The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly  @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.

Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.

Sunday,  I had an earlyish start with Lulu barking.   I did some looking at the Audible 2-1 sale last night and bought a few things this morning. I did a bunch of Sunday visiting.  I handled a bunch of piddly chores including putting a new battery in my key fob thanks to a Youtube video.  I took Lulu for a walk in the lovely weather. I hope the leaves are dried enough to do some blowing tomorrow. I grilled out and used the grill burner to steam vegetables.  The grill burner takes a lot longer than the stove, but is pretty easy to use. I started updating my challenges for month end.

Monday, I managed to be up and well into things by the time the contractor arrived.  They decided they didn’t need me to move out my car. I worked on the Blogaversary post and one review.  I placed orders for our afternoon pickup and did that along with some other errands.  One piece that goes alongside the fridge is damaged.  It won’t affect the countertop installation luckily.  We ate dinner early.  Then the neighbor came and picked up the cabinet I saved for her.

After Monday:

Tuesday, I got to stay home.  I checked off things on my to-do list!  Lulu and I had a pretty long walk.  I finally did the leaf blowing and sucking, so I can find all the dog poop.  The leaf sucker chews up all the leaves which makes them perfect for the compost bin.   I’m loving the weather but it’s going to get a bit colder the next few days.   I got to sleep earlyish for a change.

After Tuesday:

Wednesday,  I have a bunch of tasks today I don’t feel like doing and a bunch of errands.  The granite people came to measure for the countertops to be installed next Wednesday.  Then I did the food run for the next couple days.  The weather was nice and I found a shop where everything is gluten-free; the baker is a celiac.  The contractors were here late.

After Wednesday:

Thursday,  it’s the coldest day this fall 45F (for the high) and may freeze tonight. It’s also supposed to rain all day but it’s barely a drizzle.  Luckily it will warm up tomorrow and the rest of the week.  The contractors aren’t here today.  I started on a big paperwork project and sorted all our medical bill and insurance files from 2015 to current.  I recycled a bunch of paper. Then it was the usual computer stuff, laundry, etc. By late afternoon, I was feeling so chilly I was wearing not only a sweatshirt but my jacket in the house.  The house has heat. Why am I so cold?  I did some menu planning for the next week.  I covered the tomatoes and basil.     Oh  and I’ve lost my mind.  I found there is a streaming channel discovery plus that has the things we love: HGTV and Animal Planet.  It would be $4.99 with ads but for students, like my daughter, it’s $2.99 a month.  So yes, we are doing it.

Friday,  it doesn’t seem like anything froze.  The contractors are here today working on electrical apparently.  The designer said we need to order another part for added money.  And other than the damaged piece, they should be done by the end of next week!  So I’m cautiously optimistic.  That would be just 3 weeks, the shorter end of the projected time. I wrote a couple reviews.  I grabbed a whole bunch more Christmas freebies for HoHoHoRAT like I don’t have hundreds already.  I ran my errands to donate stuff, pick up a few items at Trader Joes and the food run for the weekend.  Most of the work today was electrical so it doesn’t show much in photos.

After Friday:

Saturday,  I stayed up way too late watching 6 episodes of Love It or List It.   And I have books to read! I still have roses blooming and the anemone is blooming in the new front planter. The lettuce and snow peas are doing well.  I just don’t know about the broccoli. My daughter continues to knit and progress on the blanket and Lulu loves blankets.  Lulu and I took a short walk with her bundled up in her coat. It was cloudy and the wind was strong and cold.

October Reading:  I read 22  books. Audiobooks continue to help me read more. Some count for more than one challenge.  I listened to 14 audiobooks, read  4 library books, 22 COYER reads,   and  1 books which I already own.

All Library books (including ones not reviewed on the blog)  2020 Library Love Challenge

I did manage to read 1 books I own (goal is 3 per month):

  • 🎧 Last Bus to Woodstock by Colin Dexter

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by  Reading Reality.  These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):

I’m very grateful to Brilliance Audio,  Little Brown,  Tantor Audio,  Berkley Romance (another to giveaway) .

(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)

I got these from the Audible 2-1 credit sale.

I had a promo credit from Amazon and snapped this up for 99¢.

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT  they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

Anne

  1. I haven’t watched HGTV shows in a minute. There was three years in college that I never watched TV but then I had a near break down and started watching HGTV and loved those shows so much.

  2. Ooh! My Lulu fix🥰🥰🥰

Your kitchen is coming along nicely. Now that the weather is getting colder, contractors like to focus on inside work so it’s great to see they’re on schedule.

I love, love, love Love It or List It! I discovered it earlier this year and am obsessed with it. Doesn’t surprise me that you binged six episodes😏

You picked up some great titles in the Audible 2-for-1 sale. I’m a big fan of Sebastian St. Cyr series, though I read it. I’ll bet it’s great on audio with Davina Porter narrating.

    Have a wonderful week, Anne💜

  3. Looks like you are getting a good deal accomplished even with things topsy-turvy from the installation. That will be great if they finish at the short end of their estimate. It does look neat in the photos and Lulu looks cute.
Nice haul! Glad you got Fated Blades and fun that you picked up two Sebastian St. Cyr’s in the sale. I picked up several of those same freebies, too. Not bad for your reading totals considering all the distractions you had getting ready for the reno and then during it.

