Sunday, I got a lot done yesterday but there is so much more to do yet. It’s a cloudy day so it feels colder. I’m doing some visiting of blogs. We also had the last Psy-Changeling chat. It is such a great series and was wonderful to read.
Monday, I managed to get going pretty well. I handled some calls. Then I ran a bunch of errands handling returns, ,ailing off some Blogaversary prizes, and a Walmart pickup. The weather is really nice. We managed to torture Lulu with a toenail trim. My daughter walked with Lulu and me on our shortest route. Then in the almost dark, I blew the leaves off the front yard. I put up our holiday lights on the front porch. I loaded up the dishwasher again to try to clear more of the boxes still in the kitchen. The problem is it is mostly plastics which have to be on the top shelf or hand-wash items.
Tuesday was a frustrating start with Goodreads down and Netgalley being weird. I waited on hold for Walgreens for 30 minutes and it hung up on me. I took my daughter to campus to take her final. While she was there, I got my Rx at Harris Teeter (no one in line), went to Walgreens to order her Rx (1 in line before me), ran to Aldis to pick up a couple items, went back to Walgreens (1 in line before me). I got back to pick her up about 15 minutes after her test ended. That’s the fastest I’ve ever gotten through all those errands. Of course, if I could have gotten through to Walgreens earlier I wouldn’t have had to go there twice. I made a batch of Lulu food (chicken thighs, brown rice, spinach, 4 veg mix, vitamin powder) while cooking our dinner and unloading /reloading the dishwasher as part of unpacking.
Wednesday, I woke up to cloudy and it had rained. I’m glad to have a day at home. I’m really working the boxes. I still have herbs, lettuce, snow peas and broccoli in the garden. I have roses blooming and I notice a few irises reblooming yesterday. Our front there are still mums blooming and anemone, and the azalea. I worked on doing a lot of post setups this afternoon. The cabinet panel was supposed to be here between 12-4 and arrived at 5:30. Then Lulu and I went to walk in the nearly dark.
Thursday was a really great day at home. It was cold so I wore my handknit wool socks. I worked hard on getting posts set up for the next few weeks and got all my ARCs set up. I took Lulu for a very short walk, as it was also windy. It was freezing by dark 32F, 0C but got warmer overnight.
Friday, I started by emptying the dishwasher and refilling it with plastics. I have finished unpacking things wrapped in packing paper so I gathered that up with those boxes and another I emptied and hauled those out. I have 3 boxes left! It’s cloudy but warmer. I got an Instacart order from Food Lion for a few items since I had a $15 promo which ended today. I did some more unpacking getting rid of another box. I went to mail prizes at the USPS and then to buy some basil. Though cloudy, it was not cold, so Lulu and I went on our walk. I planted pansies where the impatiens were done. I picked snow peas and herbs to use with dinner.
Saturday, I got up and got to work on things. I looked over the college class possibilities because my daughter is not liking the classes or rather some of the teachers we selected in November, and payment is due Monday for Spring. I made some blueberry scones. I unloaded the dishwasher and loaded it up again. I made another batch of Lulu food (ground turkey this time). I called Walgreens and of course, things are messed up. I went over and picked up what they have at least, since my daughter is totally out. The weather is really warm and nice, even though it is cloudy, Lulu and I took a nice walk. I had washed some soft side coolers. By tomorrow I should be down to one box!
Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Reading Reality. These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):
Special thanks to Tantor audio for the rest of the Georgina Kincaid series from Tantor Audio, and Berkley.
(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)
I bought this Chirp deal for 99¢. Then I got a gift of a credit from Audible. The box set was 99¢. Then a $1.99 deal on a future Read-along book (I own all the audios but not the ebooks which are best for highlighting and note-taking)
Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.
I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT they are free so I guess that won’t be happening. The 6 Nathan Hystad books are in Kindle Unlimited but are FREE to buy right now, with the rest of the series at 99¢.
