The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly  @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.

Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.

Sunday, I didn’t get going too fast, but then it was on to blog visiting.  I really enjoy finding out what has been going on with everyone during the past week.  The temperature’s dropped about 30 degrees in the last 2 days and it’s about 45F/ 7C following a week of 88F/ 32C.  So it feels cold.  I’m putting off the yard work until tomorrow with a 68F / 20C which is near perfect especially with a north wind all week, it’s going to be nice until the rain at the end of the week.  My daughter and I had a Facetime call with my brother and Mom (Grandma).  Now I’m making roast chicken, broccoli, green beans, roasted root veggies, and apple pie for dinner.

Monday, I tried to get going faster because I had so much I wanted to do. It’s warmer but quite windy. I wrote a review, did my blog visiting and went thru emails. Then I made some phone calls to get ready for a day trip on Wednesday.  Lulu and I did our walk and saw the swans.

Tuesday, I got going faster today.  I watered the lawn,  pulled weeds,  spread weed n feed on 80% of the yard. I vacuumed the entire main floor of the house. Then I ordered some RX for my daughter, got it set up so I can manage her refills through my account.  I did some blog visiting, placed a Walmart curbside order because I ran out of weed n feed.  Then after the sun moved, went to weed on the other side of the house where there was now shade.  I finally got the soil and compost out of the back of the car and put it into the beds where it was needed.  I ran around with the weed n feed sprayer to spray the cracks on the driveway and places on the pine straw where weeds were coming through.  Then I picked chard for dinner.   All these chores make for lots of audio listening time.

Wednesday was our day trip. It was a combination of Mother’s Day, my birthday and my daughter’s week between school sessions. I got going early. I went right out to weed n feed the rest of the yard after letting Lulu out.  We packed up and headed for Wilmington.  After the drive, we ate lunch at a gluten free place with outside seating.  Everyone came by to pet Lulu.  Then we went to the NC Aquarium. My daughter went in and I walked Lulu on the path.  Then I went in and she rested with Lulu in the car.   Next we went to the beach at Fort Fisher. Lulu seemed ok with sand but ran in the other direction when she saw the ocean (as expected).  She did enjoy lots of people and other dogs on the beach.  I was excited to go to a Mexican place with a dedicated fryer and outdoor seating which even has dog meals.  We had seafood tacos. Lulu had her favorite chicken.  We headed home, making it by 10 with plans to do all those things again.

Thursday,  I slept until I woke but it wasn’t too late.  I did some reading and lots of catching up on blog comments and visiting and emails with 2 days of stuff.  My back was a bit sore for some reason.  We watched 2 episodes of Hell’s Kitchen and had some of my current favorite foods, along with a gluten free blueberry pie for my birthday.

Friday,  I wanted to get going quickly.  I decided to take Lulu with me, even though she would have to stay in the car at the Farmer’s market.  I got tomato and basil plants, fresh strawberries and raspberries. I did a curbside pickup at Wegmans.  I did some of my computer stuff. Lulu and I walked the long route by the swans, still no babies but it should be soon. It was really nice even with rain projected for late afternoon.   I planted the tomato and basil plants mixing in some extra cow manure compost.

Saturday,   I am happy to report that I’ve not had any of the issues with Goodreads or Facebook this week so whatever it was, hopefully it’s over now.  It’s been rainy today which is great for the new plants. I had a headache so I took it easy for the morning but I did get some visiting and wrote some reviews, until I got over it.   I was on ta chat with Amazon about a return issue and they said it is solved but it looks the same on the order and they didn’t send me an email so I am skeptical.  When my daughter got up, we took Lulu for her walk.   My daughter got an A for each of her classes this spring!

Things I Learned This Week:

OK  if I’m asking for help, I’m also going to share the cool things I learn. You may already know them but hopefully it will help someone.

I ordered some sandals on Amazon and returned them in April. I got an email that they issued my refund.  So I thought it was over and normally I would throw away the receipt of the return.  Luckily, I did not because they emailed me to say I needed to return the item by May 22nd or I would be charged.  I put the tracking number into UPS and sure enough it is not delivered. I did a chat where they said it is fixed but the return status looks the same and they didn’t send me an email, so I am skeptical.   Anyway, save the receipts and / or check the tracking.

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Reading Reality.  These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):

I’m very thankful to Canelo, and Sourcebooks Casablanca .

(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)

NOTHING.

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT  they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

Anne

  1. It sounds like you had a wonderful day trip. Nice that you were able to take Lulu with you! I don’t buy much from Amazon but the items that I have had to return I usually take to our local Kohl’s and get a receipt that the items have been returned. I hate it when packages get lost in transit. Nice new reads this week. I think that I may have to get my hands on the new Amanda Bouchet book.

    • Thank you Carole. We really wanted to take Lulu. She is a good traveler and the walking trails and on the beach she would enjoy. We wanted outdoor seating at a restaurant anyway. The Aquarium was the only problem and we just had to take turns. At least I could walk her on the trails there while my daughter was in the exhibits. I’ve returned to Kohls also. I’m just not sure if I pursue the return transit problem with Amazon or if I have to get charged for it and get UPS to reimburse me.

