The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly  @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.

Stacking The Shelves is also a weekly meme hosted by  Tynga’s Reviews and Marlene from Reading Reality.  It’s all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.

Sunday was a good day of blog visiting and COYER book club planning for 2021.   I worked on my Top 10 posts for next week.  I made sure before the COYER meeting I got outside because it was a gorgeous 68F (20C) and I used the leafeater to get up all the loose leaves in the backyard. It also makes it much easier to find poop.  I also started putting my Audible library into collections, mostly by genre.   I made some recommendations on the COYER book club events.

Monday, I did some classifying of things on my Goodreads shelves.  It was cold and rainy all morning so it was a challenge to get Lulu to stay outside long enough to go. I figured out two more walking routes in our neighborhood.  I made another batch of her food.  We got Soy-garlicky chicken bowl with veggies over rice vermicilli from the neighborhood chef. My daughter took her first final today. She thought it was hard.

Tuesday, I had a long phone call with my brother about the options for Mom.   We narrowed things down and divided out our remaining information calls. I updated our shared Google sheet with all the info. Wednesday is a quarterly call with her current care team to report on her status.  I put dinner in the oven and took Lulu out for a walk.  I stayed up too late reading a book.

Wednesday, I got an Instacart from Food Lion.  It rained all day so it was challenging to get Lulu to go out. I made my daughter’s favorite Chicken Pot Pie and she had her last final. My brother fell asleep so we missed the quarterly care call for Mom.  Between not having enough sleep, the rain, waiting around for the call,  I felt unproductive and stressed. Oh and my computer had a bunch of Google Not Responding where I had to wait as long as 15 minutes for the screen to be available.  I did some scans and a reboot and it was all set.

Thursday was a better day with sunshine and getting to work on things.   I did sleep later to catch up and so did my daughter.   I wrote some reviews.  Lulu and I took a late afternoon walk on a longer route.  I made another batch of Lulu food while we made homemade pizzas for dinner.   I used ground chicken, brown rice, spinach and carrots.  I put in one sliced mushroom left over from my pizza.  Well those dastardly mushrooms were still in the bowl after she ate all her food, including every speck of rice.  I did see her eat one of them later but most were there the next morning!  I shopped the Audible sale. I had to ask about my coupon from the Black Friday sale.  I always have to ask; I never get it automatically.

Friday I wanted to do so many things and I still had the main things on my list from the beginning of the week. Sigh. I decided I needed to split my shopping for next week into 2 orders from 2 places to get the things we want.  I would get the specialty gluten free items from Sprouts and the general veggies, milk, etc from Aldi.   So I decided to get the Sprouts order today.  I took Lulu on another walk on the hilliest route.

Saturday I tried to get up early so I could get to tasks on my list all week. I worked all day on post setups including Top 10 and new ARCs. I made chicken noodle soup and mini cheesecakes.  I still have a couple top 10 posts to finish . I’ve been trying all week to work on the Read-along posts and quilting with no success.

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.  These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):

My grateful thanks to Houghton Mifflin Harcourt / Mariner Books, St. Martin’s Press, Berkley Romance,  Tantor Audio,  and Brilliance Audio.

(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)

These were $5 each in the Audible sale and I had a $5 coupon.  I went mystery / thriller all the way.  I had many others on my list but found I could get them at the library or through Kindle Unlimited rather than buying them.

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT  they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

I wish everyone a happy week with peace and joy for whatever holidays you celebrate!

Anne

  1. Glad you were able to contribute to your book club. I’ve done some book clubs in the past, I still hold book club recommendations higher than most others. Mostly I do writers meetings and was so thrilled to catch up with some old groupies on zoom and discuss writing.

  2. oh I hear ya, these top end of year posts keep us gals busy don’t they?? LOL but I do look forward to doing it every year so I am having fun with it while singing along to some Christmas tunes. Happy to see you had a productive week.

Hope you have a wonderful holiday with plenty of cheer for you and your family.

  3. Glad you got arrangements narrowed down on the list for your mom and I think it is so neat that you and your brother are working on it together. Sounds like you got the shopping all planned out well. I’m fortunate to not have any severe food issues so I can shop at one place. Yay for the first final done. Haha, Lulu and those mushrooms. My cats won’t eat the potato chunks in their fresh food even when it’s all mixed in. Glad you got some blogging work done and had a good time shopping the audio sales. I narrow down my purchases the same way- by whether I can borrow it elsewhere.