I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

Sounds like a busy and productive week. And I’m always envious of your fresh from the garden goodies. Sounds a bit frustrating dealing with Walgreens. I’m so thankful that I can pick up and scrips from the pharmacy on base (my husband is retired from the Navy). I see you picked up Bossman. I listened to that one on audio a couple years ago and enjoyed it so much. I was surprised at how emotional it got.
This was a very busy and productive week. Yes I am not very happy with Walgreens but some other pharmacies don’t carry the specialized medications my daughter takes. I saw your review on Goodreads which is part of why I got Bossman.
Wow, you had a busy week! It’s getting cold here too, down in the 40s at night and 60s during the day, and I think we might have rain on the way. That pretty much sums up California winters😁 Have a good week, Anne!
A busy, but good week. We end up at 50s for highs and 30s for lows so a little colder but not bad here. The broccoli and snow peas and even some lettuce / chard don’t seem to mind the cold. Thanks Tammy!
Glad you found your wool socks. I found my son’s boots although I’m still looking for a snow suit for him.
I totally enjoyed some wool socks and alpaca socks. When I lived in MN, I had not only my daughter’s snow gear but also for my nieces and nephew who came up from Florida for the holidays and to ski most winters.
I got my blogoversary prize this week! Thanks so much! I think I need to plan to join in with your Thrifty Thursday post in 2022, I’m going to set a goal to work on those books for sure! One or two a month. Sounds like a busy week for you. Hope this one is good! I’ve got to get out and do more blog commenting myself! I kind of miss how at my last job I could do more blogging at work.
You’re welcome. I do hope you do some Thrifty Thursday next year. I post it usually the 3rd or 4th Thursday of the month, but always a Thursday. It’s really just linking up something you are already posting but the idea is the commitment to read at least ONE freebie a month.
Sounds like a good, busy week! I’m always so happy when it gets colder, it means Christmas is on the way.
I’d love to have herbs and greens in my garden, but right now I live in the city where the gardens are just big enough to sit in. Hopefully in my next house 🙂
Have a good week!
The yard is one reason we chose this home. The back yard is fenced in for the dog and I built raised garden beds for herbs and veggies.
The weather has been up and down here. But, Friday was pretty warm!
Yes it’s been in the 50s more and more here which is average but we got 73 and I wish I had done more. Next week is supposed to be nice though 60s-70s. Then probably back to the 50s which is ok if the wind isn’t too wild.
My dog let’s me trim his toe nails a few at a time as long as I give him a treat afterwards. He has me trained well. lol
Lulu doesn’t like it. But it goes quickly.
Yay for getting through all those boxes and errands. Seeing your packs of Lulu’s food always gets me intrigued. One of these days I will try to make the cats homemade food to see how they like it since I do have a recipe book for it. Hope your daughter enjoys her next term classes/teachers better. Wow, looks like a nice haul of review and personal books.
Have a great week, Anne!
Thankfully it was a very productive week and I’m even just a little ahead on reading which I hope continues. I talked to the vet before I made her homemade food and they recommended the vitamin supplement. I always think I get the best books, for me, and I’m grateful.
You had a busy week! I like that you make dog food for Lulu, we make our own dog food too.
It was busy but I am very happy with what I finished.
Book chats sound fun.
I think it’s nice you make your own pet food. My one cat has been acting funny with his food lately- mainly just being finicky and maybe we’ve spoiled him with to much people food haha- but I’ve been thinking of adjusting his diet…
I love vegetables from the garden although ours this past summer was a mixed bag ha.
Anyways hope you are well. Looks like you scored some good books…
Thank you Greg. I grew up in rural Iowa so I love gardens and cooking. I was in 4-H for 10 years, basically all the years available. I love that here in NC I have 2 seasons of gardening and I still have fresh things growing.
That is nice. Here it’s in the 20’s now so we’re definitely out of season, but… I look forward to spring and hopefully growing some veggies!
Oh I did read the Richelle Mead series a while ago. Have a great week and happy reading!
