The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.
Stacking The Shelves is also a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Marlene from Reading Reality. It’s all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!
Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.
Today is the last day for two giveaways! Last Sunday was filled up with going to get the armoire. I was glad to have good weather and not too hot. Luckily, the seller’s husband and neighbor loaded into into our Uhaul and we didn’t struggle too much getting it unloaded, as it is one big heavy piece. The upcoming week looks delightful with less rain and more 70s than 80s.
Sunday morning, I got the idea to go to the North Carolina website because I know they started mailing ballots Sept 4 and we didn’t have ours yet. the last time I looked the Ballotrax portal wasn’t functional yet. But now it was and I could see our ballots were mailed Sept 11, and they track all the stages so you know if they got it and if there were any issues. So we should be able to vote next week!
Sunday, my daughter got a perfect score on her Music quiz. Monday, she had her first Sociology test. She got 93 out of 100. Her new gastro medication seems to be starting to work for her. This next Sunday, she has her first Music exam. She likes the online classes better than she expected.
Monday was supposed to have some rain but it didn’t rain. I got caught up in reading for the Read-along. Tuesday I decided I had to get things done. I did a bunch of household chores. The weather was gorgeous and I walked with Lulu over to a neighbor’s to drop off her Doterra order. I’ve never sold to anyone else but there are a few people in this neighborhood who order from me now. Anyway Lulu and I had a nice 2 mile walk around the hood. After a short break, I went out to finish some mowing and weeding. I cooked us a nice dinner, then we did the Lulu nail trim torture.
Wednesday, I got a Food Lion Instacart and stupidly forgot to get milk which is why I was doing an Instacart. So then I had to do a Publix Instacart to get it, but then I also was able to get some things which weren’t available at other places. I really should have done yard work since it is going to rain the next 2 days but I wrote some reviews, and did some warranty registrations. I also checked out Audible and Chirp deals. We got dinner delivery from the neighborhood personal chef. He does daily specials every week. It is a little tough to get gluten free ones that have only ingredients both my daughter and I will eat. I wasn’t sure she would eat this but she liked it – Chicken Enchiladas with Red Sauce, Black beans and rice. We’re getting another one Friday – is Singapore Noodles with Shrimp & Veggies.
Thursday we had our day of rain. I’ve done a lot of reading and some blog ahead type stuff this week. Friday, though, I went out to the nursery and got the broccoli and lettuce plants. I got a new chive plant because the mint killed the old chive plant. No you can’t kill chives by freezing weather but mint is so invasive. Saturday, I read all of Shadows in Death by JD Robb which had just come in on my library reserve. Then I did plant all the lettuce, half the broccoli and the chives. I replanted the mint in a pot, since my daughter wanted it but I don’t care if it dies. I’ll plant the rest of the broccoli and spinach once we get the garden bed expansion built. Finally, we got our ballots in the mail Saturday, 8 days after they mailed them. We will vote on Sunday and then deliver them to the Board of Elections office next week.
Don’t forget Thrifty Thursday is this week!
Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality. These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):
So many thanks to AceRoc, Red Adept Publishing, and Penguin Audio,
(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)
I bought a couple titles at the Audible $5 sale.
I got these 3 deals on Chirp for $5, $4 and $4.
Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.
I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.
I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.
Thank you so much for visiting! I appreciate it and your comments so much.

Congrats to the 93 out of 100! That is great. You are moving around furniture, I am moving around plants *smile* We have beautiful sunny weather here and warm. Golden September but the wet fall is coming for sure. Have a great Sunday and happy reading!
Thanks Vi! I did plant the lettuce and broccoli last night though. The weather is near perfect right now so I want to get out in the yard more. But we will see how it goes.
Another week of non-stop activity, Anne! Yes… mint is a beast, isn’t it? Chives are funny things to grow, though. They all died off in my beds, but I have several thriving plants growing up in the cracks between the paving stones in my path – so I let them grow there and they survive very happily! Have a great week:)).
Thank you. No rest for the wicked as they say and I’ve got so much I want to do! Nothing would kill out chives year round in Minnesota where it got way below freezing. I hope they do as well here.
Your weather sounds lovely! Ours is finally dipping into the 80s which is much more tolerable. I’ve always wanted to read Radiance by Grace Draven ? Hope you have a good week!
