The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly  @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.

Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.

Sunday, it’s cold but I bundled up a bit and Lulu and I walked anyway.  I did Sunday visiting.  I also organized some of my upcoming reviews. My ex put together the fire pit I bought a few months ago. He also assembled the relaxation fountain I bought our daughter for Christmas.  I noticed the orchid is ready to bloom AGAIN!

Monday, I got right to things with laundry and an Instacart from Food Lion.   It was a bit warmer and Lulu and I walked again.  Then my ex and I walked around to look at things to do outside and also where to hang stuff in the garage.

Tuesday, is slightly warmer.  My ex helped me do a freezer inventory.  It’s getting some frost and the seal bubbling again so I scheduled another service call with GE.  I reorganized things a bit.    Lulu and I walked on a medium length walk.

Wednesday,  it’s Lulu’s birthday, she’s 4 years old!    My daughter planned to go to the zoo with her father.  I planned to stay home with Lulu. The weather was nice so Lulu and I walked the longest route.  But my daughter didn’t feel well so they just went to Trader Joes for the gluten free bread she likes and came home.  I made a Godiva gluten free torte but of course, Lulu can’t have that. I made a batch of her food with her favorite chicken to have fresh.

Thursday,  I tried to walk Lulu before our chiro appt and of course, it rained on us as soon as we went halfway down the block.  She didn’t like it.  Then it didn’t rain the rest of the afternoon.   We watched the Olympics on actual broadcast tv.  NBC is the only station it gets.  If I watched more tv, I’d have to get an antenna. I wanted to watch the later stuff in bed but couldn’t get it on livestream. Sigh.  Late nights for me – I LOVE the Olympics.  I am really loving the new team skating event.

Friday, I had a Sam’s club Instacart for 11-1.  It was all shopped before I woke up and delivered at 10am.  I had to hustle out of the shower to get up and put it all away.  I have lots of kitchen work this afternoon with meal prepping the salmon and making a batch of Lulu food with chicken thighs. My brother butt dialed me and we talked 45 minutes.  Before that we’d been messaging about Tesla recalls.  I called about my HSA because some weird things were happening and got that understood. It’s a cloudy day but nice so I should get out with Lulu before it rains.  I got ready to go, planning to put the chicken things in the oven and head out.  But then I got a text from the contractors, they were going to come over at 5 instead of tomorrow.  So I forgot to put them in, and remembered and cut the walk short to go back and get them started.  So he came a half hour  and looked and did nothing. At least, he wore a mask.   I got her food made and then I was just tired.

Saturday, it’s time to Drop Everything and Read for February COYER.  It’s colder and I didn’t feel like walking Lulu with the cold and wind.  I worked a lot with blog posts and a library email. We are watching lots of the Olympics.  I love them.

January Reading:    I managed to read 31 books. Audiobooks continue to help me read more. Some count for more than one challenge.  I listened to 14 audiobooks, read 4  library books,  23 COYER reads, and 14 books which I already own.

All Library books (including ones not reviewed on the blog)  2022 Library Love Challenge

I did manage to read 14 books I own (goal is 3 per month):

  • Halfway to the Grave by Jeaniene Frost
  • Protecting Caroline by Susan Stoker
  • Hot SEAL by Lynn Raye Harris
  • Night with a SEAL by Cat Johnson
  • The Intern by Gregg Hurwitz
  • Fall Out by Zoe York
  • Hellbent by Gregg Hurwitz
  • Ruckus by Zoe Dawson
  • SEAL for her Protection by Paige Tyler
  • Out of the Dark by Gregg Hurwitz
  • Into the Fire by Gregg Hurwitz
  • The List by Gregg Hurwitz
  • The Prodigal Son by Gregg Hurwitz
  • One Foot in the Grave by Jeaniene Frost

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Reading Reality.  These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):

Many thanks to Forge Books, and Harper Voyager.

(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)

I got a Chirp deal for $4.99.

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT  they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

  1. My first thought was, that your daughter was holding a little girl in her arms. Until I noticed it was Lulu in a dress! O my gosh *lol* that cheered me up a bit. I LOVE your orchid pictures. She seems to like the place she is standing or hanging? Anyway. The color is just beautiful! Happy reading and stay safe and well my book friend.

Happy Birthday to Lulu-both your girls look great! How do you get your orchids to bloom again? I think it’s too cold here for them.

My week was good – nothing too exciting. We had an ice storm Friday, so no school again. I managed to get in more exercise this week, including shoveling ice and snow, so that’s good. We also got a sound bar for our TV and it does make the sound nicer.

    • We don’t do anything for our orchids. My daughter used to put them in a steamy shower once in a while. They are in the same pots they came in practically dead from her therapist 3 years ago. She gave them to us because she was “killing” them. They are in a south bay window in our kitchen eating area. Since we moved to this house I have watered them once a week on Sunday, if I remember.

The weather has been from snow to 70 here and it’s a bit disruptive. And of course now I’m watching the Olympics late every night so my schedule is off too. I’m glad you are working with your plan.