I’m enjoying getting to finally read the series.
Ugh yes.. Goodreads being down was really frustrating. Especially since it always seems to happen when I have stuff to do on there. LOL!!
I’m glad you got so much done this week. I’ve been feeling like my to do list is getting longer and longer. Sigh..
Have a great week and happy reading.
This time of year can be tough. My list is long enough that if one thing isn’t available (Goodreads) I can move on to other tasks and I had a really productive week so I feel good about it. Thank you Maureen
Sounds like a productive week. My mom has the same problem getting Rx’s from Walgreens. Do you like the Dresden books? My hubby has been reading them and they were recommend by a few of my co-workers, but I just couldn’t get into the later ones.
Yes you either have to find a Walgreens with a good pharmicist and develop a relationship. I get my Rx at Harris Teeter but I have very few and common RX where my daughter has some speciality meds.
I love the Harry Dresden series. I listened to the whole thing on audio and bought all the audio books. James Marsters (Spike) narrates and he’s terrific. I’m going to do a Read-along of the series in 2024. Maybe you can join us?
Lulu looks like she’s surveying her property💜
Congrats on getting through all those boxes, Anne! It has to feel good to be getting back to normal.
I have major issues with Walgreens, too. It’s been a frustrating experience this past year where I had to abandon the Mail program. Good luck!
Nice book haul week. I started to get Boss Man, too, but am still thinking about it. Have a wonderful week!
Lulu is the boss here. We all know it. I am loving finally getting things in order. Walgreens is not making me happy these days. I get all the freebies that I have any slight interest. I have gotten more selective though.
I need to check those Richelle Mead’s books! I’ve only read Vampire Academy and the spin-off, but I loved them a lot!! So I have to check them!
They are old from about 10 years ago but just rereleased on audio. I’ve always wanted to read them and Tantor is indulging me.
Sounds like you had a busy week! It’s cooling down here as well, and we have a lot of rain coming tomorrow. I love the rain but having to drive into work doesn’t make it fun. So many accidents it usually makes my commute a nightmare. You still have a lot going in your garden. I have tomatoes, green onions. I have lemons coming and planted broccoli plants which are doing well. I just finished Shards of Hope this weekend and hope to start the last book soon. I was behind all year!
I was busy and got a bunch accomplished. I’m so glad you are still reading and hopefully enjoying the Psy-Changeling. I thought it was so great.
As ever, a really busy week, Anne. I also had problems with Netgalley on Tuesday – neither could I get onto Goodreads. I put it down to Storm Barra raging outside messing things up, but clearly wasn’t the problem with you. How lovely to have so much produce still growing in the garden:). I’ve just downloaded the first book in Nathan Hystad’s sci fi series – thank you for sharing! Have a good week:).
It was a really productive week. The first 6 in the series were free so you might want to grab them while they are free unless you have KU.
Lulu is certainly well fed 🙂
I’m sure you’ll be glad to be done with the kitchen things!
I enjoyed the Succubus series though I don’t think I actually finished it. I’ve heard Peacock is turning Vampire Academy into a tv show.
Wishing you a great reading week
I’m glad we can give Lulu real food. I’m so happy to be getting near finished with the kitchen setup.
Sounds like a busy week and you’re pretty much all moved into the new kitchen! Awesome! My Lulu also hates getting her nails trimmed so I have them do them at daycare. 🙂
It was very busy but I was so happy to get things finished.
The Kinky Bankrobber series by Annika Martin is one of my favorites!
We had a good week. I took my daughter into Boston for some check up appointments, so we got Chick-Fil-A on the way home (we don’t have any near us). I also went into the office for a meeting/staff holiday brunch and secret Santa. I miss seeing my coworkers every week. The weekend was good – spent time with my inlaws and watched some movies. I also finished up my Christmas Shopping!
Carolyn Crane is one of my favorites. I’m so glad you had a nice week and finished up your shopping.
