The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.

Sunday, well I got a new battery for my older backup laptop. So it had me drain it to 2% before fully charging it. I visited blogs while waiting for it to drain. I was at 57% and the next thing I knew it was 10%. So it’s all set now. I forgot to say last week I got an email from Jeaniene Frost and she was kind enough to offer prizes and to do a Q&A for the 2022 Read-along. I’m excited and working out details here in the background. I checked the weather info and it was going to be best between 5-6 to walk Lulu and she was so excited. When my daughter got up, I got her to look at the new blocks for my project and we agreed on one finally.
Monday, I went out before breakfast to trim low hanging branches and some bushes which are coming up again. I spot watered the west side of the house. It’s warmer but still a really nice day. I decided to have a relaxing day with some blog planning and setups. I ended up putting together a 3 ring binder with sections for different info like Planning, Memes, Read-along, Challenges, Graphics, etc. I’m tired of having piles of papers. I wrote some reviews. Our orchid is going wild with blossoms.
Tuesday, it feels like Monday and I need to get organized. I’ve got posts to setup, reviews to write, and garden planning to do. I need to get everything ordered for grocery pickup tomorrow. My daughter got up just before dark so we could discuss the garden. I planted 6 little romaine lettuce, 4 broccolini, and a row of snow peas on either side of the netting.
Wednesday, I had finished a book and an audiobook so I need to figure out the next ones to read. I had plans and woke up too early at 6:30am. I did all my busy work and errands. But I knew I would be tired at night. I got 4 more buttercrunch lettuce plants, and did a pickup at Walmart. I stopped at Home Depot and their records showed my cabinets would arrive Oct 31 (except that is a Sunday and they don’t deliver on Sunday). I calculated the materials I would need for my front yard planter. Sadly, the humidity is back and it’s hot, but we might get rain tomorrow.
Thursday, a really hectic day. Home Depot shows up with my garden blocks and pea gravel just as it started to rain. Then I got a text the kitchen cabinets will arrive Oct 4th! I spent a lot of time in the morning on my garden plan and reviewing which plants I want to get. Mid-afternoon I went to a nearby garden center to see what they had. On the way home, I dropped off an Amazon return and then went to the pharmacy for my daughter. It was all messed up so I went home. I unloaded the plants. My neighbor volunteered 2 of her levels to use a 2 ft and a 4ft. Then they texted the RX were ready so I made the 10 mile trip to get them. Lulu went with me this time. I planted 4 buttercrunch lettuce, and 4 more broccoli, so the fall garden is full now.
Friday, I took advantage of the great weather to start work on the planter. I got the east side ground leveled and the pea gravel. On the west side, I started the cleanup and leveling. In the afternoon, my daughter had an appt with the gastro specialist. The Rx she has been taking isn’t really working for her. On the way home, we stopped at a nursery having a 25% off sale to see what they might have of my wish list. Then we went to Sprouts as we had never been there, only ordered through Instacart, but it was right in that neighborhood. We stopped at Sonic for drinks and I accidentally got an alcoholic beverage. Who knew Sonic had alcoholic drinks?!?!? I just wanted a Strawberry slush. It was pretty good though. My daughter was ordering on the app while I was driving. Ooops. By the time we got home it was almost 8 and I had to put away the groceries and plants. I was too tired to do much more, even read, so I went to sleep earlyish. I also tend to be waking up at sunrise. I have too much in my mind to sleep longer.
Saturday, so things are really going full blast now. On nice days, I’ll be out in the yard. On hot days, I’ll be packing kitchen stuff and doing computer stuff. I am really enjoying the garden planning now that I’m into it. My daughter has been getting up many days at 8pm and going to bed at 8 or 10 am. I’m up then so Lulu doesn’t get a chance to go in the crate and sleep. Lulu and I are both tired. lol. The weather was good today, so I worked on the planter and put down the pea gravel and the first row for the design.
Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Reading Reality. These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):
My grateful thanks to Berkley Publishing, Mullholland Books.
(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)
I bought 2 Chirp deals by an author I enjoy for $1.99 and $3.99.
Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.
I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.
I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

It’s exciting that your kitchen cabinets will arrive soon. I’m looking forward to seeing your garden design when it’s done! Have a good week?
Thank you Tammy! It’s a little overwhelming. It’s interfering a bit with my reading too.
I feel so bad for my garden. The planters look okay, but I let weeds take over everything else this year. At least a few of the weeds are pretty, though! Maybe we can call them “wildflowers” instead of “weeds.”
I certainly have years like that too. This spring when my back/hip were so bad I couldn’t do the weeding and it got horrible. I was so happy when I could clean it up.
I love butter lettuce. Granted I don’t have fresh, just the bagged stuff from the store, but it’s still my favorite. 🙂 Sonic has alcoholic drinks?? Seriously? I don’t drink so it doesn’t affect me but that’s still kind of blowing my mind. LOL
Butter lettuce is my favorite and grown in the garden is the best. I know. I drank my strawberry slush and was like WTF?