  3. sounds like a pretty good week. i have been watching the last of the football games, senior bowl yesterday and pro bowl today. have also been watching some olympics. i hate that i can’t watch like in previous years. seemed to be all over the tv. now, i feel they are trying to force us to stream. oh well, i’ll see what i can see…

    • Well I have mostly be watching thru NBC live broadcast and then free Peacock. I think what they want is to have you PAY for streaming. We already have enough streaming. But at least we’ve never had cable. I love almost every event in the Olympics Winter or Summer.

  4. Sounds like you and your ex are on pretty good terms,! He seems to do a lot of stuff for you. I think that’s great!

    Happy b’day to Lulu!

  5. You’ve reminded me I have towels in the dryer that need folding. Sundays are my big laundry day, although I do laundry throughout the week. Orchids are so pretty. My mom’s bloomed a couple weeks ago. Happy Birthday to Lulu! I love her outfit. 🙂 It looks like you had a great January in reading, Anne. If I can read more than one book a week, I get excited. I’m in awe of those of you who manage so much more. Your new books look so good. I hope you have a great week!

  6. I’m loving the Olympics too! I haven’t watched any today though.

I see you have a lot of Gregg hurwqaitx on your list. I read a YA book of his a while back but I see him a lot and hear good things. also Carolina Moonst looks nice.

  7. A busy week you had! My orchids are starting to bloom again. Some flowers have been there for a week or so, but there are more coming out! Weather has been cold but sunny here so I have taken my son out for a walk every day this week!

Hope you had a good weekend 🙂

  8. Wow, look at that gorgeous bloom. Fun that your ex could come for daughter’s birthday and help with projects. That is great that you got out on your walks even with the iffy weather.
You did fabulous with your TBR pile and library reads this month.

    Have a great week, Anne!

  9. It seems like you ex is helping out a lot! It’s nice to have someone handy around. I don’t know what I’d do without my hubby. My son is really handy too, and for that matter so is my daughter so I guess I wouldn’t be totally screwed, lol. You got a lot of walking in! I did a 2 mile jog on Thursday, but I’ve been working on organizing and clearing out so much that I didn’t get out anymore this weekend. Your orchid looks beautiful.

We’re both blazing through the Orphan X series! I’m loving it. I just started the audio of Into the Fire today so I’m not sure I’ll have the last one done before the end of next week. I think my husband and I will listen on our way up to Northern California on Wednesday night. I’m loving it and I noticed you are, too. Enjoy the rest of the weekend, Anne!

    • Thank you Rachel. I’m a little handy but not as much. The ex comes so he can spend time with our daughter and help with stuff. It’s a good thing I love the Orphan X since I bought them all before I started listening. I’m looking forward to warmer weather with more flowers and better walking, but that’s a month or two away.

  10. We love the Winter Olympics too! We are using the Peacock App to watch though, we don’t have cable. It took me a minute to figure it out since they have two versions, the world broadcast and the NBC one. I realized I like the NBC one better.

    Happy Birthday Lulu!

  11. I love the Olympics but have not had time to watch even a little bit. I’m just so busy and I either watch tv, read, or get extra sleep. Reading tends to win, followed by extra sleep. TV loses 9/10 times lol.

Wow, Lulu is 4 already! Happy belated birthday <3

As always, a productive week. I'm sorry the fridge situation didn't get sorted yet. I know you'll be so happy when you get to go a whole month without having service repair / contractors in your house! Like you said, at least he wore a mask.

    Have a great week!

  12. Wow, what an impressive number of books read in January! The orchid is stunning, I never have much success with them but yours looks very healthy.

  13. Happy Birthday to Lulu. What a lovely photo of your daughter and Lulu.
What an amazing amount of books you’ve read this month. I read 11, and it was pretty impressive for me. 😀
Have a great week and happy reading.

  14. Happy birthday to Lulu! I’m looking forward to our puppy being 4. He’s a great dog but the puppy days are not my favorite. A relaxation fountain sounds like an absolutely wonderful gift. Hopefully you will soon be done with all the contractors. 31 books is seriously impressive. I hope you have a wonderful week!

    • Thank you Katherine. Since I wasn’t doing outside projects, I read more in January. I was glad that Lulu was all housebroken and stuff since she was a rescue. She has some odd quirks though. Since she lived with male dogs, she is very into lifting her leg and marking on walks. She is also very cautious around men and bigger dogs, until she knows them.

  15. It sounds like you had another busy week. It is great that your ex is helping out with some things around the house. I am sure that my ex wouldn’t lift a finger to help me under any condition. I hope that you have a great week!

  16. Yes… it’s that time of the year when the wind blows and cuts like a knife. Your orchid looks beautiful – I do need to do something with my two, which are in trouble because I keep forgetting about them:(. And like you – I’m spending lots of time watching the Olympics, which I love. God bless the BBC, as the coverage is excellent and I can watch any of the sports I want as they are happening – which I’m not doing, but I am recording them. Take care and I hope the rest of the week is less windy and everyone keeps well.

  17. jen

I only read 12 books in January because my phone broke and now I’m only using my mom’s to continue reading 😭 31 books in January is INSANE! I also love your orchid