Thank you. Oh I love this new weather pattern. North winds, right around 70, we are going to get to 50 the next 2 nights. That’s great sleeping weather. I had to wear a jacket when I went out to plant the veggies after dinner. And I can listen to my audiobooks while I work in the yard / garden. I have been wanting to read more of Draven and fantasy often works better for me in audio. Maybe it’s because I don’t have to spend as much time figuring out the pronunciations of the names?
Hooray for the lower temps. It felt delicious outside here this morning. Sixty-six degrees and misty/rainy. It’s been so hot for so long that 66 felt like winter. LOL It’s supposed to stay in the low 80’s all week and I can be happy with that. Better than 95! 🙂 Glad you got the armoire home okay and nice that you had help. Those dinner deliveries sound deelish!
Thanks yes I love the new weather, we will be in the 70s this week which is perfect. I like the option of having not only someone else cook but a variety of things I might not cook. And they deliver to our door as they live in the neighborhood. This week we are getting a chicken fried rice with peppers, carrots, bean sprouts, eggs, and a teriyaki salmon with sweet potato hash. I’d just bake the sweet potato and eat it. So it gives us some variety when we are home all the time.
Lower temps are good. It got real hot yesterday and it surprised the heck out of me. I like the fall real well.
Fall weather is the best to me. Although this spring was gorgeous for such a long time. But fall is a little cooler and sometimes less rainy so it feels great.
Congrats to your daughter for her rockin’ test scores!! I’m very happy for her.
We got our ballots yesterday! We will be mailing tomorrow. I’m sure yours should arrive shortly.
Here’s hoping you enjoy those book acquisitions! Didn’t realize you were an Agatha Christie fan. Have a great week, Anne?
Yes we finally got our ballots yesterday. I think I will take them to the office though. Yes I’ve read all the Christie books, own a bunch of them, have seen some of the PBS series. Now I’m trying some on audio.
Thanks – she really does a great job with her school work.
Wow congrats to your daughter on her excellent scores! And yay for getting your ballots. I need to complete the paperwork for mine or else I’m gonna have to stand in line on election day (which would be awful).
Thanks! Yes I am glad to have them AND that there is a way to see online they’ve been accepted too.
Sounds like your daughter is doing great with school! And I’m glad her medicine seems to be working.
Yay for your ballots! I can’t vote by mail, but I got my updated voter registration card (I had forgotten to update with our move in April across the parking lot ?) and I’m ready to early vote. There’s even slight chance TX could go blue, which is so exciting. Makes me that much more determined to vote.
Have a great week!
Well NC is a swing state which I hope will go blue. We will see. I am happy the ballots are finally here and we can get that done. My daughter is doing great but still has a crazy schedule.
Nice book haul! Thats great you got outside. Last week we where stuck indoors because of all the smoke in CA, but this weekend has been fabulous. Our air quality is back down to good and I’ve made sure to be outdoors all weekend. It’s helped revitalize me. Have a great week.
The weather is nearly perfect now. It gets cool enough at night to need blankets on the bed too. Thanks I love my book haul, every time.
Whew, the wardrobe sounds like a bear to move so glad you got it moved in all right. LOL, I’ve forgotten the biggest priority on my grocery list so many times. Glad it worked out since you needed other items at the other store. Yay for your ballots arriving. The fall garden is sounding good. Woohoo for your daughters great first grade scores and glad your neighborhood chef foods are turning out delicious.
I grabbed both those Agatha Christies, too.
Have a good week, Anne!
Thanks Sophia. We are doing things. I’m gearing up for a bunch of projects coming up. My daughter is doing well.
It’s much harder to shop with delivery since each order has a minimum and so one can’t really do too many orders a week. But when we need certain things for gluten free or our preferences, so many things are only at one store. We regularly shop at BJs, Sam’s Club, Aldi, and sometimes Food Lion, Lowes or Publix, and also do Walmart pickup. It’s a little crazy trying to figure it out. I used to be able to stop 3-4 places on a shopping trip and it wasn’t such a big deal. So that’s one reason I decided to try the neighborhood chef and also we aren’t going out to restaurants either.
I love Agatha Christie. I’ve read everything, seen some on PBS and now I’m trying audio.
Have an awesome week!
The Thursday Murder Club is calling out to me. Happy reading and gardening.
Thank you! It’s even British so audio was am obvious choice!
I see you got Radiance and man that book is SO SO good! I loved it so much.
Hope voting by mail goes smoothly for you and your state. *crossing fingers*
I love doterra products! They are fabulous.
I’m glad to know your thoughts. I have wanted to read it for a long time.
