The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly  @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.

Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.

Sunday,  I got up a little later because I did a little reading. Last night, we had from the garden  chard sauteed with shallots in olive oil and red wine vinegar.  I did the usual blog visiting.  The Facebook Chat for the Read-along was great and I was excited to see some new faces.  But I started feeling really achy. It’s 85 and I’m cold wearing socks and a sweater.  I decided to have a fruit smoothie, finish up my visiting and get to bed really early. I did manage to unload and load the dishwasher and clean the kitchen counters.  So I have a fever of 101.  The last time I had a fever was in 1997 when I had strep throat.  Ibuprofen made me feel better.

Monday, I don’t feel too bad with ibuprofen but there is fatigue.  Luckily I’m not having sinus issues or digestive issues or other big things.  I read this morning after sleeping later.  Then I got my review written.  I’m going to rest more than anything today.

Tuesday, another day where I did more resting than anything.  I did set up some posts and do some chores around the house.  Wednesday, I did more chores and made a batch of food for Lulu.  I got an email and so Amazon will now support EPUB but not their own MOBI format in the future?  UGH.  My daughter has finished both her finals and done well. YAY!   Some of my daylilies have huge buds and will bloom sometime soon.

Thursday, since my daughter had a med appt, I thought maybe we would do early voting before and a Walmart pickup afterward.  Everything went awry when we went to the voting site about 12 miles from home (the closest) and after the sign to turn in there were no more signs and about 10 buildings.  So we left to go to the med appt, which one of the people she was supposed to see called out so that was partially wasted.  We had extra time then so we went to another voting site, about 15 miles away,  and got it accomplished.  I’m starting to believe it about voter suppression as we live in a major city and the closest voting sites are 12-15 miles and it’s not like they are on a bus route or anything. Then we had the Walmart pickup.

Friday,  it was the last day of upper 80s so I stuck to indoor tasks mostly.  I paid my daughter’s college tuition for summer, worked on a menu plan, and then a reading plan for the RAT and this month.  I also researched what I might want to read for my Series in a Month challenge in June.  I noted my mix of ARCs is half eARCs and half audio ARCs.  I made another batch of food for Lulu.  My daughter and I talked about day trips or activities we might do this week when she is out of school.  Facebook was wonky all week but finally seems better.

Saturday,  my daughter was still up when I got up.  She is really excited about lettuce from the garden, so she picked a bunch for our dinner tonight.    It’s supposed to rain hard by late afternoon.  So I took Lulu for the first I’ve walked with her this week right after breakfast.  It was really nice weather and we took the long route by the swans.  Then I got to work on blog visiting, and writing a review.  I spent a lot of time looking for our zoo membership card, which had me cleaning up my desk a lot.  I found it finally, in the first place I looked, which is where I thought I kept it. *face palm*

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by  Reading Reality.  These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):

Thanks so very much to Berkley, MacMillan Audio,  and Harper Audio.

(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)

NOTHING.

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT  they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

Happy belated birthday to Robin – May 7th

Happy upcoming birthday to Melanie – May 11th

    • Thank you Tammy. We live in a major city, in the suburbs. I think it’s more limited because not as many people vote in the primaries. Maybe on election day there will be more locations? But this fall I know we have a location for voting which is only a mile or so.

  1. Sorry to hear the week started with you feeling off. Hopefully you’re feeling much better now. Sounds like Thursday was pretty frustrating all the way around. At least you finally did get to vote. I was a bit annoyed by the Amazon announcement about no longer supporting mobi files. But now they’ll support epubs? So screwy. Hope you have a good week, Anne!

    • Thank you Tanya. Thursday was the first day I tried to get things back to normal and it was totally a mess. Things got accomplished so I’ll just move on. It’s like Amazon admitting their chosen format really isn’t as good so now they will go the one everyone else is using?

  2. Happy Mother’s Day. I can’t believe you had to go so far to vote. We live in an average-sized UK town and there will be at least 3 or 4 different places you can go to vote. Polling stations are rarely more than a mile or so away. I guess if you live in some very remote parts of the country you maybe have to travel to the nearest town, though you could do a postal vote instead. Congratulations to your daughter! Mine has A-Levels (qualifications taken at 18 to get into University/training) in May & June, she has worked much harder than I did for mine so I’m hoping it all pays off!
Have a good week and happy reading x

    • Thank you Louise. I think now it is just because it is the primary and early voting. Maybe on election day, the closer voting location will be open. There is one about a mile from us which I know will be used this fall. We live in the suburbs of a city with more than a million people, so we are not remote. I’m looking forward to this week with no school for her and she is much more relaxed and less anxious to just do some fun things.

  3. I’m glad you’re feeling better. And glad you finally got a chance to vote, how frustrating that the site is so far from your home. We voted this week as well for a small county vote, but we do the mail-in ballots, so it’s much easier for us. I just finished The Emma Project this morning and I really enjoyed it. Hope you do too!

  4. Glad you’re feeling better and that it wasn’t anything worse. You can go to more than one place to vote? We have to go to one specific place to vote based on where we live, so it is close to where we live. Although, were you doing absentee or advance voting? I think we have to go to the county courthouse for that. Yay for the new Hazelwood book. Hope this week is a better one for you!

