The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly  @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.

Stacking The Shelves is also a weekly meme hosted by  Marlene from Reading Reality.  It’s all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.

Sunday, I did blog visiting, review writing and had COYER June book club (genre Diversity).  The weather is heating up this week (month) so I’m glad the sod is done other than the watering.   Monday, I made calls and set up more reviews, and did many other chores.

Tuesday, I tried to quickly get through some emails /tasks and get outside before it got too hot.  I discovered that somehow about 4 books on Netgalley didn’t get on my master spreadsheet and I missed doing a review for two’s release date.  UGH!  I was pretty much on track but now I have this debacle.  I also accepted more other ARCs not realizing I had these.  Now they are all going on the spreadsheet.    I mowed the lawn and dragged the thorny bushes to the street to bundle up for pickup.  I sprayed weed killer on a few weeds growing up in the pine straw.  My ex was supposed to leave but just couldn’t finish things up so he stayed until Wednesday.

Wednesday,  I helped him with packing up, did a bunch of watering, got 2 Instacarts from Sprouts and Food Lion.  Then I went to Home Depot to get more information on Kraftmaid cabinets.  I also looked at some Ryobi tools. I’m a big fan of them.  I found a brand new 22″ hedge trimmer (tool only) was $99 + tax at HD but I got it on Facebook Market place for $67.50 and a tool bag for $12.50.   Now if I can find a 9in edger.  It’s taking all day to water all the areas of sod.  And it is hot and sticky today.

Thursday, another day of watering and moving around sprinklers.  I posted the rest of my Thrifty Thursday reviews from my time at Yummy Men & KickAss Chicks  so it is a throwback Thursday.  I am surprised though of how many freebies I have from 2011-2015 which are books by authors who are now more well known.  For example, the Colleen Hoover book in this series of posts.

Friday,  it’s raining!  Yay.  I don’t need to water today.  I took care of a few things, then Lulu joined me on a drive to a northern suburb to pick up the 22″ ryobi hedge trimmer.  It didn’t rain much this afternoon.  I did a chat with Apple and discovered the reason my phone never rings is because it was physically set on silent. Duh.  I don’t think this was a feature on my older iphone though.  I had checked all the software settings.  Lulu was exhausted after her car ride.

Saturday,  I worked a bit on everything.  The weather was perfect with a north wind.  I watered the sod. I did some pickup, cleaning and worked on some blog stuff.  I walked Lulu. I worked on a menu plan.  Then put together an Instacart order for Tuesday.

June Reading:  I had another good reading month.  I managed to read  24 books. Audiobooks continue to help me read more. Some count for more than one challenge.  I listened to 14 audiobooks, read 7  library books,   21 COYER reads,  and  1 book which I already own.

All Library books (including ones not reviewed on the blog)  2021 Library Love Challenge

I did manage to read  1 books I own (goal is 3 per month):

  • Kill Shot by Blair Denholm

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by and Reading Reality.  These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):

Many thanks to PICT via Netgalley,  Sourcebooks Casablanca,  Simon & Schuster Audio.

(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)

I have an eARC for the book, releasing in the US in October but I got this audio deal from Chirp for $3.99.

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT  they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

  1. I really enjoyed The Revelation of Light and Dark, Anne, and I need to read the next books in the series soon. I hope you’ll enjoy it, too!
We’ve had rain every single day for the past three weeks, mostly at night, and fairly hot during the day. It’s been raining non-stop since yesterday afternoon, though. It doesn’t really feel like summer, but I can’t really complain, either.
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.

  2. We got a lot of rain earlier in the week, but it looks like we won’t see any again for a while! Lulu looks so comfortable and happy! My husband like Ryobi as well so that is pretty much all we own! Have a great week ?

  3. Glad you got the sod laid before all the heat comes and had a nice rainy day for the sod. Neat how you found a tool brand you are comfortable with and at reasonable prices. Lulu looks cute all sprawled out. Another productive week even with the stress of missing four review books from the list. I’ve done that a few times and freaked myself out with extra books on the schedule.

Have a great 4th and rest of the week, Anne!

    • Thank Sophia! I’ve already read 1 of them and I’m quickly getting them into the schedule soon. I’m listening to Recipe for Persuasion and looking forward to Incense and Sensibility.

Sounds like a good week overall! Great deal on the Ryobi tool, and some badly-needed rain to help your sod take root. Don’t worry too much about the ARCs that didn’t get on your spreadsheet. You’re very conscientious about them normally, and I’m sure publishers are aware of that.

24 books in June is phenomenal! I don’t know how you do it.

Lulu is so cute! I hope the fireworks this weekend (is NC a state that allows private fireworks?) don’t disturb her too much. And I wish you a happy 4th of July!

      • Thank you! June would have been much better except for one book which took an entire week to read. It didn’t really work for me, and it was a short book. UGH. Lulu is the best. I went to bed early and I didn’t hear many fireworks. I thought it would be tonight but I guess the city shows were last night. Yesterday was certainly perfect weather. I’m keeping up with reading but it’s hard to get the reviews written. But that’s why I read some library books and books I own so I don’t have to write a review. It IS better to be reading.

  5. It’s been super hot at my house, too, but also in Montana where we’ve been for the last 10 days. Just can’t get a break. Thank goodness for air conditioning! And the pool. Oh, a new Adrianna Anders! Didn’t see that one. Stay cool, Anne! 🙂

  6. Our watering system somehow got thrown off by a power outage. We discovered a wasps’ nest when in the garage when we went to see if we could get it back on track. We need to find a way to safely knock it down. Lulu is so precious. I love it when my cats lay like that. My cat Gracie has been my little shadow even more so than usual the last week or so. She’s going to hate it when I start going into the office more often again.

I am glad you had a good reading month! I hope you have a great week and month of July!

  7. Sounds like a productive week! I always dread fire works with Buffy but last night she seemed mostly unphased by them. So hoping tonight she’ll do well. I hope Lulu isn’t too upset by them. Great picture! ❤️

I have several freebies from years ago where the authors have become much better known as well. I still need to read quite a bit of them!!

    Have a great week ❤️

  8. Happy 4th of July! I hope your dog did okay with the fireworks. A bunch of people in my neighborhood are shooting them off now while I’m typing this, but thankfully my dog seems to be ignoring them.

  9. Sounds like a productive week and 24 books is awesome! Lulu looks so cute. Happy reading this week. Happy 4th of July!

  10. Jen

Our weather has been so sporadic. We are in a drought, but then it rained and was so cold (58!) for Thursday – Sunday. It put a damper on the holiday weekend, but we still had fun. The sun finally came out some yesterday (Monday) and the flower beds are CRAZY… all the green has exploded. Hopefully the flowers will start to bloom now, too.

I’m struggling with reading again. I’m finding my books are holding my interest. I need to figure this out so I can enjoy the books.

    • Ah 58 sounds good to someone who lived in MN! It’s going to be in the 90s most of the time for the next 4-6 weeks here. I’m watering so the new sod doesn’t die but everything is doing well.

For me if I’m stuck I move on to a different book and especially a different genre. I sometimes pick an ARC that is a ways out but I really, really want to read it. You could try something like that. I hope you get back to the joy!

  11. Ugh, that’s so frustrating about the late reviews. That’s happened to me (despite my spreadsheets and tendency towards organization) and I also feel bad. And now you’ve accepted others… which throws in another wrench. I hope you’re able to get back on schedule quickly. Nice score of the Ryobi tools! My husband likes their stuff, too, and has a LOT. 🙂
