Max Shannon is a good cop, one of the best in New York Enforcement. Born with a natural shield that protects him against Psy mental invasions, he knows he has little chance of advancement within the Psy-dominated power structure.

The last case he expects to be assigned to is that of a murderer targeting a Psy Councilor's closest advisors. And the last woman he expects to compel him in the most sensual of ways is a Psy on the verge of catastrophic mental fracture...

I love this series. Love the characters. Love the factions. Love the world building.

Amazing! Fascinating! Interesting!

Bonds of Justice is book eight in Psy-Changeling series by Nalini Singh. I had a wonderful time reading about Max and Sophia. We don’t see Max expect in Clay and Tally’s book Mine to Possess. It was a suprise to see him get his own book, but very rewarding, especially after being disappointed in the last book Blaze of Memory. We get a great plot, lots of suspense, several new Psy being revealed, more in-depth into the Psy world and romance.

I enjoyed the visits with past characters. We get to see how they are doing and the parts they play in the storyline. The Psy, at least most, are finally understanding that change is coming a type of awakening. I liked the progress of the plot with the Silence and the Council. I also liked the idea of the J-Psy, Justice Psy, they have a hard life. The concept as a whole, with the J-Psy, was interesting. The sexual tension between Max and Sophia was at an all time high. There was no lack in making me wait and wait for the relationship to hit the critical point. As for Sophia she was a little flat I never really felt like I got to know her. Max I liked as a character, but was never completely enthralled with him.

Another good book in the Psy-Changeling series. I can’t wait to read the next one.

Narration:

Had a superb time listening to the audiobook for Bonds of Justice I actually enjoyed the audio more than reading the book. I think it’s because I’m getting so much more out of hearing these characters. The voices are all so different and enjoyable. I feel I get a more in-depth feel for them. I highly recommend the Psy-Changeling series in audio and/or reading.

About Angela Dawe

Angela Dawe is an audiobook narrator and actress living and working in Chicago, Illinois. Winner of several Earphones Awards from Audiofile Magazine and narrator of two Audie-nominated audiobooks, Angela is also an accomplished improviser/sketch comedian, and has worked with such theaters as Second City, iO (formerly improvOlympic), and The Annoyance. Among Angela’s recordings are Psy-Changeling Series by Nalini Singh, Wild Roses by Deb Caletti, and Savor the Moment by Nora Roberts.

About Nalini Singh

I’ve been writing as long as I can remember and all of my stories always held a thread of romance (even when I was writing about a prince who could shoot lasers out of his eyes). I love creating unique characters, love giving them happy endings and I even love the voices in my head. There’s no other job I would rather be doing. In September 2002, when I got the call that Silhouette Desire wanted to buy my first book, Desert Warrior, it was a dream come true. I hope to continue living the dream until I keel over of old age on my keyboard.

I was born in Fiji and raised in New Zealand. I also spent three years living and working in Japan, during which time I took the chance to travel around Asia. I’m back in New Zealand now, but I’m always plotting new trips. If you’d like to see some of my travel snapshots, have a look at the Travel Diary page (updated every month).

So far, I’ve worked as a lawyer, a librarian, a candy factory general hand, a bank temp and an English teacher and not necessarily in that order. Some might call that inconsistency but I call it grist for the writer’s mill.

About Angela at Angel’s Guilty Pleasures

Hello, My name is Angela and I am the owner/reviewer and mind behind Angel’s Guilty Pleasures. However what I am not is a writer. I apologize now for the grammatical and punctuation errors I make, because I know I’m going to make them.

I never once thought I would start my own blog, but with the help of my computer geek husband and a little pestering from him to do a blog, I ended up with Angel’s Guilty Pleasures.

I’m a mother to a 6-year-old who is non-stop on the go since the day he could walk. I’m a wife, dog owner, animal, and book lover. My favorite animals are horses (i.e. Appaloosas, Lipizzans, & Friesians). I grew up in Northern Indiana on a farm and my father is a veterinarian, so animals have always been in my life and have been a passion of mine. I no longer live on a farm, but we are currently dog owners to a beautiful Australian Shepard named “Saphire”. Some of you book lovers might recognize her name!!

As for reading, my love started as a kid, but then my teen years came and reading fell away. It wasn’t until I hooked up with my husband in College and met his family, who are avid readers, that I really got back into reading. When we moved to the same state as my husband’s Aunt, who is a very big reader of YA/PNR/UF, she suggested I try the first book in Jeaniene Frost’s Night Huntress series Halfway to the Grave. She handed over her Nook and I read the book in a day. That was my first PNR/UF and I got sucked back into reading. Now I read a verity of books and have many authors I enjoy. A few of my favorites are Ilona Andrews, Jeaniene Frost, Gene Showalter, Terry Spear, Lynsay Sands, Patricia Briggs, Setta Jay, Anna Lowe and G.A. Aiken aka Shelly Laurenston.

    • Hi Sophia, Ya Max getting a story surprised me, but I enjoyed it. I liked the audio and my second time through the story was better. I picked up so much more and enjoyed the characters a bit better too. Glad you enjoyed the review today. Thank’s for visiting ^_^!

    • It was my pleasure to participate and share my review in the Read-Along. I always enjoy seeing previous couples and reading or listening to the world expand and evolve. My first time through Blaze of Memory was ok, but my second and third time I enjoyed it more, maybe because I did the audio and picked up on so much more, who knows ^_^. The Psy-Changeling series is one of my favorites to re-visit.

  1. I did like this more than Blaze of Memory for sure. I kinda like when we get to throw a human in with all the Psy/Changeling people.

    • You’re up next so I hope you will do the fb chat on Sunday. You’ll get a lot more perspectives which makes me think of more things and enjoy the series more. Play of Passion is 2 Changelings, one is Breanna’s brother Drew. So I’m looking forward to more wolf info.

  2. Yep, still behind with this series, and I still need to start the last one before my library audio lend expires. Too many review books right now and too little time!