Looks like your fall garden is well underway. I’ve still got summer stuff coming in, but soon that will be over. The new landscape planter and the kitchen cabinets will be great to finally have in, I’m sure. Way to go using your insomnia to get caught up on an organizing binder and posts. I got Miss Moriarity I Presume, too.
Have a great week, Anne!
Thank you Sophia! I just have to go to bed early because I wake up every day now early. But that is ruining my before bed reading. I read this morning and that was ok except I read the entire book without stopping. My projects are overwhelming all of a sudden. I need to buckle down and do my tasks.
The orchid looks amazing!! Good luck with all the home projects!
My daughter is the green thumb with orchids. Both of ours are really flourishing.
Glad you’re enjoying the garden planning, Lulu looks so relaxed 🙂 The orchids are beautiful. The Sonic by us doesn’t have serve alcohol, that’s interesting yours does.
Happy gardening and reading this week!
I love planning but the actual project can be overwhelming but I persevere. Lulu loves a sweater and a nap. I can’t believe it about Sonic. I had no idea.
What a nice busy and productive week. The orchids are beautiful. I have one too and love it.
Have a great week!
I’ve given myself a huge task list but somehow I always manage it. Thank you! My daughter is the green thumb with the orchids.
As busy as usual, Anne *smile* Love your orchid picture. So beautiful. Have a great new week.
Yes maybe too busy. I’m relaxing today. But I must dig in with all my projects again this week. Thank you!
I know about trying to cut back on freebies. But then I think, hey, they’re free, why not? I may never get to any of them, or 99% of them, but they are there just in case. lol When I first started finding the free ones, I found some of my now favorite authors, like Amy Daws. So that’s why I wonder if I’m missing out! Oh well. I’m ready for nicer weather here to be able to sit outside and enjoy it. Hope you have a good week!
Exactly! I might need one of those books later. Plus that is how I have found some new authors I like. And if my tbr has 3000 books on it, well I read over 300 books a year and I’m going to live at least 10 more years. Someday I won’t be as active like sports, gardening and stuff so then I can read even more, right? I’m excited for more of this better weather.
Sounds like a very busy week. I love that your gardening is going so well. I hope to get a bit better in gardening. It’s definitely a mess at the moment and now summer is coming to it’s end I don’t think it will get any better this year.
That orchid looks gorgeous.
Have a great week and happy reading.
Thank you Maureen! I’ve been studying gardening for many years but this is a new climate to me so it’s starting all over in figuring out the best plants.
Your orchid is beautiful!! It also sounds like the garden is going to be fantastic; even if it is a lot of up front work. I hope this week is a good week for you! I’m going to try getting up earlier this week so that mornings aren’t so frantic. Send me a little of that waking up early stuff my way please! 😀
For some reason my body has decided I have to get up with the sun. Luckily that isn’t too early, it’s around 7. But I need to go to bed before midnight now. I love the gardens I already have planted and was excited to see what would bloom. Now I just have this north side of the house remaining and so I hope to get it planted over the next month.
It always amazes me how much you are able to get done every week. I feel so lazy, lol. Your garden sounds like it’s coming along nicely and I hope everything goes smoothly when your new cabinets are delivered.
Thank you Suzanne. No matter what I do, I want to do more. I really hope the kitchen goes well. I’m getting anxious about it. The other times I had kitchen renovations ( 3 times in MN) it didn’t seem like a big deal but this time it does.
The orchid is beautiful.
Thankfully I haven’t had to replace my laptop battery but I have had to replace the cordless phone batteries a couple of times. My daughter gave me one of her old cellphones so I have my first cell phone now but I still like my cordless landline for phone calls.
My daughter is the one who is talented with orchids but both of them are thriving. I’m more the outdoor gardener of the easiest most durable perennials. Although I am having to learn about NC because the plants are somewhat different than MN.
You are amazing with all you do! Great work on the garden, and how exciting that your cabinets are coming sooner than you thought!
I hope you will do a post about your blog organization notebook. I’m always interested to see how other people keep track of their blogging and so on. I tend to use the computer a lot, but also note some things down in my planner… when I use it.
Thank you! I keep trying but some days really don’t go well. I could post about blog organization I suppose if people might be interested. I enjoy planning and organization so it might be overkill for some. I have shared my Goodreads shelf system with a few friends but warned them they need to adjust it to what is important to them. My system has gone through several iterations and now works well for me. The same will no doubt be true for my blog notebook. It’s not pretty but it is very functional for me. I do something similar for my gardens.
Your orchid is beautiful and Miss, Moriarty, I Presume? sounds intriguing!
Enjoy your week!
Thank you Jen. My daughter has the talent with orchids. I love the Lady Sherlock series.
