Georgina Kincaid has been a bad, bad succubus...

…which should be a good thing. But lately, thanks to her foul mood over breaking up with bestselling writer Seth Mortensen, she’s been so wicked that Seattle’s über-demon Jerome, decides to “outsource” Georgina to a rival—and have her spy for him in the process.

Being exiled to the frozen north—okay, Vancouver—and leaving Seth in the cozy clutches of his new girlfriend is unpleasant enough. Then Jerome is kidnapped, and all immortals under his control mysteriously lose their powers. One bright spot: with her life-sucking ability gone, there’s nothing to keep Georgina from getting down and dirty with Seth—nothing apart from his girlfriend that is. Now, as the supernatural population starts turning on itself, a newly mortal Georgina must rescue her boss and figure out who’s been playing them—or all hell will break loose

I’ve been enjoying the Georgina Kincaid series, and finding it very easy to go on with each book after the previous one.  Georgina is in a dark mood here as she and Seth broke up and he went right to Maddie the same night.  I wasn’t too thrilled with him.  It’s complicated though since they didn’t make their relationship public and because of Georgina’s needs as a succubus.   Georgina takes up dating Dante, who I don’t like, along with drinking and smoking. I felt kind of sorry for Dante because he wanted to do everything he could to be enough for Georgina.

Georgina is so immature for a centuries old being.  I like her and want to root for her to have what she wants. But she seems to keep making the same mistakes over and over without learning.  Yet, she’s smart and good at figuring things out when there are problems in the hellish community.  Jerome sends her to work with Cedric in Vancouver to stop a satanic (human) group.   It’s really weird.

Then Jerome disappears which it turns out all those under his purview lose their powers.   It’s a really odd time in the community and no one seems to be hunting for Jerome but Georgina.  Everyone is kind of out of sorts.  I kept thinking Georgina might have the chance to become pregnant and she would really love to have a child. Georgina continues to make some missteps in her relationships.

Succubus Heat is a fantastic addition to the series!  The mystery was engaging, the personal relationships complex and developing,  and it was well paced. I guessed how some things would play out but not all of it.   I REALLY hope Georgina is learning and having some personal growth now.  I’m intrigued to see where things will go now.

Narration:

Elisabeth Rodgers is Georgina for me.    I enjoyed her performance of both males and females and they were comfortable to hear.   I was able to listen at my normal 1.5x speed.
