The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly  @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.

Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.

Sunday, I woke at 5:30am to barking again.  Lulu seems really shaken by the storms and does not want to be alone in her crate. I took her outside, nothing,  put her back in the crate.  Finally went back to sleep until 9am.  I did the usual visiting blogs.   Today was the FB Chat for Eternal Kiss of Darkness. I always get so much out of the chat.

Monday, more barking.  I had a chiro appt and then did 2 pickups at Wegman’s and Food Lion to get the things I wanted.  Then I got out to mow the lawn, at least the backyard, and pull weeds before it rained. I was trying to do so many things.  I did get bills paid for June. I put in for another RX my daughter needs to refill.

Tuesday,  more barking. I took her out, nothing. It took me another hour to get back to sleep and so then the start to my day was very late.  We’re having scattered showers but cooler temps with a north wind.  I caught up on blog visiting, and worked on a menu plan. I figured out that the $5 Audible sale changes titles every day so the titles I would have bought yesterday are now not available. (:   I’ll have to look at today’s options and decide quickly.  I got the garbage and recycle out and then took Lulu for a longer route walk.  It was good to get out finally.  I also managed to get the front yard mowed.

Wednesday, my daughter was up late enough that I didn’t get the barking wake up.  I managed a bit earlier start to the day.  I wrote a few reviews, and did some blog visiting.  I took Lulu for a walk. I worked on a Series on Saturday post.  I got book mail.

Thursday, I didn’t get up quickly as I had started a new book and couldn’t stop reading it when I woke up.  The barking may be over!  In the afternoon, my daughter had a medical appt and I went to refill the gas tank for the grill.  On the way home, we went to Harris Teeter to pick up her RX and a few items.   We had salads and then I took Lulu to walk.

Friday, today is rainy or supposed to be.  I continue to try to catch up on multiple fronts.  Why do I always feel behind?  I reviewed the last day of audios in the flash sale and found one that completed a series I have.  I listened to my current ARC until I finished; I couldn’t help myself.  More book mail arrived today; I’ve won a few Goodreads giveaways lately.

Saturday,  I got going quickly.  That kind of fell apart when I got on a phone call for almost 3 hours but I needed the house / repair info.  The weather was really great and I finally got out and fertilized some of the plants.  Then I walked Lulu and tried to see what was going on with the swans.   I decided to water the garden since it is going to be around 90F / 32C  and dry for the next 4 days.  The hydrangea I planted last fall is getting ready to bloom!  There are quite a few snow peas and the broccoli is looking good.   We continue to enjoy the lettuce.

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Reading Reality.  These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):

Thanks so much to Atria Books,  AceRoc Books, and Tantor Audio.

This week had a $5 audio flash sale at Audible. Sadly I didn’t realize until the second day they are changing the books each day so I missed out on a couple from the first day.  The last day I got the final one I don’t have in the Unwind series.

I used a bunch of later delivery credits to buy the Jeaniene Frost book.  I chose the mystery/ thriller for my First Reads pick since it is set in Minnesota.  Then I got another credit to help buy the only one in this Kincaid series I don’t already own.  Then I decided to get the rest of the Kaylea Cross series set in North Carolina.

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT  they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

  1. I see that Lulu kept you awake too Anne! We do love them but sometimes pets can be exhausting! Have a great week!

  2. Poor Lulu💜 Storms just unnerve our furry kids. My Bichon used to come up to me (or jump on the bed) during storms. He wasn’t allowed on the bed except during bad storms.

Nice book haul! I’m waiting for the audio version of the Krueger book. I need my David Chandler experience.

    Have a great week, Anne💜

  3. Poor Lulu! My hound mix hates thunderstorms and she will climb us and try to get us to hold her. But, she is 60 lbs and it does not go well! Thankfully, the new puppy doesn’t seem bothered by the storms. We will see how the 4th of July goes!

Poor Lulu… I hope she doesn’t form a habit of waking up and barking. My week was derailed by COVID. First my daughter and then me. Luckily I work from home and my work load is light right now. We both have had milder symptoms including head ache and congestion. So while it made life a bit more complicated, we are doing okay!

  5. Must have been the pets wake the humans early week. My cats got that memo, too. 😉
Good that you got your lawn chores done before the really hot days and neat that your hydrangea is getting ready to flower. Those are so pretty. We did yardwork and got out our summer stuff, too. I missed the Audible sale, but that’s probably a good thing since I have so many already that I need to listen to plus a pile of library listens to keep me busy.
    Have a good week, Anne!

