The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.
Stacking The Shelves is also a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Marlene from Reading Reality. It’s all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!
Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.
Sunday, my daughter never got up yesterday. I was reading late last night which is usual, but the book was so good, then I couldn’t sleep. I was worried about her. I was happy to visit blogs and enjoyed the FB chat. I tried something new for brunch. I made a new pan-cakes in a sheet pan. I put it into two small pans so I could do blueberry for me and chocolate chip for my daughter. (She got up very early since she slept around the clock yesterday).
Monday, I really worked a lot of chores today. It felt good to get to them. It’s a doctor week, one of us have an appointment every day. I had sent information to verify our income for insurance and they wanted more with the deadline tomorrow, so I gathered up more and uploaded it to them I haven’t done my 2020 tax return. The final piece needed just became available this past week.
Tuesday, I woke up after only 4 hours, was up a couple hours, then slept for 3 more for a total of 7 hours. That is how it is going more often than not these days. I did see the healthcare accepted my documents so we have our healthcare this year. My daughter had her visit with our new primary care doctor. It’s the most beautiful day but I’m not having a good pain day.
Wednesday, today was mostly a better day. I got a few chores. The weather was gorgeous. I had my first appt with the new primary care doctor. She said she though my issue was IT band (Iliotibial). Treatment is rest, sleep, massage, medicine like ibuprofen and some stretches. So I have been doing all the things. It normally lasts 4-8 weeks. I’m in week 9. It’s funny because I think all the walking may be what triggered it. I felt so good I actually got the main floor vacuumed which I’ve wanted to do for months. But then I went outside and sat on the swing with Lulu and that hurt a lot. It took a half hour to get past that pain. As usual I was up too late, so I only slept about 5 hours.
Thursday, not the best pain day, I had to lay down again after showering to rest and stretch. We had chiro and massage in the afternoon. I chose not to do the chiro adjustment because our regular one was out of the office. The weather is great. We both rested before dinner. I started using ice more than heat to try to reduce any inflammation. Although with the quantity of ibuprofen I take I don’t know how I could have any inflammation. I wanted to go to sleep early but instead read two books. So only about 4 hours of sleep.
Friday, my daughter had her video visit with the gastro specialist and we ended up with an early morning appointment which had us both struggling to get up. The doc is changing her medication and wants to meet again in 2 weeks but the earliest appt she has is April 9. I had a Sam’s Club Instacart and they had trouble with my member card but figured it out. It hasn’t changed so I don’t understand it.
Saturday I woke up at 8am after a full 8 hours of sleep! I read for a bit and then slept 2 more hours. We went out to pickup at the pharmacy. Then I grilled out and steamed veggies for lunch. I also finally got to baking Monster cookies (PB, choc chip, raisin, M&M, oatmeal cookies). I had a 2nd load of laundry going and the dishwasher before I finally got to the office. Gorgeous weather too. There’s another SDB iris blooming. I need to do yard work but right now I can’t. I’m looking forward to COYER Book Club today. And next week no appts so we can stay home!
I am taking a low-key approach to COYER and most challenges this year. COYER is my favorite though. COYER is being divided into 4 seasons (of unequal length) and different rules for each season. COYER Spring is four months and still mostly strict rules, so I’m going to go for almost 3 books a week or 50 books.
If you want to join COYER Seasons (Spring) or COYER Community (this is where the Read-along facebook chats are) check out all the details HERE.
Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality. These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):
My thanks to St. Martin’s Press, and Brilliance Audio.

I own an ARC of this which I got autographed at DragonCon but since the Kindle version was on sale I bought it.
Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.
I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.
I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.
Hello March! Hopefully we will get more sun than rain because it has rained a lot this winter here. But I’m pretty sure we will be having warmer temperatures now. Is it getting more spring-like where you are?
Anne

Sounds like a productive week, even with all of the appointments. My kids were off last week for winter break, so I took the week off, too. My girl and I got pedicures, went to IKEA, did some shopping. She also had a follow up with her spine doctor, so we had a trip into Boston. The week ended in celebration for my 50th. It was a pretty good week!
