The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly  @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.

Stacking The Shelves is also a weekly meme hosted by  Tynga’s Reviews and Marlene from Reading Reality.  It’s all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.

Sunday was the usual blog visiting.  I kept busy with watering and took Lulu for a walk in the morning while the wind was still out of the north.  She has been in the bed under my desk the last two days which is great but a bit unusual.  She likes the sunspot by the sewing machine. The daylilies, shrub rose and tickseed are still blooming, along with the orchid inside the house.   I went to bed early and didn’t notice the fireworks too much.  I tested the new hedge trimmer to make sure it worked.  I made a salad for lunch with lettuce from my garden and cherry tomatoes from the neighbor.

Monday, I didn’t get up too early. Even though I woke too early, I went back to sleep easily.  Then I read.  I still do my PT exercises morning and night but I feel more myself these days.  I finally got all the setups done I’ve been working on for posts.  I continue the watering. We had snow peas and herbs from the garden with dinner.

Tuesday, I started with a ton of phone calls.  I set things to watering again.  I figured out how to scan from my laptop. It’s different software than I used on my old laptop. I used to scan from the printer. Now I choose Scan on the computer but it has lots of great editing features.  I got it into a .pdf and then used Google docs to convert it to a Ms Word .docx file.   I saw they put the new speed table in front of my house this morning.  I did an errand run to pick up prescriptions and the ice cream sale.  We are going through vanilla ice cream.  It goes with everything- fruit, cookies, crisp, cake, or brownies.  My daughter stayed up very late to finish up her midterm exam.

Wednesday,  I relaxed a bit in the morning to read a bit.  Then I set to work on phone calls, paperwork and errands.  Things started out promising but ended up leaving me frustrated.  Either nobody wants to get back to me or they don’t want to answer my questions.

Thursday,  it is a steady rain today. Yay!  No watering and it fits with my mood.  I ran my errands to return my 2 Amazon packages so I’d at least getting something done.

Friday,  well I’m getting a few answers but they are not positive.  The city is out in front making a lot of noise working on the speed tables again.   We took Lulu to the vet to update her allergy shot and she also had an ear infection.  She also lost a pound!   Then we had a late afternoon storm.

Saturday,  I went out early while the wind was still from the north but it still felt  really hot.  I mowed 3/4 of the lawn including the sod in the front yard which all looks good.  I have the section with new sod to mow yet in the back but it just felt too hot for me.  I’m in a mood about everything.   I did some blog stuff, some budgeting, and tried to figure things out.  Lowes did get back to me on the new flooring quote for the bathrooms and laundry room, but I don’t know if I will do it now or not.  I don’t know if I will do the kitchen.  I’m a big – I don’t know.   I am planning to cancel Instacart and start doing my own shopping which will be less expensive overall.  I’ll still be home mostly and wear a mask when I do go out.  At 7, it was cooler and I went out and finished the mowing.

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by  Reading Reality.  These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):

Thank you so much to Penguin Audio, and Random House  Del Rey.

(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)

NOPE.

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT  they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

  1. I love the orchids! We have 4 orchid plants… One we got given for our wedding but the other three are because our vet delivers an orchid plant every time you lose a pet as a memorial (and we’ve lost 3 cats over the past 5 years). They’re all white except for one which looks to be the same colour as yours. They’re lovely. 🙂

Good luck on sorting out the flooring stuff… We’re also looking to replace some flooring and I’m not looking forward to all the decisions and upheaval the installation will cause!

    • Yes my daughter’s therapist was killing the orchids so gave them to her and they have thrived with us. We have 2 plants. I want to get some African violets like my grandma had.

Home improvements are more frustrating than I remembered. It seems like you have to educate yourself and check up on their work because nobody follows through these days.

  2. I know what you mean about a mood. I think it’s the horrible heat that prevents me from exercising that has me in one. It’s depressing. This weekend wasn’t good either as my husband and I got the first shingles vaccine and I felt like a truck ran me over and then backed up to finish the job! We both felt like hell.

We’re still working on our kitchen and it’s a mess. I feel for you and the upgrades, but I’m sure you’ll love it when they finish. I love having fresh items from the garden!

I loved Repeat as an audiobook! Hope you enjoy the story, Anne!

  3. Thanks for my Lulu fix???

It’s so frustrating when you can’t get answers to even the most basic questions and it’s worse when a decision on something else is based on getting those answers. Hang in there and just be your positive self, Anne.

Nice set of freebies this week, too! Have a wonderful week.

    • Yes it is frustrating. I also have an accounting degree so I like the detail and this is a big purchase in the $35,000 range. I need those answers. I did get the kitchen cabinets ordered today at 30% off and scored 24 months of no interest financing.

  4. That wind out of the north has been so delicious this past few days. Finally was able to get some more strenuous chores done without melting and not having enough energy. Love that you are feeling so much better and getting more accomplished than ever even with the weirdo moods happening. We’ve been working on estimates and shopping contractors for our bathroom and it is frustrating that many are months out or don’t even bother to respond.

