The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.
Stacking The Shelves is also a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Marlene from Reading Reality. It’s all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!
Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.
Sunday was a frustrating day. I finally sat down to the computer to do my blog visiting and it was slow. The computer said it needed to restart to load some updates. So I let it restart. I sat there reading because I thought it would only be 10-30 minutes. But after an hour it was only 20%!!! Overall it ended up taking over 4 hours. I finished the book I started reading. If I had known I could have listen to an audio and worked on the quilting. But I do like to watch the computer in case it needs input or something. So my visiting and blog work are way behind.
I wanted to do some more yard work with this beautiful weather over the long weekend but on Monday I ended up reviewing the list of home repair / fixup projects. My daughter wants a jewelry storage to hang the storage containers she has. It would look like a goal post or quilt rack with 2 sides and a bar on which she would hang the storage hangers. I didn’t think that would look as great so I started looking on marketplace for an armoire / wardrobe the right size we could use or build a rack inside.
Tuesday, I met up with a lady to get a mirror I found on facebook for our guest bedroom. We both wore masks, of course. I also hit the jackpot on audio ARCs for review. I had numerous tasks but it didn’t feel like I accomplished much. Finally on Wednesday, I buckled down and did my blog visiting, and set up some post shells. I also did lots of laundry. Awhile ago, I researched cloud backup software. I finally made a decision and bought one IDRIVE.
Thursday, I did a big Walmart pickup. Then I went back to catching up online. I set my IDrive to do a complete backup overnight and it did, taking about 11 hours. It was scheduled to do the next one at 12:30am on Saturday which didn’t go so I’ll have to see what the deal is with the scheduled ones.
This week I have continued to move all my blog visiting to Feedly. I feel a bit bad about this because then I am not subscribed in the same way but I AM reading and visiting. I’m sorry I sometimes don’t have anything to say, so I try to at least retweet or comment or something. Feedly is really working well for me to keep the inbox cleaner and actually visit more blogs.
Friday I was doing my various tasks. It was raining a lot, so nothing outside. For some reason, we had flies in the kitchen. I killed 5 and couldn’t get the last one. That’s more than we have had the rest of the summer put together. I looked at more armoire/wardrobes. Most things, by the time I got information or my daughter looked at them, they were sold. We went to see one which was still available. She decided it would work but then we found out the listing which said 2 armoires $200, meant $200 EACH and we weren’t willing to pay that much for one we didn’t like really well. She looked on her phone and found a new listing with one for $25 and messaged them to see if we could come look at it. We did and we bought it! Unfortunately, it was 2″ too wide to go in the back of my car so I have to set up a Uhaul to go get it on Sunday. I’m excited to have one which will work she really likes though.
Saturday was nice. It felt cool even though it was humid. I was able to kill the last fly before breakfast. This week I’ve also been getting back to my exercise / strength routine I did before working weird hours and then moving. I’ll have to build up my repetitions which I had to do when I started years, but at least I am doing something. I tried to get my daughter to go for a walk with me before dinner. She didn’t feel like going so I mowed the lawn instead.
Things I Learned This Week:
OK if I’m asking for help, I’m also going to share the cool things I learn. You may already know them but hopefully it will help someone.
Awhile ago, I researched cloud backup software. I finally made a decision and bought one IDRIVE. Here is an article comparing different options which I found very helpful. They had a deal – $13.90 for 5 TB for the first year. The initial backup took about 11 hours ( 335GB) but after that it only updates modified files so it should run faster.
Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality. These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):
Thanks so very much to Harper Audio, Penguin Audio, St. Martin’s Press, Berkley Romance!
(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)
NOTHING.
Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.
I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.
I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.
I’m always so happy to hear from you. I hope you are safe and well. Things are always changing and the current situation is not forever.

We chose some of the same ARCs and freebies this week! I also got When No One is Watching and Claimed in Shadows, which I was surprised to see free. I hope you enjoy Elisabeth Barrett’s series. I read it years ago and loved it.
Have a wonderful week, Anne?
Yes I have already read the Elisabeth Barrett series years ago but in case I want to read again or my daughter does I went ahead and got the free ones. It was certainly a winning week for ARCs.
Another Busy week! I love the armoire, we have two and I have one more in my basement because it doesn’t fit in the house.
My son always gets mad when there is an update. They always take longer than you expect.
You gots lot of awesome looking books this week,. I hope you enjoy them! 🙂
Have a great week, Anne! Happy Reading! xx
Thanks Michelle! I couldn’t believe that update – it felt like it wasted my whole day. But I’m back getting somewhere. We got the armoire picked up and into the garage. I have no idea how we will get that big heavy thing upstairs to her bedroom.
I didn’t realize people actually used Feedly! I know lots of bloggers who use Bloglovin’, and I use it when a blogger doesn’t have a subscribe by email option. Personally I have never gotten into the habit of using a reader, but maybe one of these days I will. Have a good week, Anne!
I looked over Bloglovin and Feedly and I really prefer the way it handles the “feed”. I don’t know why but cutting all those emails from my inbox really reduces my stress and I actually get to lots more blogs by using Feedly than I did in the past. I have buttons for both on my blog. 🙂
Ugh I hate computer updates that take that long! Yesterday I got a notice that my OS on my mac needed to update. No big deal-its usually 5 minutes. WRONG! It took nearly an hour. The armoire looks great! Have a great week!
Thank you. Yes it really cut into my computer time last Sunday. Today it was going to get the armoire but it is here.