I’m so happy to hear you had a good week! My daughter doesn’t have spring break until the 8th. So this week is her mid-terms. I don’t like to go out so much but at least we got these medical appts handled.
Sorry about all the pain, Anne. I hope the new doctor works out for you. I wonder if Butcher will ever write a sequel to The Aeronaut’s Windlass? I loved that book but it came out years ago!
Thanks Tammy. I have learned more and am improving but so slowly. Aeronaut’s Windless was a 5 heart read for me, but it is 5 years ago. I hope he does continue the series.
Those pan cakes sound good! Sorry to hear about your sleep troubles, it’s annoying when you can’t get enough sleep. I hope those new stretches you got will help for your pain. Nice to hear you woke up well Saturday after a solid night of sleep. Those monster cookies sound great too.
I should check out the spring rules as I’ve been counting my reads based on the strict rules, so I have to check what changes.
I hope you’ll have a good week!
Thanks Lola! The pan cakes were great and made it easier to all sit down at the same time to eat. Finally yesterday and today I am getting more sleep. 4-5 hours a night was not making for good days. We love our monster cookies. I got the recipe from one of my college roommates. They are gluten-free without adjusting and freeze really well.
I’m dismayed to see just compromised you are by the pain your are suffering – I do hope the new regime starts to give you some respite. No wonder you are struggling to sleep – and then you are also exhausted:((. Though I’m still gobsmacked at how much you manage to get done, anyway! I hope the coming week is a kinder one, Anne.
Thank you Sarah! At least this weekend I am getting some good sleep which is one of the keys to healing. I’ve never had anything like this, and I don’t know how my daughter has dealt with her various pains for more than 10 years. No wonder she is grumpy or depressed at times.
I am so sorry that you are still in so much pain. It is incredible how many things you still get done with your back pain. Hopefully that gets better very soon. Stay safe and happy reading.
Thank you Vi! At least reading is a pain-free activity.
I have never taken part in Coyer but I would love to. I’ll have to swing by and check out the rules. 🙂
You should! COYER is the best. The new Season Spring starts tomorrow – March 1. But there are two parts now. The Seasons and then the Community. If you aren’t up for the “challenge” of the Seasons, at least think about Community where we have book club and buddy reading and other connection activities.
I hate to hear you’re still in pain! It feels like it has been forever. Hopefully you are on the upswing!
Thanks Samantha. I hope so as it is now week 10. It’s better but not normal. I hate it when something I’ve been doing all of a sudden causes intense pain (opening Lulu’s crate in the morning Saturday). Now today it was fine. At least I have finally had some great sleep this weekends.
I am so sorry to hear that you have been in so much pain. Hopefully this week will be better. And I hope that your daughter is ok as well.
And you gotta love those appt free weeks!
Thank you Erin! I hope so too. My daughter has midterms, her test is tomorrow so she will be stressed until then.
I also have trouble sleeping these pas weeks Anne! I wake up at 4 am too! Let’s hope next week won’t be the same! Have a great Sunday!
The 4-5 hours sleep was getting rough. Luckily I slept more both days this weekend. But I was still trying to get to sleep at 4 am!!
I forgot to sign up for COYER Spring. I will do it next weekend, I guess. I’m doing surprisingly well with my challenges this year. Although I did go easy on myself as to make it not so hard. LOL That helps. Music Man looks really cute. I hope you enjoy you reading! I hope this week brings you less pain. I’m sorry you are struggling so. Take care of yourself and have a good week.
Thank you Wendy. It seems to be baby steps. COYER is my favorite.
Your brunch looks good!
Enjoy your books…I am eyeing Legacy.
Thanks for sharing, and for visiting my blog.
Thank you! I haven’t read much of Nora except all of the JD Robb books. This is the first one I have gotten for review.
It sounds like you were able to get a lot of things done this week. I have always wondered about doing pancakes this way. They look good! I hope you have a great week and enjoy your new books!