    Have a good week, Anne!

  4. Your kitchen is looking great. I’m excited to see the end result.
I’m definitely going to check out a few of those freebies. I definitely need a little more books for HoHoHo.
Have a great week and happy reading.

  5. The kitchen is coming along well and Lulu looks so cute snuggled into her blanket. I started the year well in terms of reading books that I owned but hadn’t read. It’s not gone so well lately! I’ve only bought books this year if I’ve had time to read them immediately.

  6. I enjoy seeing the progress on the kitchen. Nice that it looks like they’re a bit ahead of schedule. I hope that continues. Yesterday was my day that I just could not get warm. I think the high was 48 and it was cold and rainy. Even with the heat on I couldn’t shake the chill. It’s been a while since I’ve gone to Trader Joe’s. I love it and wish I had one a bit more convenient. As it is, I really have to make a special trip to the closest one.

    • Yes that was me – chilled inside the house even. It was really windy which didn’t help. The closest Trader Joe’s to me is about 12 miles but it is in the area where we lived for 4 years and know well. We have appts in that area once in a while so them I can stop by there. I hope they finish this week so I can spend next week getting everything clean and put in place.

  7. Ooh that streaming channel sounds pretty good. I miss Animal Planet and some of those channels sometimes.

Hope your weekend is going well 🙂

  8. I’m glad they’re making such great progress on the kitchen! You’ll have to do before and after shots like the do on TLC when it’s 100% finished.

I’m not a fan of cold weather, so the shift this week hasn’t been my favorite. By mid-day it’s nice out but in the morning and evening it’s too cold.

My mums are looking beautiful right now, I’m so glad I bought them and planted them in September. It was late to be starting but it was worth it for how pretty the balcony is now.

    Have a great week!

    • I think it will really feel different when the countertops and sink go in on Wednesday. The normal high here is 50 in the winter but we were in the 40s for high last week which felt too cold. It’s going to be 70s this week which is perfect. I am so glad I did the planter with my flowers including mums. It was a lot of work and I wasn’t really sure I could do it by myself but I’m glad I kept at it.

  9. I love the progressive pics of your kitchen, Anne. I’m looking forward to seeing the granite tops:)). And that is a beautiful blanket… I hope the coming week is a good one and hopefully the disruption to your kitchen remodel is kept to a minimum.

  10. Your kitchen looks amazing! It’s going to be so nice when it’s done, and I can’t wait to see the pictures. I also love, Love it or List It, such an addicting show!

  11. Your kitchen is really coming together! It looks nice! I think I’ll read Fated Blades tonight, but I’ll probably listen to the audio since I think my hubby will like the series. I enjoyed Married For Christmas a while back. Hope you do, too!

  12. HGTV shows are my lifeline when we’re in the hospital. They’re nice and stress free but still interesting. That sounds like a great deal! So glad the damaged bit didn’t mess with counter install. I have had friends who have had nightmares with that. I hope you have a wonderful week!

    • Thank you Katherine. I like HGTV anytime so I probably shouldn’t have the streaming service. lol This is my 4th kitchen renovation and funny, I’ve owned 4 homes. I like my kitchen how I want it. But I don’t remember delays or hassles with any of them. It hasn’t really been too bad. I just don’t like people in the house, probably more so because of the whole Covid thing.

    • Thank you Shelleyrae! I LOVE, LOVE HGTV and Animal Planet. You should at least do the free trial for a week if you have time to watch that week. If you have a full-time student (as I do) you may be able to get the lower price one also. It has ads but not very many. I almost never watch Netflix or Prime which we have but my daughter watches them all. She’s very excited about DiscoveryPlus.

I also have the audio for The Good Turn. I have the whole series on audio. It just took a long time to come out in the US after it was available there.

Isn’t YouTube the best for finding how tos? I had a short in one of my fobs and had to switch out the battery – I also googled a how to on YouTube!

    The kitchen is looking good!!

I had a good week. I didn’t get home from Liza’s until later Monday, and then had to drive back into Boston for my daughter’s doctor appt. on Monday morning. I was back in Boston on Sunday to see Hadestown with my daughter. So a pretty busy week!

    • Technically I just googled it. Sometimes it is on a manufacturer’s site but often on Youtube. I did the same thing when I built my planter out front. I watched a bunch of videos from a variety of sources and then did what I wanted even though it wasn’t quite what was recommended. yes, the kitchen continues to get closer to finish. I think after the counters and sink go in tomorrow will be a huge change. I’m glad you had such a good week, although a busy one.

  14. Your kitchen is looking fantastic! Hopefully, the project will wrap up according to the plan. I have never known anyone who had a kitchen remodel so I didn’t realize that it took as long as it does. It sounds like you had a rather good week. I hope that you enjoy all of your new books!

    • Thank you Carole. Every week is a good week. I did get some things off my plate that have been there for awhile. And I’ll be glad to have all these bigger projects completed. It’s my 4th kitchen reno. I realized this weekend I have done one at every house I have owned. I like my kitchen the way I want it. I want to enjoy all my new books. Quickly but I can only read so fast sadly.

  15. You’re making great progress on your kitchen! It looks fantastic! I also had some good walks with my Lulu this week. 🙂 I’m always cold, even in the summer. It’s why I love summer so much because it’s the time of year when I’m LEAST cold. Lol.