Sounds like a pretty good week – and congrats to your girl for doing so well in school. I’m listening to Battle Ground now – lots of battles! lol
Thank you ! Battle Ground is up next for me. I wanted to listen the moment I got it but this month I got a lot of audios to review.
Congrats to your daughter on her great scores!
A neighbourhood personal chef? Is that a catering company or just a person in the neighbourhood who offers the service? I’m intrigued.
I loved The Thursday Murder Club p, I hope you enjoy it too.
Wishing you a great reading week
Thank you. I think he does both catering and personal meals. During COVID they have been doing these meals for the neighborhood. They did some free ones early on, but I never took those. There are people with greater need than me.
I’m glad your daughter did well on her quizzes! I don’t think my state has started mailing ballots yet, but I’m eagerly awaiting mine. Have a great week!
Thanks. Our state is early. I took them to the Board of Elections yesterday so we are all set.
That’s good about the mail in voting! And wonderful about the good grades!
The weather has been nice here too with Fall on the way. Enjoy your books this week, I used to read alot of J.D Robb too.
Thank you! The weather was gorgeous again today.
Nice that you got a 2 mile hike with Lulu! Poor doggie with the toe clipping.
I need to weed out my mint and get my garden back in shape. I hadn’t been doing anything since the triple digit weather was frying the heck out of all my plants I just got discouraged. That and the smoke which is finally clearing up a bit. Although, I did hear the fire out in the mountains by us has started up again. *sigh*
The Thursday Murder Club looks interesting.
I put the mint in a pot. The weather is just great right now. I planted some more flowers today in the strip along the back of the house.
I wanted to do some Fall crops but I’m tired of gardening this year – mainly because I still signed up for more than I could, not because I don’t want to. I’ll hopefully plan better next year and spread out crops better as well. So good to hear that you daughter is enjoying the online classes better!
I’m excited about the fall crop and getting a few more flowers planted. The weather is near perfect which makes it easier to be out doing it.
Sounds like a good week, overall! I’m glad your daughter is enjoying her online classes and doing well in them. And impressed, as always, with your gardening. I bought a mint plant from Walmart, but it never thrived, and seemed to have some sort of blight or bug that killed off its leaves, one by one. I finally gave up and put the poor thing out of its misery. Thank goodness I hadn’t planted it outdoors.
Thanks. My grandma was a first class gardener. She did canning and was a great cook. She also taught me to knit, crochet and tat. She did some quilting too. She had a treadle sewing machine but she did her quilting by hand.
It was a reasonably good week and I’m trying to progress more this week.
Congrats to your daughter on doing so well on her assignments. That’s great that she’s enjoying the online classes too. I think my son is enjoying his more than he expected to as well. Yay for cooler weather. It’s starting to feel like fall here too and I’m so ready for it. 🙂
Thank you! As far as I am concerned the weather is perfect now. It makes it easier to get out in the yard.
Love catching up with you, Anne. My ballot just arrived today and I cannot wait to cast it. I’m so sorry to hear about the mint. What a pain for it to have gotten everywhere and I meant to comment on that the last time you mentioned it. I think lavender does the same? I hope you have good luck with all your new veggies and herbs. Yum!
Thank you. The weather’s perfect so it’s great doing the yard stuff, more to come this week, and next. I took our ballots to the Board of Elections office to turn them in on Tuesdsay. So we have voted.
Congrats to your daughter for a great start to her school year. My daughter in in university online and she’s not crazy about it. She is a people person and misses the human interaction of school. Enjoy your new books!
Thanks. I’m sure my daughter would like more contact to develop more friends but she appreciates the flexibility to do things on her own schedule, especially if she doesn’t feel well. So I knew she would do fine if she tried it. So that’s the one good thing from COVID. I wouldn’t expect her to take all online if things were more open but she still might take some so she can spend less time on campus.
You got some pretty looking new books.
Your daughter is doing so well I see. Love that!
Have a great week and happy reading.
Thank you! I am thrilled with my daughter’s adapting to school well and my new books.
Wow, you have had a busy week, that’s great news that your daughter is doing well!
Enjoy you new books, I love At Bertram’s Hotel, it is one of my favourite Agatha Christie books.
Thanks I love all the Agatha Christie books. Miss Marple ones are especially favorites. Last week I was a slug compared to the blur this week.
Glad you got the armoire, and I’m especially glad that you got your ballots!!
The armoire is gorgeous and was a real deal. I should have pictures in a week or so about how it turns out.
