This is a new feature I developed where each month we will look at our favorite – the best – series in a genre or topic.
The topic here, by my definition, is a series with a setting in a library or with Librarians. These are the ones which came to mind. I enjoyed some more than others.
Since I haven’t read everything, it’s a subset of the possibilities. I’m sure I am forgetting some great authors. There are also plenty of authors I have yet to read. Please share your favorites with me in the comments, also.
My favorite Library series are (in no particular order):
The Invisible Library The Great Library Mercenary Librarians
by Genevieve Cogman by Rachel Caine by Kit Rocha
Hell’s Library Blue Ridge Library Mysteries Library Lover’s Mystery
by AJ Hackwith by Victoria Gilbert by Junn McKinlay

LOL… when I saw the title I was thinking what series did I read via the library, which there are a few! I don’t know that I’ve read a book series about libraries/librarians. I did watch the movies and TV show, tho!
I thought it was a fun theme since we do love books and libraries.
I loved the first two Great Library books, but then just stopped reading the series. There are some good ones here, though! I enjoyed Deal with the Devil and I plan to read the sequel.
I think you would love the Genevieve Cogman ones; they seem closer to your normal reads.
What a generous giveaway, thanks for the chance to win!
I loved The Great Library series, I really want to read The Invisible Library though
I really loved the Invisible Library and highly recommend it. I was lucky to have Ace discover me and the first in that series is one of the first books they sent me.
Wow, I actually read 4 out of the 6 series listed this time. I hadn’t heard of the other two, but will consider giving them a try. My favorite library series is The Lighthouse Library Mysteries by Eva Gates. Jenn McKinlay’s is up there too.
I have the first one by Eva Gates checked out from the library but haven’ read it yet. There are many great books with library settings and I picked the ones I like with a bit of diversity in the genre, so not all UF and not all cozy.
How could I forget, I just picked up Checking Out Crime by Laurie Cass at the library yesterday! Really like that series too plus it has a cat.
I’ll take a look at that series. But a cat is not a plus for me since I am very allergic. lol
I still have the Cogman and Caine series on my wish list to start at some point. Love books set in the library. 🙂
Those are both REALLY good series so I hope you get to try them.
Too hard to pick just one.
You notice I always pick 6, right?
I haven’t read any of these, but Deal With the Devil sounds like a series I’d like! I can’t think of a series set in a library, but I did just read a cowboy romance where the heroine was a librarian. Loved it!
Well the top ones are more UF and I highly recommend the Cogman (more adult) and Caine (more YA) books. The last two are very enjoyable more on the cozy side. The Hackwith is more straight fantasy I think. I hope you get to try some.
I loved Library Jumpers by Drake. I enjoyed the legends that were in the books. They would jump through books to get to other libraries all over.
Thanks for sharing another library series – it sounds awesome! I’ll have to check it out.
First thing I thought about was what series have I picked up from my library to read. Then I seen what you did. I’ve two of those books on my TBR, but I’ve not read any of the books you listed. Fun topic. Thank’s for sharing!
I try to think of something a little different each month It’s a challenge sometimes and other times I just have an idea.