Thank you Carole! The pan cakes are good and really easy. I used 2 little sheet pans that I got to use in the toaster over. I should have used 3 as they were kind of thick. It uses 2.5 cups mix (I use Pamela’s GF baking/pancake mix which has almond meal) 2.5 c milk and 2 eggs. Add it whatever: blueberries, nuts, choc chips, spinach, veggies, bananas depending on your tastes. If I make it again for the 2 of us I will reduce the quantities and just make the 2 pans.
I hope you’ll get better soon.
YOu had many different book this week; I’m curious to see how they are. Happy reading!
Thank you! I get the best books. (for me anyway)
Sounds like another productive week. Plenty of appointments, though. I hope the new primary doctor is a good fit. My PCP transferred back at the beginning of the pandemic and I haven’t had need to see her replacement yet. Hopefully I’ll like him when I finally go in (whenever that may be).
Thanks Tanya. I hope we like this new PCP. We didn’t want an appt as we were just in for flu shots in October so we hoped to wait until October but my daughter has scripts and I do which they weren’t willing to refill unless we came in to meet a new doc. Now hopefully we can put things off until 2022.
A busy week, I hope you are feeling ok and I hope your getting a better sleep.
Thank you Heather. I am finding I have to go to bed earlier if I can because many times it’s sleep a few hours, be awake a couple, then sleep a few more hours. If I don’t get that second round of sleep, it can be a rough day.
Pippa Grant’s books are fun. I love them on audio. Good luck with all the doctor’s appts.
Thanks Kimberly. The appts went well enough I just hate being out and about. We wore double masks.
Sorry it was a tough week physically for you Anne, I hope this week is better.
I make pancakes similarly, I’m useless at making them in a pan on the stove…baking them is easier, and they taste just the same!
Wishing you a great reading week
Thank you! I can only do my best and hope to improve. I had never considered baking pan-cakes instead of on the stove but it is much easier.
Sorry for all the continuing health issues. It must be so stressful. (And I can definitely understand why you’d be worried about your daughter sleeping all day.)
Thank you Nicole. It is frustrating for me as I am used to being able to do most things. But it gives me more perspective on my daughter and the pain she has had for maybe 10 years. I believe she, like me lately, sleeps in fits of a few hours, then is up to go to the bathroom, and then takes a bit to go back to sleep. I am often sleeping 3-4 hours and then up 2, and then trying to get another 3-4 hours. Both of us also have some trouble right now falling asleep in the first place. I’m going to bed earlier so I have a better chance of getting a second round of sleeping a couple hours after I wake up.
That pancake looks delicious and I can’t decide if I’d want the blueberry or chocolate chip version! I hope both you and your daughter feel better.
Legacy looks good! 🙂
Thank you Rachel. Well those pan-cakes make such a huge amount, they could be served more family style so you could have both. I should have done 3 pans and done one with bananas, or one with veggies.
So sorry to hear about all the sleep and pain troubles. I hope the new regimen helps out. You’ve had a very productive week so I hope the next week is the same!
Thank you. It’s been about the same, but many less appointments. I want to do a lot more!
That pancake looks awesome. I kind of want to try that now.
It’s really good but the first batch was too thick. I made a 2nd batch which I reduced the ingredients but still need to cut it back more. The original recipe was posted by a friend of mine from the back of Kodiak pancake mix. I think it’s a protein pancake mix. Anyway I used Pamela’s gluten free which is almond meal and it worked well. The original is 2.5 c mix, 2.5 c milk, 2 eggs. Add in things like berries, bananas, choc chips, veggies. Bake 15 minutes. I had to bake much longer because mine were too thick. I cut back to 2 cups and I’m going to try 1.66 next time.
Freebies are too damn tempting! Lol! Hope you enjoy your reads this month ?
Even though I have a lot of freebies, it has worked out very well. When I was researching my Alaska theme this month I already owned books or the first book in a bunch of series as freebies. It made it easy to read them and choose my favorites.
