The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly  @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.

Stacking The Shelves is also a weekly meme hosted by  Tynga’s Reviews and Marlene from Reading Reality.  It’s all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.

Sunday I was up blog visiting and then made pancakes and bacon for brunch.  I finally got some time in on the baby boy quilt and it is taking shape.   Monday, I got a delivery.  My romaine lettuce is all ready so I gave a head to each neighbor and one to the Instacart shopper and have been eating some myself, of course.   Oh  it was so yummy   Also delicious is another batch of homemade ice cream I made. I divided it in half so I could make caramel and fresh raspberry.

Tuesday, I cleared the tables of flannel sort project so I could have space to put together the layers of the quilt. I went on to quilting it over the next couple days.  Thursday, my new steam iron (I ordered it for my birthday since the old one is probably 40 years old) arrived.

Wednesday, my daughter took her last final so she’s done!  She starts summer school Monday but just one class in Art Appreciation online. Thursday, we got a used book for $50  when it would have been $166 from the bookstore.  I stopped into both Lowes and Home Depot but nobody had broccoli plants.  We picked up our stuff at the pharmacy drive thru and Lulu had her checkup.  She got all her shots updated.  She’s in great shape except she’s gained 6 pounds and needs to go on a diet!  Yeah, we’ve been feeding her too many treats.

I did a good job with blog prep and reading this week, so I’m not reading the day before the review.  I’m buddy reading with Stephanie starting Saturday for COYER.  While listening, I finished the hand stitching of the binding so the baby boy quilt is complete.  I also did some challenge updating so I don’t have to do it all at the end of the month.

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.  These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):

Thanks so much to Tantor Audio. InkSlingerPR.

I’ve been eyeing this $0.99 deal at Chirp all month because I love Gabra Zackman.

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT  they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

If you like this and want to see me do the Sunday post, as often as I can manage, leave me a comment and let me know.

Anne

  1. Sounds like a really productive week. Nice deal on the used book. It’s crazy how expensive text books are! Hopefully you can find the broccoli plants soon. I love fresh broccoli. Hooray for being caught up on blog posts and review books… that’s always such a feeling of accomplishment. 🙂

  2. Great that you were able to give some romaine away. Maybe you can pass some imaginary my way. A friend recently gave me some tea and a copy of ‘Burial Rights’. I also got a few books from friends of the library mail boxes. Like a Sarah Dessen book. So thrilled!

  3. Pancakes and bacon sound so good and so does the icecream. The quilt looks nice! Enjoy your week ahead and your books.

  4. Your quilt work looks cute and yay for having a productive week even if the broccoli was elusive. Nicely done getting caught up a bit on your reading and blog set up. I think I broke even this week which I’ll take. 🙂

    Have a great week, Anne!

    • Isn’t it insane how much you have to pay for text books?! I used to use the library for them a lot because I couldn’t afford the books. Congrats on the find!

You’re quilt looks so nice. I know it’s going to be loved ❤️. I really hope to get a small veggie garden going on our balcony this year. When do you plant? I need to figure this out – I want jalepanos, tomatoes, cilantro, and maybe onion?

Hope you have a great week ahead!

      • Thank you! My daughter is the genius who found the used book. She told me there is a forum or some sort. I think you could already have planted as you are south of me. NC has two crop seasons because it is warm so long. You can start cool crops like lettuce, chard, spinach, broccoli, snow peas and such as early as late Feb. By mid April, you can plant herbs, tomatoes, peppers, etc. I just googled the NC state ag or something. I knew the MN dates but have been learning the NC ones. I try to plant things which are more break even. Some things are cheaper to buy at the farmer’s market. Some things like zucchini are endless and take up lots of space so even though I like them, I don’t grow them.

  6. Your quilt looks wonderful. Sounds like you had a nice week. I remember those days of over treating my pup too and then realizing she’s overweight. We’d then have to do extra walks and exercise to get her back down. ^_^
Have a wonderful week and happy reading!

  7. Such a pretty quilt, Anne! I am glad that your daughter finished her finals and has a week off before summer classes begin. Nice find on the textbook! My daughter’s school includes books in the tuition but I do remember how expensive books can be. It sounds like you had a good week! I hope you have a nice week this week!

  8. I am curious about Tuesday’s Child…and the idea of pancakes and bacon has me drooling here.

Enjoy your week, and thanks for visiting my blog. Stay safe and well.

  9. It sounds like you’ve had a great week. Great job on the blog prep and reading this week. I’ve been trying to get ahead on the blog prep too. So far it’s been going a little better, but not as good as I’d hope.
    Stay safe and happy reading.

  10. I don’t know anyone who packs more into a single week than you do, Anne:)). I love that beautiful quilt, what a wonderful talent you have for making lovely things… I hope you have a peaceful, happy week, with plenty of good books.

  11. How exciting to have fresh lettuce from your garden! My tomatoes are turning red and the zucchini is getting bigger. So I’m thrilled!

I need to catch up with my review books, but that’s an ongoing process. Glad to hear you’ve made some headway! Wow, I’m now wondering what book you bought for $50 at a discount. Good price if it usually goes for $166!

    • The chard is ready too and I’m planning to make a dish today with it but it’s a Julia Child one which is lots of work so I only make it once or twice a year. It will be awhile before I have tomatoes. I didn’t plant zucchini because they tend to grow too well. lol

The book was one for Art Appreciation and all the college books tend to be over $100. It was cheaper at Amazon than the college book store but I was afraid they wouldn’t ship on a timely basis and her class starts today.

  12. Jen

Sounds like a good week – I love he quilt, so cute! Glad you accomplished so much this past week! I did get some annuals and planted those/weeded yesterday. Now I just need to spread the mulch, which I’ll do later this week.

  13. Glad to hear you guys are doing fine. Also congrats to your daughter to finishing her semester. This whole college process has been so effected by COVID-19. I bet it’s not an easy transition. I love the idea of homemade ice cream and I remember being a young kid and my Gpa making it in one of the old fashioned ice cream makers beneath a big tree in his front yard. Such good memories!

  14. So thoughtful of you to share your lettuce. I really want to give each of our Instacart shoppers a gift in addition to the tip. I’m just so grateful and don’t even have the words. Also, your quilt is beautiful!
