The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.
Stacking The Shelves is also a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Marlene from Reading Reality. It’s all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!
Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.
Sunday, I did my usual blog visiting and laundry. I also finished up 2 small projects which had been sitting around since December. I had all the leftover pieces from the new kitchen flooring in a pile in the living room. Stupidly, we didn’t keep any of the boxes. I saw one that looked the right size in a Walgreen’s dumpster last week, on top, and it turned out to be exactly the right size. I packed up all the pieces and closed up the box and stored it in the garage. I also had a couple of boxes of business papers, a space heater and 2 old desktop computers which were in the upstairs hall waiting to go into the attic. I cleaned up the computers ( both 3.5″ and 5.25″ drives) and packed them in clean garbage bags, and then got everything into the attic.
Monday, we had our chiro/massage appt and then my daughter had her regular therapy appt. I went to Aldis and Trader Joes and was able to get the milk, eggs, fruits and veggies I wanted. On the way home, we had Walmart pickup for the frozen items we needed. I scheduled it last Friday. It looks like now they only show today, tomorrow with no availability but it wasn’t busy when I was there. My daughter’s therapist has it set up to do online session next week, so we don’t have to leave at all until March 30 unless we need groceries.
My Kindle Fire has been sporadic about charging . Today, I tried all the things I know to do but it wouldn’t charge. I called support and they had no other ideas, so I ordered a new one. It was just over 2 years old. They did offer me a trade-in of $5 and a discount. So it’s the worst possible week for it to fail. I can read books on my phone or computer but not eARCs. At least I can also listen to audiobooks but my phone is going to be on constant workout. Oh now I can see eARCs on my phone! I would swear they were never there before.
I was almost lethargic this week. I was picky about my reading, slept more than usual, couldn’t decide what to eat. I made a list of things to do and didn’t. Finally, my new Kindle arrived Friday night. OK I finally did some mending. I’m keeping up on setting up blog posts as the ARCs arrive. We haven’t been out in a week now which is fine. Hopefully, with my daughter starting classes again this week, online I’ll feel more like doing something.
COYER Quarantine is starting on Monday. This begins the start of a new COYER world which lasts the entire year with monthly Book club, buddy reads, and Read-a-Thons. It’s also a fabulous support group for all of us readers.
Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality. These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):
Thanks so much to Berkley, St. Martin’s Press, and Ace.
(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)
NOTHING.
Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.
I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.
I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.
If you like this and want to see me do the Sunday post, as often as I can manage, leave me a comment and let me know.
Anne
The world feels kind of surreal right now. I never imagined it would come to this. I’m still going to work for as long as that lasts and am all stocked up just in case. Be well:) And enjoy the new ARCs.
Thank you. Do LOTS of hand washing and maybe wear gloves? There are certainly oodles of freebies right now and some free months of KU but I already signed up with a deal.
Many new ones to me there! I hope you’ll have a good time.
Thank you. Lots of freebies available this week and lots of time to peruse reading options.
I’m glad you got your replacement kindle – now is not the time to be without it! I’m glad you were able to get all you needed at the store, we were too. Sending you Elbow hugs! Stay safe ❤️
Thank you! Stay safe and keep in touch with us. It’s not hard to stay home when you have a support group as strong as the COYER folks. (are there any men in there?)
Glad you’re keeping busy during isolation. I’m going to do an online improv class today, should be fun!
I’m so happy to hear there is online improv. That’s wonderful.
I downloaded Melinda Leigh’s newest book, and hope to read it soon.
Staying in my apartment feels kind of cozy, despite the reason for the isolation. I have been rearranging furniture again.
Enjoy your week.
We’ve definitely been sleeping more and weird hours as we pretty much ignored DST so we go to bed later and get up later. But this week was spring break. Now my daughter will have online school and I’ll have my Kindle. I have been doing more cooking, tried a new recipe last night which was yummy. Vodka sauce for pasta with scallops. I’d been trying to find / tweak a recipe for that sauce and I have done it.
If ever there was a time to not be without the Kindle it’s now. I had to laugh at the $5 trade-in but I guess they didn’t even have to do that. I haven’t been able to concentrate on reading but maybe this coming week will change.
IKR? I think the only thing wrong with it is the port connector but they probably can’t sell a used one for much. At least they are paying the shipping, otherwise it wouldn’t be worth it even. I’ve had some trouble concentrating and some nights sleeping. I am not one with anxiety normally but this is an unusual situation.
i have had one kindle, that i won, die, but my very first one, a kindle fire, that mr wonderful bought me back in 2012 is still going strong. lucky me. 🙂 hope you enjoy your new one
My first one also from 2012 lasted 5.5 years and this last one only a little over 2 years. The new ones are lighter and this new one has twice the memory of the last one. I’m enjoying having it available to read day or night now.