Sounds and looks like you had a lovely birthday! Yea! That is a drastic change in weather. I know it’s been hot “down there” We had a day at 80 (yesterday) but now it’s back into the 60s. I love the heat after so much cold.

I don’t even remember last week it went by so quickly. My son had lacrosse games M, W and Friday, so we were busy watching him play. They had two tough games that they lost, which was a bummer. I’ve been walking in the morning, which I love – it’s quiet and calming.

    • I would like to walk in the morning but with PT exercises and my daughter getting up in the late afternoon it just isn’t going to work if I’m to have any time with her. I’m thinking as it gets hotter we will have to walk after dinner. I did so much stuff last week it was a blur.

  3. Congrats to your daughter and that walk looks like a lot of fun. Its been pretty great weather this week and especially for cinco de mayo. It was pretty awesome.

    • IKR? I was hoping for dog friendly but I always go check the menus and info and then call the restaurant also but right on the website they showed the meals for dogs! I knew it would be great. Plus one of my favorite foods is seafood tacos. And they had a dedicated fryer for gluten free.

    • It was really fun. I just do a lot of planning with maps, checking fees and parking, looking for rest stops, checking restaurants for dog friendly and outdoor seating plus gluten free. I do this for every vacation or day trip. I’m a thorough planner. It makes it easier if things don’t go as planned I know the alternatives.

  4. The aquarium looks so cool! And Lulu is adorable as always! Returns are always things that make me nervous when I ship them back. I need to return a pair of shoes I bought in the wrong size and get the right size, but I think I threw the original shipping box away because I knew those were the shoes I wanted. So I’m learning to wait on that! lol I have tons of boxes sitting around, but I didn’t keep the one I needed. We had hot weather here all week. Ugh!

  5. I like cruising the Sunday Post’s and seeing how people are doing too. 🙂 It makes the community fun. And I love a good aquarium! Sounds great.

Hope the baby swans come soon!

Your Amazon experience sounds familiar. I ordered something second hand through them and had to cancel, the second hand seller approved the cancelation but Amazon processed it anyway and it came. Not a big deal but I learned a lesson- make sure my cancelations (or whatever) are crossed and dotted lol.

  6. Your outing to Wilmington looks so fun. Glad you both had a good time. I did my weed n feed last week which turned out good because this week jumped temps and got hot for me. Smart of you to hang onto your receipt until the return actually went through (or not, in this case).

    Have a good week, Anne!

  7. I really enjoy finding out what has been going on with everyone during the week, too.

I wish the temperatures would drop 30 degrees here. Not a fan of hot, humid weather.

That Sunday roast chicken dinner sounds tasty!

I am not a fan of chard.

The day trip on Wednesday sounds lovely. I don’t know that I’ve ever been to an aquarium! I kept meaning to go to the one in Long Beach when I was still in L.A. but never made it there. That’s cute that the restaurant had dog meals.

I hope Amazon comes through for you on that return. I’ve always had a great experience with them.

  8. I hope your daughter had a good vacation and break from school and you had a good Mother’s Day celebration on your day trip. It looks like you had fun. I’m jealous of your beach pictures. I love the beach and would love to be visiting one right now. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by my blog.

  9. Lulu looks so happy on that trip! My Lulu is fine with the beach but if the waves are really loud, she wants nothing to do with it. I love that she got her own little meal at the taco place. 🙂 Fish tacos are my favorite!

  10. We’ve had a bunch of up and down temps, too. I don’t think I should put my sweaters away just yet. I haven’t had issues with returns to Amazon, and I order a lot, but good thing you kept your receipt! Hopefully it all gets ironed out. Sounds like you had a great day in Wilmington! It’s nice to enjoy local attractions.

    • Yes it’s nice now for 2 days with a north wind but then it’s a shift and we’ll be in the mid 90s. I order a lot from Amazon I just don’t have returns very often. But I had a batch when we tried to find sandals we liked. We did have really fun beach / aquarium day.

  11. Lulu is adorable and it looks like she is very much enjoying her outing! I love aquariums and have never been to the one in North Carolina. Looks like a fun day! Enjoy your new books and have a great week!

  12. What a great day trip you had. Fun outings, good places to eat, and some beach time. Sounds pretty perfect. 🙂 Funny how you had cooler temps last week and we’re getting hotter than normal temps this week. I’m not ready! lol I always follow up on my returns and make sure they were delivered and that a refund was credited. But it’s a good reminder.

    • Well we are joining you this week in the hotter temps, upper 90s for the next few days but then back to more normal and time to mow the lawn again. lol It was a great trip and almost everything outdoors and we did mask. That’s what is weird about the Amazon thing. I returned it, got the refund but now they are saying they didn’t receive the return. Luckily I have the receipt showing I shipped it. They say it’s done but I’ll believe it after the 22nd when I see they don’t charge me for them.