    Have a good week, Anne!

    • yes it’s the no response which sucks. I paid to have my window replaced, ordered paid in full. I have to call to check in with them. Last week they said it is here now they just have to schedule, so schedule it already! Even if I have a general contractor for the kitchen I’m afraid I will have to ride herd on things.

Enjoy that cooler weather; I think it is all hot here for quite a few weeks to come.

  5. Mother of All looks good! I also loved that Kylie Scott book, and I haven’t read that Staci Hart book yet, but I do love hers. I’m getting a bunch of day lillies blooming in my back yard as well. They’re so pretty, and in my favorite color of orange, with a couple yellow bushes as well. Have a great week!

    • Mother of All is the third in a fantasy series and it is loooooong. I love all my flowers. My daylilies are in many colors from pale white or yellow or pink to a very dark purple or red. I ordered a collection of reblooming ones. I went for the easiest perennials that have long blooms.

  6. You did get a lot of freebies! Happy reading. And you’ve been so busy, the photo of your grass looks great! Your watering is working. I have 3 dogs, and they all have to go in for allergy shots too.

Have a great week and happy reading!

    • Thank you Vi! Me too. I’m glad I can do more. Now if I can drop some of this Covid weight gain I’ll be even happier. I always have to have plans and backup plans. I wouldn’t want to just relax or anything. lol

  7. The orchids are beautiful. I hope Lulu is feeling better. Home improvements stress me out but then I like the end results.
We’ve had rain all week pretty much. I got caught in a downpour today at the store when bringing my groceries to the car.
    Enjoy your reading this week!

  8. I wish I didn’t notice the fireworks. My neighbors are noisy idiots who set them off all summer. They even shoot fireworks in the daytime. Or at 4 in the morning. That’s not a fun way to wake up!

  9. Lulu is a cutie! We used Instacart for a while last year, but the fees & tip were adding about $30 to our weekly grocery bill, so I went back to in-store shopping. We still use Uber Eats all the time though. Totally worth it! 🙂 I hope your home improvement plans get worked out. We’re thinking about new flooring for our house too. Enjoy your week!

    • Thank you Diana. yes I am actually canceling Instacart this week because I figured out how much more it is costing too. I will use it again though if things get worse this winter because it was what we needed last winter. Well I did get my kitchen cabinets ordered. Now to decide who will install them. Contractors are difficult.

  10. Thank you for swinging by the blog, Anne:). So glad to read in the comments that Lulu’s ear infection has cleared up. And yes… I hate it when huge DIY projects are hanging over you – I hope you manage to get it all sorted out! I also have an arc of The Last Graduate and I’m over the moon about it, as I loved A Deadly Education:)). Have a great week.

  11. Jen

Happy to hear you are feeling better physically! I hope you are able to stay active and feel good.

  12. I’m glad you are feeling better these days! And your orchid looks lovely.

Have you thought about doing curbside pickup for groceries, instead of Instacart? If you can find a store that offers curbside for free, it would save you money but still let you stay out of the store. We’ve been doing curbside with Walmart, because although our local Food Lion grocery store has curbside in theory, in practice they have been terrible. Walmart has gotten pretty good at it; we usually get what we ask for, unless they have run out of something.

Have a great week — and hopefully even less pain! (More watering, though, I expect… looks like we’re headed for a scorching week.)

  13. Ugh, sounds like it was just one of those weeks, Anne. Nothing goes right, you don’t feel productive, and virtually everything annoys the heck out of you. Blah. I hope this week is off to a much better start and you feel productive.

  14. I am glad you got a little rain. Not having to water yourself is always a plus! We never really got into using Instacart. My husband has an ethical issue with businesses like that–not the people who work them, but the people who run them. So, he’s just been going to the grocery store early every Saturday morning since the start of the Pandemic. Now that things are more open and masks aren’t required for those vaccinated, it’s about half and half in terms of who is masking up indoors. I don’t think my husband wears a mask if he’s by himself, but when he’s with Mouse and I, he does–because we do. That may change now that our number of cases are on the rise again because of the Delta variant.

I hope Lulu is feeling better and beat that ear infection. I had to look up what speed tables are–I wasn’t familiar with the term, although there are a few in the county I’ve come across. Dips seem to be most popular here–that and speed bumps. The dips always flood when it rains so not the best solution. Hopefully the speed table will help with traffic on your street.

I am really looking forward to reading The Last Graduate. I wasn’t approved for an early review copy. Probably for the best. LOL

I heard the air conditioner come on so it’s time to close the window. I was enjoying the morning breeze. I hope you have a great weekend, Anne, and upcoming week.

    • Thank you Wendy. This got away from me last week. Lulu is much better: both her ears and her allergies. We are now trying to get her unafraid of the travel crate we got for her.

We still mask up every time.