My Kindle did that and I was just starting to figure out the new Kindle when suddenly it was back to charging- though not like it had before. So, now I have two and will use the old one until it gives up the ghost. 🙂
Sorry about the feeling of lethargy. I struggle to force myself to stick to projects at home and get to the chores I never have time for. It’s tough making new habits for all of us. Oh well, I’ll get there.
I missed the announcement about the new COYER so I’ll have to head over and check it out.
Have a great week, Anne!
It charged sometimes for awhile but now it won’t seem to charge at all. YAY for the new COYER!
Have a healthy week and enjoy some great books!
Urg! I think only last 2 years is dire – but then my Kindle from 2012 is still going strong and I use it a LOT. And what dreadful timing that it chose NOW to pack up! Not surprised that you have been feeling a bit lethargic, but then you are normallly a whirlwind of activity. Have a peaceful, healthy week, Anne.
Thank you. Yeah 2 years isn’t all that long and it was a rotten time to go south. I’m happily back with my new one now but I’m still being really fussy and moody over what to read. And I’m having trouble with some audio which is really unusual.
They’ve suspended all supermarket pickup and delivery services here temporarily because demand has outstripped the logistics of supply.
I’m glad you were able to replace your Kindle so quickly, though two years seems too short a ‘life’.
Wishing you a great reading week, be well!
Thank you! It will be a much better reading week with the new Kindle. There’s a few odd differences but I’m glad to have it. I’ve noticed some stores are doing better with pickup / delivery than others. And some stores which didn’t offer it much are doing it now.
Great book haul!
Take care and happy reading.
Thanks Angela! There was an explosion of freebies offered this week. I hope to get a bit more organized and do more reading and more projects this week.
Be safe and healthy and enjoy some good books this week!
Here in Germany are all schools closed. The kids in my neighborhood do digital classes. Not an ideal situation but better than nothing. Hope your daughter is copying well with the Corona situation. Stay safe, keep your physical distance from others and stay healthy! I am glad that you´ve got a kindle replacement. Hang in there and happy reading.
Thanks Vi! We don’t mind being home. It’s spring break but starting tomorrow my daughter will get to try online classes. I didn’t want her to take all online classes before because she is isolated enough but it’s the best thing for now. I hope to do better with reading now having the new Kindle.
I did a walmart order on Friday and there was only 1 time available (6-7 on Saturday). I tried to do shipt, but apparently all their times are taken up very early in the morning when the “open” them. I taught from home all week, which was interesting!
Stay healthy!
I did a Walmart order Friday 13th but haven’t been able to do one again. They seem always full. I’ve been putting stuff in the cart and will try to check it early in the morning when we actually need to do it. I did place an Aldi order for this Wednesday. They had ones for today but I don’t need it yet.
I think being picky and not focusing is what’s happening to many people right now Anne. Stay safe!
Thank you! I don’t like the unsettled feeling of it.
I stayed in most of the week too. I ran out once to get a few things and will have to hit the store sometime this week. Glad your new Kindle came in. I had to replace mine a few months ago. Be well!
That’s the plan and I’m ok with it. I just wish I felt more energetic. At least the weather is really nice.
It seems like we are all having similar type of weeks right now. I’m sorry about your Kindle, but I hope the new one works well. I like the looks of all your books. I’ve been wanting to start the Victoria Thompson series for awhile. It looks good. Have a great week and stay safe!
I totally loved the Gaslight mysteries. I’m all up to date now including having read the ARC for the one releasing in April! So 23 books. Thank you!
I’m drooling over you ARCs. Lucky! And I think I may beat you on the freebies this week, lol. I might have to consider doing Thrifty Thursday weekly instead of monthly,
Stay safe, and happy reading!
I get most but not all the ARCs I want. I’m pretty consistent with reviewing and up to date so I think that helps me get approved. Edelweiss hates me. But Netgalley and audio publishers are good to me.
Your Thrifty Thursday link was in there like 8 times, you just didn’t select an image for it. After entering the link, yuo have to go to the next screen and there are 3 choices for where the image is grabbed. So yours is on there. You can always link up more to the monthly one. I’d do Thrifty Thursday more often but I have many review ARCs right now. Thanks so much for participating!
Have a healthy week! There’s an explosion of freebies available right now.
Ugh, I feel your pain about the Kindle! my Kindle Fire is really picky about charging and I have to position it with the cable in a very precise manner for it to charge. I know that I need to get a new one {mine is almost 3 years old I think}, but it hasn’t been a high priority lately. That may have to change soon. I’ve also had issues with my phone and phone chargers so I need to have at least one of them working!
Congratulations on finishing projects! I’ve started a couple of projects, but not finished anything. I’m hoping once I get a routine in place for however long this whole thing lasts, I’ll be good to go.
I’d be in a lot worse shape without a phone than a Kindle but I want both. My Kindle did that not always charging thing for awhile and then wouldn’t charge at all. It felt good to get a few things finished; I hope I can get myself to do more this week.