    • Thanks Sophia. lol wake humans early week! It was. I much prefer to do the yardwork in the 70s-80s and with this week in the 90s I want to stay in. I’ll finally get to those August setups! At least it seems to be going every other week between 80s and 90s. I just mowed my lawn 5 days ago and it looks like it could use it again so I think I will cut it one notch shorter next time, at least as long as we are getting some rain during the week. There always seem to be more books I’d like to have. I try to be careful and only buy things I can’t get at the library or easily on KU or something. I do collect my absolute favorites though or a few I can’t get at a library.

  6. I’ve read one of jessie Mihalik’s books and really liked it. Fun space adventure. Sounds like it’s starting to get warm there! We’ve still been pretty mild here, which actually surprises me, but it’s been raining a lot.

    Happy Memorial Day!!

  7. Sounds like a good week on the whole. I’m glad Lulu has calmed down some. The Jessie Mihalik book looks intriguing; one of these days I am going to read her.

I wish Audible would open their sales to nonmembers. I have an Audible account and I buy a fair few audibooks via Amazon’s Whispersync for Voice program, so it irks me that I can’t take advantage of their sales.

    Enjoy the long weekend!

    • yes, well I suppose Audible has to have something just for members. But if you knew when they were having a good sale you could get a 1 or 3 month membership. I always get an annual membership and alternate between the 12 credits or 24 credits in a year. But I buy lots at some of the sales. My renewal is around Black Friday, I think December 1, and I still have 8 credits for this year. I also use credits to gift audiobooks to my blog reads in giveaways too. I LOVE Jessie Mihalik, all the space scifi and a bit of romance too.

  8. Lulu’s barking in the morning reminds me on my cat’s meowing in the morning. She’s an indoor cat so she doesn’t need to go out. She likes the blinds open so she can look outside more easily and so we’ll wake up my husband or me to lift up the blinds, lol. The things we do for our pets, right? I hope you have a good weekend!

  9. Poor Lulu – and poor you having your sleep interrupted! I hope things settle down for you both soon. Your bookish mail looks very exciting – enjoy both those books!

  10. I can relate to the barking wake up only because I wake up to a cat scratching at my closet door and if that doesn’t work she’ll come and scratch at whatever part of ME is uncovered. Sounds like Lulu’s barking is storm related and may be over though, so that’s good. Mine is just cat related and will not go away. LOL

Glad you figured out the trick to the audio book sale!

  11. Aw I hope Lulu has a better week!

Our lettuce is doing awesome as well, and we have been enjoying our homegrown salads. 🙂 I can’t wait for the tomatoes to start coming in! One of my favorite YouTubers always says “Grocery store tomatoes taste like disappointment” and while I don’t go that far, they are definitely not as flavorful as veggies fresh from the garden!

  12. I always feel like I am behind as well. One of our dogs is terrified of storms so when we get thunder and lightning, we do not get to sleep. Another one of my dogs barks whenever she hears a noise and with our daughter being home from college and staying up later, we sometimes get barking over that. Nice book mail! I am looking forward to both of those books. I hope that you have a great week!

  13. My dog sleeps in his own bed on the floor next to my bed. When we first got him he had a gate with a doggie door that the owner gave us. He hated sleeping in there alone and would bark. But as soon as he was allowed in the room with us he was fine.

  14. I always feel like if I get caught up on one thing I get farther behind on everything else. It’s a bit of an endless cycle! Poor Lulu and poor you with the losing sleep. I hope she settles down soon. Have a wonderful week!

  15. Poor Lulu! Have you ever tried a Thundershirt on her? I hear they work well for dogs with anxiety over storms. You got an ARC of Eclipse the Moon? Jealous! I can’t wait to read that one!

  16. I’m kind of jealous of all those storms and showers. I love a good thunderstorm. Now that hurricane season has started I’m sure I’ll get plenty. That’s nice about the Goodreads wins. It’s been ages since I won anything from Goodreads. We had a delicious steak salad on Sunday night that was a big hit. The recipe included a homemade buttermilk ranch dressing and we all loved it. Definitely a keeper.

    • I enjoy the storm but not when the power goes out for more than a short time. This week is back to 90s and no rain. Thankfully it’s going to go back into the 80s over the weekend and then heat up again later next week. I need those 80s so I can get the lawn mowed! The salad does sound delicious and I love ranch dressing.
