The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly  @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.

Stacking The Shelves is also a weekly meme hosted by Marlene from Reading Reality.  It’s all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.

Sunday I was very busy with laundry, blog visiting,  planning menus and thinking about major house cleaning (now that I am able to do more).  I started on the task list for the next round of projects.  It centers around sod and yard drainage but there are some other things.

Monday,  I had 2 Instacart orders to restock after being out of town.  One order didn’t deliver the eggs; the other didn’t deliver the corn tortillas or the lime.  I was charged but the items were not delivered. This doesn’t happen very often.  I added them to an order I placed for Wednesday.   It took me 4 days to try to plan the menus and figure out what we would eat and also to use things we have.   I also notified winners on the giveaways and wrote reviews. I made one of our favorite Next Day Turkey Soup for dinner. It’s supposed to be for leftover turkey but my daughter doesn’t really like turkey much so I make it with chicken mostly.

Tuesday, I was supposed to get my Mammogram before my PT since they are right next to each other. But even though they assured me 2:15 would be earlier enough because it only takes 15 minutes, at 2:45 they hadn’t called me and I told them we would need to reschedule because my PT was at 3.

Wednesday was Lulu’s annual checkup.   She hasn’t lost any weight so we have to try harder not to feed her treats.   She also has some itching and rashes so we decided to try an allergy shot this year.  We tried pills last year which didn’t seem effective.

Thursday,  my daughter and I had massages. She had a chiro adjustment and I had PT.   My PT is weaning me off with just 2 appts in June.  I’m mostly better, moving a lot better but I still have some pain every day.  I managed to vacuum both floors without help since December, and also to scrub my shower.  I’m enjoying cooking more too.

Friday, I didn’t sleep well I woke up 3 times and was awake from 5:30-7:30am, then slept until 10.  I woke up only 1.5 hours after going to sleep in pain.   I was ok once I got going My daughter had her filling and I was supposed to get an oil change.  When I showed up for my appt, they told me they were running 2 hours behind.  So I said, I’d reschedule.  I went there since it was right by the dentist but as it’s 12 miles from home I’ll choose a place closer to home.

Saturday,  sort of similar shift sleeping.  I worked on a bunch of research things which ate up a lot of time today.  I did come up with a menu plan.   The standard dwarf bearded iris started reblooming today.

It’s getting HOT this week mostly in the 90s (35C).   Next weekend is supposed to be thunderstorms and then back to the 80s.

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Reading Reality.  These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):

Thanks so much to Penguin Audio.

(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)

After Audible got their snafus fixed I found more of the ones I wanted in the 2-1 sale on Sunday.

I also picked up Night Shift Dragons for $1.99 adding the Audible to the KU ebook.

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT  they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

  1. Your flowers are beautiful! And the chicken soup sounds yummy. I hear you on those 90+ temperatures; I’m not looking forward to them, either. (Although to be fair, here we’ll have a few days in the upper 80s as well as some in the 90s. Still, in May?!)

Seeing Night Shift Dragons on your book haul reminds me that I need to get back to the Heartstriker series. One of these days… (she says, eyeing her 1400+ TBR list in dismay.)

    • Thank you! At least here it will be winds from the North so not so humid with those 90s yet. My TBR is much bigger but has thousands of freebies which I am reading. They are especially great for challenges or scavenger hunts or trying a new author or theme.

  2. Great – now I am hungry! The Next Day Turkey Soup picture looks delicious. Thank you for sharing the link to the recipe with us. I love your flower pictures. It gives me always a great feeling when I see a flower blooming in the garden. Tells me that they love where they are. I am glad that you are feeling much better now. And as always, you seem to be a busy bee. Have a great new week, Anne.

    • Thank you Vi! I loved seeing your garden. There is something precious about the growing plants That soup is one of our staples. I don’t post recipes often and only our most favorite ones.

    • I’m leaving the lawn drainage issue to my ex. He has it under control. I’ll have to help with things now that I’m better and trying to avoid the heat of the afternoon. I’ll be doing more cooking which I enjoy.

