this past year. She was still in a wheelchair at the start of last year.

We enjoy being busy and we enjoy being home. It’s all good.

  5. I am glad your daughter is enjoying her classes and like her teachers. I hope you both have a great spring semester. gook luck with your garage project! I bet the mom of the newborn will be grateful for your efforts. That is so kind of you. I hope you enjoy all your new books! I’m really curious about Shalvis’ new book. Have a great week, Anne!

  6. Looks like you had a really busy week there and garage organization is always something which makes a difference. and so happy to see all those freebies, they look fabulous. Hope you enjoy reading them.

  7. I love when the stores are so close by. I purposely moved to my neck of the woods for that reason. And it couldn’t be more perfect because it’s not over populated and there’s not too much traffic.

  8. It sounds like a busy week! I’m glad you daughter likes her new classes! Looks like you got a lot of good books, and I’m going to need to check out some of those freebies. I’m looking forward to reading Jill Shalvis’ new book! Have a great week and happy reading!

  9. Homemade chicken tortilla soup sounds amazing! I am sure your neighbor will appreciate it and the receiving blanket!

Hopefully you’ll be able to settle into a nice routine on the longer days and enjoy your free weekdays as well!

  10. Melanie

Sounds like a pretty good week. Things are getting better for me, but I’m still struggling to keep up with blogging. I got some books read and I’m only behind by two reviews that need written. I’m hoping that next month will be less busy.

    • It was a decent week. The more the house gets into shape the better I feel. I can’t wait until things are mostly in place and I can just do craft projects and things without having unpacking/sorting/throwing to do all the time. I feel behind on the blog but I’m slowly catching up and doing a bit further ahead. Again easier when I don’t have so much time on house projects. I hope you have a great week!

  11. I want to try making chicken tortilla soup. I had it once out of a can, and it was kind of gross. I know it can be awesome if I make it myself. I just need to find the motivation. Have a great week!

    • I have only had homemade. I got the recipe from a friend who won’t even give out the recipe anymore. It’s mainly chicken broth, onions, zucchini, corn (I use frozen), canned diced tomatoes, and tomato soup and some spices. Oh and I use shredded rotisserie chicken or chicken breasts. You can add tortilla chips or shredded cheddar but I don’t always. I cook it in the crockpot. The original recipe has a can of condensed tomato soup but I don’t use that because it isn’t gluten free. I just use a tomato bisque. It’s not spicy. I am always looking for good soup recipes.

  12. I don´t eat glutenfree but finding food without any sugar in it is almost as hard as finding more glutenfree food in our supermarket. So I know what you are talking about. Have a great new week and happy reading/ listening *smile*

  13. Wow, sounds like you had a great week. When I was in college, I always tried to get my classes scheduled for 2 or 3 days and it did make for some long ones. I think either way can work out but you have to get in the right mindset. The tortilla soup sounds awesome and now I’m hungry. Good thing lunch is soon. How neat there is a new baby next door and how kind of you to take things over. Good neighbors are hard to find now a days.

    • We got everything into the 3 days since we are driving to a farther away campus because of one class not offered by the one next to our house. But the shopping up there is fantastic. I love the stores which are some of the same ones as in our suburb but they are nicer and all close together. Our new house is in a neighborhood which has events and activities and so far we like it. Everybody we have met is nice.

I’ve been doing a lot more buying books and reading than ARCs. That’s my goal for this year – just take the reading pressure off a bit. Hope you have a good week!
