The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly  @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.

Stacking The Shelves is also a weekly meme hosted by  Tynga’s Reviews and Marlene from Reading Reality.  It’s all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.

Sunday,  I decided to relax a bit.  I finished up my Read-along book before I did my PT exercises and got going.   I still have pain every day but it’s less pain and much less often now.  I got some bacon going in the over and prepped pan-cakes.  Ooops I’m out of milk. So I redid the recipe using buttermilk which was too thick so I added some water.  My daughter liked it better than the milk version.   My Siberian bugloss and Dicentra Luxuriant (bleeding heart) cam finally so I put them in a pail of water to prep for planting later today.   The I went on to more blog visiting.   I got the new flowers planted and all the gardens watered.  Then I wrote some reviews. And stayed up waaay too late reading.

Monday, I called to make more medical appts we haven’t done in the last 1-2 years.  I did a bunch of paperwork.  My daughter is busy with her finals this week.   We got Honey Glazed Orange Chicken from the neighborhood chef for dinner.  I worked the rest of the night on our taxes.  I was so tired I couldn’t even read before bed.

Tuesday,  I was still tired in the morning but I don’t have to go anywhere.  I took down the temporary fencing I used for doing the weed & feed.  The lettuce and basil finally seem to be growing, but the weather is mostly dry so I am still watering everything nightly

Wednesday, I was having bad pain in the right hip but finally stretched it out.  I had PT then followed up with a pharmacy pickup and a UPS store drop off of Amazon returns.

Thursday,  we got mani/pedis for the first time since we moved in 2019.   I made appts and we went to the wrong place. ugh.  The place we went was ok but pretty spendy.  I’d rather try the place I made appts after looking at reviews of like 10 places near our house.  I made another batch of Lulu food, her favorite one with chicken thighs.

This weekend will be busy with family events and I will follow up in next week’s Heart to Heart.

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.  These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):

Many thanks to Simon & Schuster Audio,

(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)

I got my Prime First read and it’s by a favorite author.

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT  they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

The end of this past week and the beginning of this week are a birthday week at Books of My Heart.

Happy birthday to Robin (May 7), Melanie (May 11) and Anne (May 12)!

Happy Mother’s Day!

Anne

  1. I can relate to catching up on medical appointments. I kept postponing dental appts all last year because I wasn’t comfortable going (can’t exactly wear a mask during a cleaning lol). But I finally went this past week and it went fine. Check that box. A mani-pedi sounds wonderful! Haven’t done that in the last year, either. I’m so ready for a treat like that.

    • Thank you Tammy! Happy Mother’s Day! We are lucky to have 2 neighborhood chefs with different styles. But it would be too $$$$ to eat it all the time. Plus I like to cook too.

  2. Happy Mother’s Day! And happy birthday to all three “birthday girls.”

I’m glad your pain is decreasing; that must be a relief, both physically and emotionally. It sounds like you had a good week in the garden. My poor yard needs so much work, I don’t have a clue where to start!

    • Thank you! It is definitely a help emotionally to have less constant pain and be able to do more. As for gardening, I just started with veggies to eat, then moved on to flowers. The bed prepping required weeding and new composted soil but it is easier to do that work with the concept of the food or flowers as the goal rather than just weeding. Now I’m on to lawn weeds which I have never cared about except now for Lu.lu to have nice grass instead of weeds. So the answer is weeds. But pick a small bit at a time so it is not so discouraging.

  3. I am glad to hear you have less pain and less often, seems like those exercises are working. I hope that trend continues. Have a great week!

  4. I’m so happy to hear the PT is working and you are feeling less pain, that is great news! Sounds like things are humming along in the garden. I am on the cusp of planting here, but this week we have lows in the mid-thirties so I’ll wait a couple more weeks to hit the garden. Happy Birthday Week to all!

  5. Aagh, I’m terrible with keeping to a medical schedule, unless it’s really necessary! I’m glad you are sticking to it though and that the PT seems to work and you are feeling better.

Six week to live seems good! Hope you enjoy it!

    Have a good week ahead!

  6. Happy Mother’s Day Anne! I’m glad the PT is starting to work out, hopefully it won’t be much longer before you’re back to 100%.