  3. Your chicken soup looks delicious! The blue iris is pretty. I need to plant some. I like that they come back every year. We’re getting some hot weather too. In the 90s and upper 80s for the next week. I’m almost finished with People We Meet on Vacation. It’s really funny and good.

I’m so sorry you are still in pain everyday. I hope the heat doesn’t get too unbearable for you.

  5. Lots of appointments out of the way and too bad a few got behind and you couldn’t take care of them while you were close to other appointments. Nice that your back is doing so much better. Warm weather probably helps that though yuck on those 90 degree days you mentions. Love the bearded iris! Glad the sale got fixed so you could pick out a few that look good.

    Have a good week, Anne!

  6. I am so not a fan of these 90 degree days!

I am glad you are doing better. My mom is battling some sciatic pain the past few weeks and it has been unbearable for her. She starts PT next week, I am hoping that it helps. And my mom and I had scheduled our mammograms for the same day and within 15 minutes of each other, so that I could take her and go in due to her pain, but we ended up having to reschedule as well, she just didn’t think she could stand there for it.

Hoping you have a good week!

  7. I’m not a fan of heat but all we’ve had is rain and storms since the beginning of May so I’d quite like a change.
It sucks that you’ve had a week of people running behind so having to reschedule things but I’m glad you’re doing much better with the pain and PT.

  8. Lorna

We’ve been having temps in the 90’s and then out of the blue the high today is 70. But, it starts climbing back up tomorrow. I have People You Meet on Vacation on hold at the library on audio. I think I have 5 weeks until I get it but that’s okay with me. Your soup looks yummy. I’m with your daughter, chicken tastes better than turkey-although I do eat it at Thanksgiving. And you reminded me I need an oil change really bad. All my outings have been dental related and way too many of those! 4 crowns and 1 root canal. Have a good week!

    • I love WKK too. I just discovered the next one I need to read in order came out rerecorded with David Chandler last fall and I missed it UGH. I have it on reserve at the library for now.

  9. It so good to see that you’re having less pain and are getting back to tasks you had to stop for a while. Has to be a good feeling. That’s lame about the rescheduled mammogram and oil change but it happens. And your soup looks delicious!

  10. Sorry I’ve been so MIA. I don’t know if you heard but my grandpa passed away 2 weeks ago and it’s been an adjustment. I’m trying to push myself back into things and visit some of my favorite blogs. I’ve kept some things going but not enough to make me happy.

Glad you and your daughter are doing well. Sounds like it wasn’t your week for appointments. I know sometimes it’s hard for places to keep on schedule but I have no patience so it’s a battle for me 🙂

Apollo and Cassius send hellos to Lulu. They are due a checkup in July. Hope you have a great week!

  11. That soup looks absolutely delicious. I love homemade soup. 🙂 I hope you enjoy that new Emily Henry book. I read the ebook but think the audio book may be even better because of all of the banter.

    • Thank you Suzanne. I sometimes forget about soup in the summer but my daughter loves it. This one is just great because of the veggie mix being a bit different and the sage I think. I enjoy audio for banter, accents and sometimes for a fantasy book which has tough names to pronounce. lol

  12. It sounds like you had another busy week. Meal planning can be really difficult especially if you have picky eaters and foods that you have to avoid. The soup looks great. You listed a lot of different appointments that I need to get busy on but it is so hard to fit this stuff in when I am at work all day. I hope that you enjoy your new reads. I am looking forward to Emily Henry’s new book whenever I actually get the chance to read it.

  13. How annoying! 2 appointments in 1 week that you have to reschedule because they were so behind ?. I hate when I’ve carefully scheduled and it doesn’t pan out.

I’m glad you’re feeling better enough that they’re weaning you off PT, that’s a good sign. Hopefully you get to some pain free days soon.

Hope you’re having a great week!

  14. Thanks K. It is a good week. Even tho I had to redo the 2 appts. One was more annoying than the other because it meant an extra roughly 10 (one way) mile trip and I had specifically questioned the amount of time needed in advance. But they were very fast the second time, so *shrugs*

I’m really happy to be doing more and feeling more normal. It is getting HOT though so I don’t want to go out in the afternoons.
