“You know you can’t keep a good brother down.”

The Chaos Motorcycle Club has won its war. But not every brother rode into the sunset with his woman on the back of his bike.

Chaos returns with the story of Dutch Black, a man whose father was the moral compass of the Club, until he was murdered. And the man who raised Dutch protected the Club at all costs. That combination is the man Dutch is intent on becoming.

It’s also the man that Dutch is going to go all out to give to his woman.

The 1001 Dark Nights series is a good way to read some novellas set up in established series to see if you like the writer and want to jump into a full series written by them.  They are stand alone stories and while I have read a ton of Kristen Ashley books *cough* over fifty *cough* I like that she has this option for those who don’t know her work.  Wild Fire is set after the Chaos MC series has wrapped up and follows one of the next generation as he tries to find his place in the world as a man.

Dutch had two fathers.  The one that gave his life while helping to get the club out of drugs and illegal stuff and then the brother that took care of his family and mom after their dad died.  Both are legends to live up to and it is a lot for a guy trying to figure out how he wants to be in the world.  He was not looking for the woman that would be his.  Definitely didn’t think the mouthy and opinionated, Georgie, sister of the girl his brother was seeing, would be that girl, but when you know you know.

On the longest date ever, Dutch and Georgie try to help a boy who saw his father killed.  They will use her journalist research skills and his connections with the cops, Chaos Motorcycle club and the Nightingale detective agency to figure out why a young man’s dad is dead and who is responsible for it.  The biker and the writer will figure out they have more in common and get each other in a way they never knew was possible.

This is a good sampling of what you will get in the Chaos series if you decide to jump into it.  It is also a good way to see if Kristen Ashley’s uber alpha men are something you are into.  She isn’t for everyone, but I love the stories she tells.  I will say the climax to the murder resolution was a little less than in one of her full novels but fit their level of involvement.

Recommended for those who loved the Chaos series and for newbies who want to see if this writer ticks off any of their boxes.

Narration:

Stella Bloom is a staple in a few of Kristen Ashley’s series and she has a fantastically sultry voice that is wonderful for romance.   This was my first listen to John Hartley.  He is a natural and performed the male characters really well.  He is suited to giving good Alpha and I’m excited to hear him in a few more of Ashley’s books as he seems like a really good fit for them.  I listened to Wild Fire at my usual 1.5x speed.

About Kristen Ashley

Kristen Ashley was born in Gary, Indiana, USA. She nearly killed her mother and herself making it into the world, seeing as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck (already attempting to accessorise and she hadn’t taken her first breath!).

  1. I read most of the Chaos series and liked it. I have to take KA books in small doses so it takes me forever to get through all her books. Love that a next generation are getting their stories. Thanks, Robin!

    • I totally get that. There are so many things in them that should trigger me but idk something about how she tells a story or her characters that I usually enjoy.

    • Yes. Tack and Cherry’s book. I’ve read most of her series. I went down most of her catalogue with a few friends years ago

  2. I haven’t tried this series yet but I have the first book. I’ve just finished Three Wishes by the author