I’m sorry your nails experience wasn’t better. I’ve contemplated going several times lately, but I’m waiting until (1) I’ve used up all the press on polish I bought and (2) I’ve finished paying off debt – I’m super close and that kind of spending will slow me down. I really want a pedicure this summer though.

Have a great week and time with the family!

    • Thank you! It’s weird how I didn’t miss having mani/pedi, and I certainly didn’t miss wearing a bra, but I feel better having some of those things in public if I am out and about again.

  7. Happy Mother’s Day, Anne! And, happy belated to Robin.

Fun that you got a bleeding heart. I love the plant and how it has seeded and more has sprouted up over the years giving me four of them. The honey orange glazed chicken sounds good. LOL, glad your buttermilk sub worked so great for the pancakes. It’s great that your back is doing better with the warmer weather so you can get about more.
I picked the Loreth Anne White for my Prime free read, too.

Have a good week and a wonderful birthday, Anne!

  8. It’s a birthday bonanza week here at Books of My Heart! Happy belated birthday, Robin?

Anne, we’re sharing a few of the same book choices this week. I was thrilled to see both the Catherine McKenzie & Loreth Anne White books. Nice freebies, too.

Hope your Mother’s Day is wonderful?

  9. Happy to hear your pain is easing up! Sounds like the garden is coming along. I bought flowers to plant and a really beautiful climbing rose, but it’s too hot for me to garden right now. I might do it when it cools down a bit later. I just grabbed up a copy of Loreth Anne White’s after seeing it here. Sounds good! Enjoy the rest of your weekend, Anne! 🙂

  10. So glad to hear PT is working and the pain is a little better. It’s unbelievably exhausting to hurt all the time. I’m slowly working through the appointments that I’ve been putting off for ages. I’m on the last few! Funny about the pancakes. It’s always funny when an accident ends up making a better version. I hope you have a great week!

    • Thank you Katherine. I love playing with my recipes so the pancakes was a happy adjustment. Yes I have the dreaded pap smear next week. Nothing has ever been wrong. It’s just always uncomfortable. I have a Mammogram coming up and my daughter is getting a filling. There’s also a chiro / massage appt. The dog has her annual visit and immunizations and the car is having the oil changed. Plus I still have 2 PT appts next week, so it’s going to be a blur.

  11. Jen

Happy Mother’s Day and Happy early Birthday! It’s so crazy you all have birthdays in one week! I hope you continue to improve with the PT. Here’s to a good week ahead!

  12. I’ve been tempted to get a mani/pedi because I’ve never had one before. I like how pretty nails look, but I know I’d accidentally destroy them right after I got them done.

    • yes it’s very easy to destroy your nails. I try to always sit long enough to let them dry. But on the nails, I get a gel manicure which makes it last. If I get regular polish on my hands it doesn’t last a day. I used to do them every 2 -3 weeks and the pedi once a month but didn’t do anything for the last 2 years with moving and then COVID. Now I at least want to get the pedi once a month in the summer.

  13. I hope that you had a fantastic Mother’s Day and Happy Birthday! It has been hard to stay on top of doctor’s appointments over the past year +. I have been trying to get my daughter in everywhere while she is home for the summer. I hope that you are having a great week and enjoy your new books!

  14. I am so glad you are having less pain and pain less often. Even that must feel like a relief. I hope that continues. Happy Birthday to everyone! A mani/pedi sounds nice. I don’t know when the last time I did something like that. Five or six years ago maybe? And that was a one off. I hope everything went well with your daughter’s finals. It’s been another busy week at work and I am so tired. I wish I could just sleep and sleep. Sunday maybe. I hope you have a great weekend, Anne.

    • Thank you! I hope you do get some rest. I am enjoying being able to do more. My daughter’s finals went well. I am looking forward to a dull weekend since next week is packed with medical appts.

  15. I need to find a new place for mani-pedis, too, as the one I went to in the past isn’t operating anymore. It’s rather expensive here, though, and I feel like it often takes a very long time. At the same time, I deserve a little me time every now and then – especially if I also bring my daughter with me.
    I hope you’ve had a nice week, Anne 🙂 I miss you!