  5. Voting shouldn’t be hard on peopel, on the contrary. Sigh. Also happy mother’s day Anne!

  6. Hope you feel better, Anne! Resting is the best medicine. What’s this about Amazon not supporting Mobi? Does that mean when we get a Netgalley book it won’t transfer correctly from Amazon?

    • Thanks Rachel, I am feeling better now. Amazon won’t accept .mobi files after August for Send to Kindle. I guess I never download Amazon books per se so who knows what format those books are internally at Amazon. I’m sure Netgalley will figure it all out as they have the send to Kindle button and hopefully it will do that going forward, for all I know they have already sorted it.

  7. Jen

    So much going on…

First HBD to Melanie and Robin! Hope they are good ones.

Second Happy Mother’s Day to you, Anne. I hope you are feeling better.

The whole Kindle/mobi thing is so confusing and they really aren’t providing answers. I sent a couple questions via twitter but no response. I also tweeted to NetGalley… I cannot figure out how to upload their epub files. I’m going to reach out again. I’d like to understand what they are planning to do for their Kindle users. I’m also frustrated bc I have ARCs and author/publisher purchased mobi books. What happens if I want to upload and read them again, should something happen? Sounds like we are out of luck, although some folks have recommended Calbre. I used it back when I had a PC, but never got it to work with my Mac. *sigh*

Weather is getting better here. It’s even going to be in the 60s (maybe even 70s) this week. Yea!!

    • Thank you Jen. I am better. The weather has taken a drop from upper 80s to 50 and I actually will like the cooler weather this week, 60-70 after today’s chill.

I figure Netgalley will figure out the Send to Kindle thing. For all we know, it’s already done. I mean we don’t actually see the document format it is at Kindle unless it’s a .pdf. I have used Calibre but the copy protection might make things iffy. I load all my .mobi files up to Kindle so they are already there. But in the future I need to take .epub files instead of .mobi.

  8. Glad you are feeling better now and that besides fever and energy level you were able to plod along. Yay for garden goodies already. That’s weird that in a city you have to drive so far for the nearest precinct. Our small town alone has four voting precincts. Yay for your daughter doing well on her finals.
Sounds like you got quite a bit done and hope you enjoy some local stuff for a few summer days off.

Happy birthday to Robin and Melanie! Happy Mother’s Day to you, Anne!

    • Thank you Sophia! I think it is because it was early voting or primaries and there will be more on election day. So Mark Lawrence tweeted me this morning. And I’ve been under a misimpression for like 3-4 years!!!! I was thinking the Girl on the Ice series was about Yisht who was in Book of the Ancester and it’s a whole different person Yaz so that is where I got so confused in this book as I kept expecting the stories to connect. They did a bit with Zole but I’ll have to do some rereading to get my head around things. I can’t believe I got that idea and kept it for YEARS. UGH.

  9. Hope you’re feeling better! The Murder game and Armstrong’s book look fun.

The voter suppression thing- yeah it’s crazy how in America where we celebrate our democracy so much that it’s getting this way.

  10. That’s awful about the voting. It shouldn’t be that hard to vote. Even though I vote opposite of most of the people in my state, voting is easy here because everything is done via mail-in ballots.

  11. Glad your feeling better. Having to go 12 to 15 mile to vote in a city. It shouldn’t has to be like that. I had some problem with voting before due to my home addresses being change.

  12. Our federal elections are in two weeks, and I’m currently working in a prepoll centre in my town. There is only one, but it is conveniently placed directly between the two main shopping complex’s (malls), and it’s open from 8am to 8pm. Of course voting is compulsory in Australia so they do try to make it easy generally.
I love lettuce but it’s extraordinarily expensive right now, about $5 for a small head of cos!
I hope you are feeling better.

Wishing you a great reading week

    • Thank you, I am feeling better now. There are some things which are less expensive in the garden and I think Lettuce and herbs are. Some things are more expensive but the better flavor makes it worthwhile.

The few places may be because it is early voting or primaries and there may be more places on Election Day.

  13. I’m so glad you are feeling better and the ibuprofen helped. Not feeling good is not a good time. Sorry the voting thing was so difficult. Seems like it would have been really easy for them make it simple by just adding another sign or two. I hope this week is going much better!

  14. Sorry about the lergy you had at the start of the week and I’m glad you managed to recover. And I’m a bit shocked at what a struggle it was to vote! I moaned because they moved our voting station from a 10 minute walk to a 10 minute drive… Like you say – it would be very easy to think they don’t want voters to register their opinions! I hope this week is turning out to be a good one, Anne:).

  15. I hope that you had a wonderful Mother’s Day, Anne! I am sorry to hear that you were sick recently. It is amazing to me that you haven’t had a fever for over 20 years. Nice new additions to your shelf. I am almost done with A Rip Through Time and am enjoying it.

    • Thank you Carole! With my daughter having her issues, it is a good thing I am so healthy. And I don’t like to be sick. We took a day trip this week to celebrate Mother’s Day, my birthday and my daughter’s week between school sessions. I’m really enjoying my reads these days. I’m getting excellent ARCs and fitting in some things I own or get from the library.
