The Psy-Changeling world has undergone a staggering transformation and now stands at a crossroads. The Trinity Accord promises a new era of cooperation between disparate races and groups. It is a beacon of hope held together by many hands: Old enemies. New allies. Wary loners.

But a century of distrust and suspicion can’t be so easily forgotten and threatens to shatter Trinity from within at any moment. As rival members vie for dominance, chaos and evil gather in the shadows and a kidnapped woman’s cry for help washes up in San Francisco, while the Consortium turns its murderous gaze toward a child who is the embodiment of change, of love, of piercing hope: A child who is both Psy…and changeling.

To find the lost, protect the vulnerable—and save Trinity—no one can stand alone. This is a time of loyalty across divisions, of bonds woven into the heart and the soul, of heroes known and unknown standing back to back and holding the line. But is an allegiance of honor even possible with traitors lurking in their midst?

I picked the Psy-Changeling series a bit hesitantly with its classification PNR (paranormal romance).  The series is really a blend with a romance in each book, at least one, and the overall story arc being urban fantasy.  The combination has been very satisfactory.   Nalini Singh delivered an engaging story with each book.  There is thrilling action, along with tender moments and the heartfelt struggle of personal growth and releationships.

I want to thank everyone who has read-along with me. I have found, particularly in COYER with its book club and now supporting the facebook chats, that I get so much more out of the books in the discussion process and perspectives of others.  In particular,  I love buddy reading with Berls at Because Reading, the blog is also the host of COYER.

Allegiance of Honor is the perfect ending to the series, taking us on a tour of our favorite couples and characters.  It is a love letter to fans.  The scenes with so many we have come to love is endearing.  It was fantastic to get so many vignettes, more than just a mention.  In the ebook, there is a character list at the beginning. Many of the characters are actually new in this book. They are Arrows, who have been strong and silent in the background. Going forward, they will be more known and still strong as the enforcers of law and founders of Trinity.

One character we were particularly happy to hear more about is Stefan.  He was introduced in a novella, Echo of Silence (#2.5), which is included in Wild Embrace anthology.  He has played a small but critical role throughout the series.  He started as an Arrow but couldn’t do Silence their way, but was too skilled to rehabilitate.

The plot is not lacking as some have implied. There is the introduction of many new Arrows.  The search continues for the missing Black Sea changelings with some strong efforts and action.  The investigation into the Consortium,  those who would hurt Naya,  and the reigning in of Ming, all moved forward. Some of these plot lines will continue into the Psy-Changeling Trinity series spinoff which has 5 books so far.

There are also key pieces of foundation built for the new Trinity accord, not just in the policies determined but in the working relationships and trust with joint operations.   A major agreement is considered as to how to include everyone in Trinity without letting those who want to destroy it have access to its intelligence and business advantages. Including everyone is hard when you aren’t willing to just kill everyone who disagrees with you or is different from you.  I found it incredible, heartwarming and difficult, the integrity in this inclusive aspect of Trinity.

I am so grateful to have chosen and read this series in this community of readers.  Thank you all.  I also want to thank again Berkley Romance and Tantor Audio for providing prizes and support for the Read-along.

  • No one played games with Kaleb.  (This made me laugh so hard)
  1. I loved finding out more about the BlackSea changelings.
  2. We definitely need a book about the RainFire changeling pack! I need to know more about this diverse pack! And we especially need more JoJo!
  3. I really enjoyed reading more about the Arrows and the issues they have with Silence and the awakening feelings they’re trying to process.

About Nalini Singh

I’ve been writing as long as I can remember and all of my stories always held a thread of romance (even when I was writing about a prince who could shoot lasers out of his eyes). I love creating unique characters, love giving them happy endings and I even love the voices in my head. There’s no other job I would rather be doing. In September 2002, when I got the call that Silhouette Desire wanted to buy my first book, Desert Warrior, it was a dream come true. I hope to continue living the dream until I keel over of old age on my keyboard.

I was born in Fiji and raised in New Zealand. I also spent three years living and working in Japan, during which time I took the chance to travel around Asia. I’m back in New Zealand now, but I’m always plotting new trips. If you’d like to see some of my travel snapshots, have a look at the Travel Diary page (updated every month).

So far, I’ve worked as a lawyer, a librarian, a candy factory general hand, a bank temp and an English teacher and not necessarily in that order. Some might call that inconsistency but I call it grist for the writer’s mill.

About Berls at Because Reading

Michelle adopted me as part of her blog when I decided to close down my blog, Fantasy is More Fun. The blog was dying, but my love of reading and the blogosphere was still strong as ever – so I found my new home here at Because Reading!

I’ve loved reading as long as I can remember knowing how and will always pick a book over watching tv, a movie, or sometimes even spending time with friends/family. I caught the blogging bug when I started my blog in July 2013 and it takes up most of my spare time (that’s not spent reading). When I’m not reading or blogging, I’m usually spending time with my husband of 12 years, my teenage stepson, or my brother. My dog, Buffy (yes, she’s named for Buffy the Vampire Slayer my all-time favorite show) is always by my side, whether I’m reading, blogging, or just hanging – and she’ll probably show up in a few blog posts.

As a little girl I wanted to be author and even wrote a short story that I sent to a publisher. I did this all on my own, just taking the address out of my favorite Babysitter’s Club book and asking them to make it into a book for other people to read for me. Although my first attempt at publishing wasn’t successful, I cherished that rejection letter for years and maybe someday I’ll fulfill that childhood dream of writing my own books. I recently finished the first draft of my first novel – Sweeter Than Death – and really hope that I’ll be able to make a go of it someday not too far away. And in 2013 I authored a short story in the anothology Welcome to the Future that I hope to someday expand into a full-fledged series. But in the meantime, I enjoy sharing my love of books with others and will often showcase indie authors that I admire for doing what it takes to make their dreams to write come true.

I can’t remember a time that I wasn’t reading at least one book and I’ve often longed for people that I could share that joy with. That’s what I love so much about blogging and communities like Goodreads – I finally found people who love to read as much as I do and who enjoy the kind of books I do!

I also have the privilege of teaching Kindergarten. I love what I do and you can expect it to bleed into my posts. Teaching is a big a part of me as my family and reading. So grab a glass of wine and chat books, blogging, and family with me!

Great review Anne! I’ve added mine to the Linky! I love this book so much! I laughed and I cried! I’m thinking of one particular scene that I absolutely balled my eyes out. Nalini is the absolute best!

    • I hope you will get to read this series, it’s excellent. I wasn’t sure but once I started reading it built throughout, continuing to develop the world and characters. This was actually me – I was just giving credit to Berls who buddy read each book with me. We talked about doing a joint review of this one though.

I’m so glad I joined this read along. I loved this series. Nalini Singh’s world building was incredible! I’m sad the original series is over!

    • Thank you Sophia! I really appreciate your efforts and willingness to participate. Even if you don’t read-along every year it is fantastic that you link up your reviews. I just love the read-along even though it is a LOT of work. But it’s also a really fun experience. I have made a lot of changes over the years of doing them and for the better I think.

    • Interesting you say that Wendy because I was worried to choose this series. I much prefer urban fantasy. But this series is kind of both. There is a romance in each book but the overall story arc is very much a uf type thing. It’s far more interesting than just a new romance in the book that way with layers of things going on in the world as well. I’m very glad to have chosen and read it.

Heart of Obsidian was my favorite of the series. I loved Kaleb’s dedication to Saraha over all those years and the way she smoothed his edges.