Sounds like you got a lot accomplished. Glad to hear you were able to get all the items you wanted. I can read on my phone, but I don’t like the glare after a while. At least you have your Kindle back now. 🙂
Sadly it doesn’t feel like I am accomplishing much. Part of it is with my daughter sleeping in later til mid afternoon, I wait for her to fix meals and when she doesn’t get up I don’t fix meals. I just am hungry, waiting rather than doing my plan and maybe eating junk. I think I just have to fix my meals at the time and she can eat leftovers later if she doesn’t get up for it. I am so glad to have a working Kindle again.
I am so happy that you were able to get your new Kindle so quickly. It sounds like you are pretty well stocked which is wonderful. I was worried that I would be able to find the gluten free items that I usually buy but I was able to get them. I hope you aren’t getting sick. Of course, I think everyone is a bit out of sorts right now. I am definitely interested in Katherine Center’s book. I have a widget so I will just wait until I am ready to read it to download it. Enjoy your new books and have a great week!
I was also worried about the GF stuff but a lot of what we buy is fresh stuff and it’s not as popular as I would expect. We normally keep a fair supply. I got my delivery from Aldi’s yesterday and was able to get things I wanted including GF items. We are healthy altho sleeping more than usual or more at odd times. We haven’t left the house for 10 days now, at all.
(a few of your comments like this one went to spam and I just resurrected them last night)
I was super lazy last week. I mostly just slept and read. I did go to the grocery store. It was packed with people, but a lot of the shelves were empty. I hope you have a good week!
I’m thinking lazy is good. At least for spring break week. It’s now been a full week since we were out for anything. I’ll need to make a pharmacy drive thru run this week and I’m having grocery delivery on Wed afternoon.
I hope you guys stay safe and these are definitely trying to times. Me and Mr. Barb are self isolating as much as we can but my work hasn’t said we can work from home yet and he works in a prison so he kind of has to be there. I worry about him more than me because there’s only one other person in my office and even though she’d dumb, I can pretty much avoid her or at least social distance myself.
I’m glad you got a new Kindle. I’d be lost without mine. Wonder if you just got a lemon? Do they have Kindle lemons? Hope you have a great week!
We are doing very well with isolation. Of course, it was spring break. I may have to go out to the pharmacy drive thru this week. But we are having groceries delivered on Wednesday.
I am happy to have a Kindle again. I’m not sure it was a lemon but I think the problem was the micro USB connection plug. Perhaps they had a few less sturdy ones for awhile. I don’t mean the cables I had new ones and even the old ones worked with other devices. I mean the plugin port on the Kindle itself.
I was just about to tell you that you should be able to read eARCs on your Kindle app on your phone when you said that you found it. LOL! I’ll bet in the past you somehow didn’t have the settings so you could see “docs”.
yes, I’m not sure why it was different because I could swear in the past I wasn’t able to see them on my phone but it was a good thing for last week.
(this comment went to spam and I just resurrected it last night)
Paper Fools is good. I read that a while ago. That is a great series, I wish she would continue it.
I am just trying to figure out what I need to do next. I work better with a schedule and it keeps changing.
Have a great week, Anne! Take care and Stay Safe!
I work better with a schedule too but right now I seem to be too moody to stick to a plan.
Yikes – get that kindle replaced quickly, eh? I have a list of the Amazon First Reads freebies on my kindle that I haven’t read yet. Review books always come first 🙂 Take care of you and yours!
I got the new Kindle Friday night. I also read ARCs first instead of library books or freebies .
I’m glad your new Kindle arrived. Isn’t the worst thing when your Kindle doesn’t work right. I had that with my previous one.. so frustrating.
Stay save and healthy.
Have a great week and happy reading.
Yes I am enjoying my new one.
Oh gosh, yes definitely the worst time to have your kindle die. Glad you were able to get a replacement. I’m so excited to get to that new Katherine Center book. Hopefully we’ll both love it!
I’m running the new Kindle day and night now. I’m glad to have one working. And glad to get it since someone told me Amazon isn’t shipping anything but “priority” stuff until April 21? Anyway, I’m also glad to have so many great options to read.
I swear that a restless lethargy is overtaking the world at the moment! So many people commenting on it… I blame world events that are constantly lurking in the back of our heads even when we’re not consciously thinking about it. 🙁
It also sucks about your kindle! Glad you managed to get a new one. Amazon is being slow on a lot of items right now.
Hope the week is treating you well, Anne!
I was trying to figure it out and I think the lethargy is because at first I didn’t set my alarm and I just slept until I woke up. But I think I will do better if I keep my bedtime and getting up at routine times and follow a bit more of a schedule. So I’m going to do that now. Everyone is a little off routine and that probably is part of the feeling, along with the underlying sense of anxiety.
I think I was lucky to get my Kindle right before the heavy rush.
Definitely weird times. Hope this week is more productive for you and happy reading.
It seems to be baby steps to get anything accomplished. I’m feeling less lethargic since I decided to get up and go to bed at close to the same time daily.
Yeah, I find either doing your usual schedule or creating a new schedule for this life is helpful.