Great photos! Enjoy your week and your books.
Thank you! I hope I can and also get something accomplished.
I cannot wait for the next Charlotte Holmes book! I’ll be waiting for audio. My laptop (MacBook Air 2015) is suddenly having battery issues. It will shut down when it hits about 50%. So now I’m using it plugged in all the time, which is bad for the battery. I think I’ll need to upgrade soon.
I hope you have a good week!
I enjoy the audio also. I had the battery problem on my backup laptop which I just had the hard drive replaced. But I was able to get a new battery for under $20 thankfully. I hate computer problems.
I wouldn’t have realized that Sonic has alcoholic drinks either. So crazy! Sounds like you got lots donw. Hope you enjoy your garden!!
Thank you Nicole. It was a productive week, hopefully that trend continues.
It looks like you added some great books for the week, I love that cover for the new Sherry Thomas. Its so pretty.
Thank you Renee. Sherry Thomas writes a favorite historical mystery series, Lady Sherlock.
Holy shit! Why have I never thought about a Fall garden?! I must do some reading up on that stat. You’ve been busier than me. Trip and I have been lazy. Though we did mow, blow leaves, and finish splitting the buttcrack tree on Friday. We still need to stack the wood though. Ugh Yay for cabinets coming earlier! And Sonic has alcoholic beverages?? :O
Well the lettuce / broccoli etc are ready in about 60 days which is mid November, it’s still pretty nice. I’ve had broccoli which we ate in January and March. Snow doesn’t seem to bother broccoli. I got a really nice table with planting dates varieties etc for Eastern NC. I think it was a website but maybe I picked it up at a garden center? The leaves are all back and I don’t have 2 days of time or energy to suck them all up again so when I mow I’ll just have to throw them out with the grass clippings this time. I’m a bit overwhelmed with getting ready for this next project. Once it starts I may need more alcoholic beverages. But I was shocked, I tell you, shocked.
How thrilling to have Jeaneine Frost’s support!
It sounds like you can expect a bountiful garden this season… it’s spring here now so all the flowery bushes in my garden have bloomed.
I don’t know what Sonic is but I’m glad you enjoyed your slushie;)
Wishing you a great reading week
I am absolutely thrilled JF is willing to have any involvement. I’m also excited to read all the books. Well the veggies are all set with just watering to do occasionally but the leaves, mowing and that new front flower bed have a lot of work to be done yet this year.
Lulu??? She’s adorable in her sleep, too.
Your yard is looking great and please share when you’ve got it all planted and designed out. Wish I had your talent.
I got the Corinne Michaels book, too. Hope we both enjoy.
Have a wonderful week, Anne?
Thank you Jonetta. I think you have many talents I admire. I am a little overwhelmed with all the decisions and things to be done in the next 2 weeks.
Another busy busy week! I didn’t know Sonic had alcoholic drinks either!
I think it’s only going to get busier from here on out this year. I don’t mind busy so much if I get some sleep and the weather cooperates. I wouldn’t have believed it if I hadn’t seen it. I don’t think of alcohol at fast food places.
You’re always so busy. Remodeling and landscaping are such big projects but will make you and your family feel so much better. I also enjoy Susan Wiggs books!
I’ll be so glad to have them completed. I really enjoy the perennials I have planted on 3 sides of the house and the new sod, now there’s just the front yard. Because it’s the front yard, it needs to look better though. If I live through to the end of the year, I’ll be happy not to do any projects for awhile.
Oh to be planning a garden now! That sounds wonderful!! And I had no idea that Sonic had alcoholic drinks either!! Lol
In the fall it’s just the cool crops like broccoli, spinach, chard, lettuce and snow peas. But the tomatoes are still ripening and I have LOTs of herbs. I was flabbergasted by the Sonic snafu.
Nice to hear the home projects are coming together! Wow your daughter keeps a difficult sleeping schedule. Hard to interact when you two are kind of opposites.
I hope they are coming together. I am a little overwhelmed with projects at the moment. I want to do things but one can only do so much in one day or when the weather is right.
My daughter has to sleep when she can. She often has gastro issues which keep her up during the night which is why she ends up sleeping in the daytime. And at bedtime there is sometimes anxiety which keeps her from getting to sleep in the first place. All her meds are under review right now and we are making some changes. She had a genetic test to determine more about which meds would work best for her.
I’m sorry she’s having to deal with that! That sucks for her! I hope she’s able to get her gastro issues worked out.
P.S. Love the look of your new header. 🙂
Thank you Rachel. I am trying out nearly monthly headers. We will see how it goes.
I am so glad Jeaniene Frost is going to be part of the read-along this next year! I’ve heard she is a really nice person. The new Sherry Thomas book sounds really good!
Yes I’m very excited JF will be involved with the Read-along. It makes it even more fun. I’m so lucky to have met her 2 times. I love the Sherry Thomas series and look forward to this next one.