The Claimed in Shadows by Lara Adrian looks great. I thought I get it too, but here in Germany it is not for free with five bucks to pay for. Well, well … It is as always, you are a busy bee *smile* I had that the other week too with an update that took hours before I was able to use my laptop again. That is so annoying! Happy reading and stay safe!
Thank you! There is just always lots to do or read. I hate it when the computer is tied up like that with the update.
You gals keep so busy at your place. It’s great! Yay for scoring a wardrobe at that price. Cheering you on with your strength training. Your iDrive sounds like a good backup pick.
Have a good week, Anne!
Thank you! I made some good progress in spite of feeling like days got ruined by the update. Things are running well now, thank goodness but today was going to pickup the armoire. I’m glad that is accomplished. The IDrive last night only took 2 hours which is much improved.
Another busy week. Glad you are staying occupied. I picked a few of the freebies you did in your book haul. I hope you enjoy all the books you got. Our weather in CA has been apocalyptic due to the fires. We’ve had organs & red skies over cast weather everyday this week and some smoke drifting in now and then in our area. We’re luck not to be in the fire zone, but still this year has been crazy for many things.
Well I have to keep busy to distract from some of the horrible things happening. I’m glad you are safe where you are.
It looks like you’ve got some great new books to read. And it sounds like you got another busy week.
Computers can be so horrible.. I mean I love them.. but they can also be super frustrating.
Have a great week and happy reading.
My computer is working great now but I’ve never had an update take so long. And I wanted to get around to Sunday posts! I felt behind for a couple days. But finally I started getting some things accomplished. I did get the best books this week!
Urg! There’s nothing worse than updates that take so ridiculously long…
I love the look of your wardrobe – which is what we’d call your armoire – it looks really sturdy and well made. The pic of Lulu is really cute – what an old fashioned look! I hope you have a great week, Anne:)
Thank you! We are very excited about the armoire project. We hope to put stacked rods for hanging her jewelry pouches. I’ll have to include some photos as we progress. It is very heavy.
Enjoy your books, they all look good especially When No One Is Watching.. Ugh computer updates just annoy me more than not lol, I actually walked into Walmart this weekend for the first time in over 7 months because I wanted new bed sheets and they were not available for pickup or delivery. We went in late at night just before closing to avoid people.
It’s good to exercise, I do yoga regularly. Happy week ahead!
Thank you. The Alyssa Cole book is creepy and dark. Some things are unexpected and that is not bad. I try hard to only do delivery or pickup. I’ve had to go into Harris Teeter a couple times for a prescription. I hope I get on track with the exercise routine. Right now it makes my stomach hurt.
Good for you killing that last fly LOL they are evasive creatures to drive us humans insane.
Those updates are the worst especially when it takes so long, which is why I do them at night now, because I hate having to wait hours.
I adore Feedly! It makes visiting blogs so easy for me. Glad you are liking it as well.
There’s been a new fly both yesterday and today which I have killed. UGH. I don’t want them landing on our stuff. I see how they are drawn to land on dog poop! I always feel I should watch the update so I know what happens. I’ve never had one go that long before. Yes, Feedly is making it much easier for me.
Nice that you had some rain. I wish it would rain here and put the fires out! I like the armoire. Perfect place for storage.
I might pick up a copy of All Colors of Night. We’ll see.
I don’t mind rain and it certainly helps the plants and makes me have to water less. What I hate is a prediction for rain and then no rain because I could have done some out door things. That’s what happened today. I was excited we got an armoire that is exactly what we needed for such a good price. The Uhaul was more than twice as much as the furniture itself.
mr wonderful was on vacation last week, so i am trying to catch on my blog visiting too. we have a tropical storm moving through so my outdoor work is at a stand still. it does make my decision whether to work in or out and easy one
Yes when it rains all day I know for sure. Today rain was predicted but didn’t happen. I hope you enjoyed your week!
Wow, 4 hours for updates is crazy. Hopefully you’ll be good for a while now. What a deal on the armoire! It pays to wait and find just the right thing. I’ve been seeing a lot of advance buzz for When No One Is Watching and I’m curious about it.
You would think so! I’ve never had an update run so long. Then it did another short one maybe 10 minutes on Thursday. The computer is running very well this week. I’ll have a review on When No One is Watching later this week. It’s creepy and dark and unexpected.
I love the look of the armoire. I am a fan of free standing furniture pieces.
Enjoy your week and your books. I love the look of When No One Is Watching. Thanks for sharing, and for visiting my blog.
I’m almost finished with When No One is Watching and it seriously creepy and evil (people).
A Deadly Education has got my attention. So curious about it. Happy reading.
I have enjoyed everything I have read by Novik so I figured I would try this one too.
What a great deal! It really pays to look around and be patient huh? Lulu is so cute. I love seeing her. I’ve been hit or miss around the blogs. We found a lump on Apollo and he sees the vet Thursday so that’s been kind of on my mind – who am I kidding, it’s killing me waiting. He seems fine and he’s young so we’re thinking positive. I just grabbed When No One is Watching from OD. Can’t wait to dive in. Hope you and your daughter have a great week – and aren’t houseflies annoying!!!!
You’ll love When No One is Watching as it is creeping me out and it’s got horrible people. Lulu just had her nail trim torture tonight. There’s been one fly every day UGH. I didn’t get the one today yet. I hate them. I hope things go well with Apollo. Our old girl Gina had a lump but it was just fat.
Love the new armoire—looks like the perfect solution to your daughter’s storage problem. And even with the UHaul fee, it’s still a great deal!
Exactly! I was so happy she found it.
