Unswerving: Angus Force is determined to hunt down the serial killer he'd once shot dead--or so he thought. But an anonymous source reports that Lassiter is alive. Force hasn't slept since, knowing it's only a matter of time before "the Surgeon" strikes again. And soon, a body is found, bearing Lassiter's same maniacal MO. It's just the beginning of a murderous trail blazing through DC and Virginia, right to Force's backyard...

Unstoppable: Nari Zhang is the shrink for the ragtag Deep Ops Unit, though she isn't Force's shrink--which is a very good thing. Because once they're thrown together on the case, their attraction is explosive and irresistible. They'll just have to fight that much harder to keep the heat between them from flaming out of control. But things are about to become far more challenging, and deadly, than they could have imagined...

Unhinged: Once the killer catches a glimpse of Nari, she becomes his new obsession. She is now the focus point--for both Force and Lassiter--in a dangerous dance for survival...

I’m enjoying the romantic suspense in the Deep Ops series. There is a new couple in each story. The characters and situation are rather over the top, not quite realistic or believable. Although the humor is a bit ridiculous with quirky characters, the violence is gritty. There’s a dog and a cat on the team.

In Driven, we finally get the story of the leader Angus, and the “shrink” Nari.  It is different from the other books in the series in many ways.  Unlike all but Raider’s story, both of them are part of the team.  It is also after most of the rest of the team is paired off into couples.  While they have the support of the team, they are separated from them for most of the story so we don’t really get the connected feel and updates on the other members.

There was a lot of action and many murders happening.  But the investigation does not seem very smart and successful.  Most of the action for Angus and Nari is avoiding kidnap or assassination attempts.  So while they were working hard, it still seemed reactive more than proactive.  There was less humor, group camaraderie and participation of their pets.

There are many shocking revelations, and frustrating events which really brought new layers to the plot.  I suspect this is the end of the series, since most of them are coupled,  although I would love to see how things go forward with new cases. The author does a good job of bringing out all the details to finish story arcs.

About Rebecca Zanetti

New York Times bestselling author Rebecca Zanetti has worked as an art curator, Senate aide, lawyer, college professor, and a hearing examiner – only to culminate it all in stories about Alpha males and the women who claim them. She is a member of RWA, has won awards for her works throughout the industry, and has a journalism degree with a poly sci emphasis from Pepperdine University as well as a Juris Doctorate from the University of Idaho.

Growing up amid the glorious backdrops and winter wonderlands of the Pacific Northwest has given Rebecca fantastic scenery and adventures to weave into her stories. She resides in the wild north with her husband, children, and extended family who inspire her every day-or at the very least give her plenty of characters to write about.

  1. What a great review you have here. I do enjoy the way this author implements the “details” into her stories. I just started this series, but eager to grab this one up once I catch up to it.

  2. I’ve enjoyed Zanetti in the past so I should look up the series. I do love it when animals are featured in a plot. Glad you were able to suspend disbelief and have some fun with the story. Wonderful review, Anne!