    Have a good week, Anne!

    • Thank you Sophia! I wish you the very best holiday season! Lulu also doesn’t like fruit or lettuce. She’s pretty picky in some ways. She isn’t sure about salmon or tuna but ended up eating them. Her favorite is definitely chicken. I’ve been enjoying making her food and watching her enjoy eating it. I think the surprise in a way is that my brother and I were able to honestly discuss our thoughts and concerns on Mom and agree on things. In one sense, it is not complex because her insurance pays for her care and it’s a generous amount so we can choose anywhere we like. But we might have very different ideas on what she needs or what places she would do well but thankfully we agree.

  4. I’m sorry to read you felt so tired and stressed on Wednesday. I hate it when a day makes me feel like that.
But it sounds like you still got a lot done in the rest of the week. 😉
I hope this week is better for you.
Have a great one and Merry Christmas!

  5. It’s nice to get outside and enjoy the mild weather. We’re having some nice weather, too. I’m looking forward to the days getting longer soon. I’m looking forward to the Top Ten Posts!

I’m going to check out Holiday Husband. 🙂

  6. Lol… we had a dog with firm views on what he would and wouldn’t eat! Including his tablets to keep his joints from seizing… So I know how well dogs can eat selectively:)). You have clearly been extremely busy – I am intrigued to see the Elly Griffiths arc – I’m working my way through her Ruth Galloway series at the moment. I hope you enjoy it! And like everyone else, I’m keen to see your favourite 2020 posts.

    • I think the top 10 posts are really fun so I hope people link up. I have a couple books to read before that new Ruth Galloway which is a Feb 4th release there and June 29th here. So I have some time but I hope to get through them sooner than June! Lulu does not like fruit, and she wasn’t sure about salmon or tuna but has accepted them. She’s so funny.

  7. I have to ask, how do you remember what you do so well during the week? Do you journal? 🙂 I can’t even remember what I had for dinner yesterday let alone what I did on Monday…lol. Can’t wait to see your favorite! 🙂

    • Organized – yes. Full of energy – not always. I have so many things I want to do but sometimes I just want to stay in bed with the covers over my head all day. Instead, today I got up early and am trying to solve some problems and get a few things done. Thank you Laura.

  8. I love your haul this week, Anne? I really wanted Bone Canyon but I don’t have the first book in that series. Really interested in your thoughts about Sweet Water as it sounds like something I’d enjoy.

Glad you found some great choices in the Audible sale! My $5 coupon burned a hole in my pocket a few weeks ago? Have a wonderful week!

    • Thank you Jonetta! I had got the first one as an Audible daily deal and I listened to it over the weekend in prep and really enjoyed it so now I am excited for Bone Canyon. I’m on a blog tour for Sweet Water so that one is Jan 19th. I’m sure if I had had the coupon, I would have spent it but since I had to prompt them for it I didn’t get it until I asked.

  9. You’ve been really busy, Anne! I hope you get your Top Ten lists done. I always enjoy reading bloggers Top ten lists at the end of the year and hope to do some variant of those, but early in 2021!

I found some books in your post to explore and add to my list. Thanks! Hope you have a good Christmas!

  10. I am eyeing The Night Hawks and The Woman Next Door.

I love Instacart, and count down the days until I can order again! (I try to space the deliveries a little, lol).

Enjoy your week, and thanks for visiting my blog.

  11. Grocery pick-up and delivery has been such a lifesaver this year. Thank goodness for those. I hope the status call regarding your mother can be rescheduled without too much problem. I get so edgy when I *want* to get things accomplished but can’t due to circumstances beyond my control.

  12. I have not even thought about my top ten. I guess it’s time I start! It sounds like you and your brother had a productive meeting about your mom. I hope things work out for the best. Your new books all look really promising. I hope you enjoy your week, Anne. Have a Merry Christmas. Stay safe and healthy.

  13. Iza

You and your brother are very organised, except when he falls asleep ! Your mom must be very well taken care of 🙂 It seems you had a very busy week, so I hope you’ll enjoy peaceful holidays 🙂
