Most kids at the Colorado branch of Mythos Academy know me as Rory Forseti, the daughter of Reaper assassins. Secretly, I'm a member of Team Midgard, a group of students and adults tasked with stopping Covington, the evil leader of the Reapers of Chaos. For me, the mission is a deeply personal one, since Covington is also the man who murdered my parents.
When my friends and I get a lead on a powerful artifact that Covington wants to steal, we think we finally have a chance to thwart the Reapers and stop them for good. Team Midgard comes up with a plan, but everything goes sideways, and I'm suddenly in the fight of my life.
My worst fears might have come true, but I know what my Spartan destiny is—to save my friends, or die trying . . .
I was happy to continue with the Mythos Academy Colorado series, which follows (and is a spoiler for) the related Mythos Academy series. Spartan Destiny is the final book in this trilogy.
Rory provides the point of view for our story as she does for the rest of the series. Rory is a great character with plenty of heart. She is brave without being totally stupid. She takes a minutes to use her head and make the most workable strategy considering all facotrs. She is willing to risk herself for others.
Every time the Midgard fights the Reapers it seems to go the same. Typically, the plan falls apart and the Reapers get the artifact they want. Again, this happens and then things go from bad to worse. I won’t spoil the story but it takes all Rory has to fight back. It’s a fitting end to the series.
Narration:
I have enjoyed Amanda Dolan as the narrator for this series. She is Rory in my head She handles the male and female voices comfortably and I’m able to listen at my usual 1.5x speed.

glad it entertained you til the end
This was started in a similar fashion to the first two but then twisted into something different. It was a good ending.
Glad to hear Rory wasn’t reckless. Sometimes “brave” borders on reckless, annoying decisions. I’ll have to keep this series in mind. Still haven’t tried Estep’s books yet.
These are YA so they don’t seem quite as realistic as her more adult series. This was a fun series for me anyway. I like and recommend the Crown of Shards as adult fantasy. And I like her Elemental Assassin UF series altho I am only halfway along in it.
I really want to get back to Estep’s Mythos Academy series and then move on to this one. I am glad the series ended well for you.
I liked this series. It’s much more simplistic than the Crown of Shards for example. I prefer the older and grittier but this was a fun change.
I haven’t read any of Estep’s books but have a couple on my TBR pile. I’m glad this was entertaining and you enjoyed it.
I like her books but the UF series a little better as they are more complex. This was a fun listen though. I love the covers on this series, too.
