The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly  @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.

Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.

Sunday,  I got up a little earlier than usual, but not early.  I wasn’t hungry so I didn’t eat. I just cleaned up the kitchen.  Three hours later I went to make myself some eggs. I did more kitchen cleanup though, and reorganized a few things in the kitchen which should work much better.  I need to make a meal plan, again. I did make a new Chicken Wild Rice soup last night which we both really liked so now I have 3 versions of soup my daughter likes. I setup some posts, wrote some reviews, edited and scheduled some posts.   We ate some leftovers for dinner and watched an episode of Worst Cooks.

Monday,  Lulu and I went to pickup our Wegmans curbside order.   I still haven’t finished the menu plan but I got ingredients to make one of the things my daughter requested.  After putting the groceries away,  I did finish the menu plan. I created some posts and took care of one giveaway winner.  After dinner, I managed to take Lulu on a bit longer walk, but it’s still hot.

Tuesday,  it was supposed to rain this afternoon, but didn’t.  I finished up some posts to schedule, and worked on the upcoming Read-along posts. It was hotter than usual. I talked to my ex about this fall’s schedule for our daughter visiting him and attending her first cousin’s wedding.  I still walked Lulu after dinner but it was still really hot.  I was going to water but I forgot.  I set up the new air purifier in my room.

Wednesday, I got going pretty quickly.  I set the second air purifier in our office. I watered the flowers, unloaded the dishwasher, and started laundry. Today was the last day to use an Audible coupon so I chose an item from my wish list.  I took my daughter to her chiro appt. I took an Amazon return to UPS, then picked up a few things at Aldi.  Lulu decided we needed all her toys and brought them upstairs to us.

Thursday,  I had the whole day to be at home.  I finished up an audio at bedtime and an ebook when I woke up today.  So I have to start all the new books which can be challenging.  There is a heat advisory and also maybe thunderstorms, but it is cloudy and feels fine at noon.  I watered the flowers, pulled some weeds.  I also went thru some Amazon stuff arriving to get it to where it needs to go.  I had done all the usual tasks and it was pretty early in the afternoon.  I looked forward to writing some reviews and even getting ahead on some small projects. Nope, the Internet went down.  I did my usual software diagnostics, tried both Wifi and Ethernet cable, another computer, rebooted the router.  Then called my provider which took about an hour to get through.  We rebooted the router again and then it worked so I’m not sure what happened exactly.  But I’m glad it’s working, although that’s a couple hours lost.  We tried two new shows over dinner – Iron Chef and Chopped.  I didn’t care for Iron Chef.    I did start both a new audio and a new ebook today and that went well.  Sometimes, it’s hard to start a new book until I get into it.  I hung new little solar lights I bought Prime Day on the fence since my daughter asked for more light in the yard but I don’t know that it will be what she wants.

Friday, I got a good start today but it’s hot.  I feel like a broken record.  I did finally get back to the sweater I am knitting Lulu.  I knitted a couple of rows earlier in the week.  I only have about 4 inches left.  I started making it about 15 months ago but then Lulu changed weight and I wasn’t sure if it would fit. She’s lost weight and it was 90% finished so I might as well finish it up.  I updated the linkys in the COYER and Library Love for July and wrote a review.  I made a batch of food for Lulu.  After dinner, I finally finished Lulu’s sweater. She liked it.

Saturday,  I love Saturday where I am still busy but more than any other day I can do things in my own order.  I started by updating Ravelry and looking at knitting projects to see what I might do next.  I set up some posts for a couple of audio ARCs I got yesterday. My daughter and I talked about our next knitting projects. I’m going to make her some fingerless gloves.

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Marlene at  Reading Reality.  These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):

My grateful thanks to Minotaur Books,  Brilliance Audio, and Penguin Audio.

(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)

I bought these books with my Prime No Rush reward credits.

I bought this for $3 utilizing a $7 coupon from the last Audible sale.

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT  they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

  1. I thought I was going to have to do an Amazon return this week as well. I had not received my package. There seems to be three methods in receiving packages. One is to place package in locked box beneath our mail boxes. One is door delivery and one is random stranger in building delivering straight to our box because they found it downstairs.

  2. Oh my goodness Lulu in her little sweater!!!! So much adorable right there!! It sounds like you had a pretty good week despite the heat. It was disgusting here too, heat advisories and muggy. It rained hard last night, so I am hoping this week is better.

    • Thanks Tammy. Our temperatures have been fairly typical, at least for the 7 years I have lived in NC. It’s just hot in July and most of August. The amount of rain is what makes it a bit different both in humidity and how much watering I have to do so everything doesn’t die.

  3. “Hot” has been the theme this week, hasn’t it? Weatherwise, at least. I haven’t left the house except to get the mail, but I have to go out today, for a Spinners and Weavers Guild event. (Indoors, thankfully — though I will be wearing a mask.) I hope this week cools off a little, but it’s not looking hopeful except for Tuesday. Have a good week despite the heat, and I hope all three of you can stay cool!

    • It clouded up in the late afternoon and we got just sprinkles but cooled down enough Lulu got a half walk right before dark. I can’t wait for the days with longer walks again. The only day we have to go out for my daughter to see the eye doctor is Tuesday, otherwise we can stay in.

  4. I can’t wait for In The Pines! I thought the series was over after A Merciful Promise. Enjoy your reads!

  5. Lulu looks so cute in her sweater. 😀 I love to knit and crochet, but I haven’t since December. I need to work on some projects because I miss it. I hope you have a great week.

  6. {squeals} Ooooo look at that cute little doggie!!!! She has some really cute toys and that sweater is quite fetching.

Ugh…Sunday is half over and I haven’t even started my meal plan, let alone go grocery shopping!

Fingerless gloves will be nice this winter!

    • Lulu is the cutest! She’s always been really good about only chewing her own toys; she is really just very smart. My daughter has always wanted a pair of fingerless gloves, so that’s my next project. I have to do my menu plan since we will be out Tuesday, that will be the grocery pickup.

  7. I’m not a foodie at all but my husband is. He likes to watch The Food Network when he can. Even I like Chopped. I don’t care for Iron Chef or Iron Chef America though.

Lulu’s sweater is cute! I bet your daughter will like the fingerless gloves. I love wearing them on cold days when I’m on my computer. I even had a pair I used to wear at work because it was always cold in my basement office.

    Enjoy your week!

  8. It is really hot. I know my electric bill will be high this month! It sounds like you had a busy week. We have been trying to wait to walk the dogs until later when the sun isn’t so hot. I have had luck with Grace Hamilton’s books in the past. Have a great week!

  9. I love a good soup! And I always hate it when the connection goes down., Which seems to happen more and more- at least around here. I do like solar lights- I want to get some.

So… The Pines looks good! I’ve been reading a lot of thrillers lately. Tense reads appeal to me these days I suppose!

    • I know what you mean. I have like 170 projects in my queue. I have yarn I ordered last spring with specific ideas how I wanted to use it and now I can’t remember, other than the fingerless gloves. Sigh. After that my daughter and I are going to make the Boxy sweaters by JoJo Locatelli. My daughter has never made a sweater.

  10. It has been super hot, but like where you live the rest of the year is nice here. Although, winter can be a wildcard here. I guess we’ll see, but I’m excited to have the seasons here!

I want that Kendra Elliot, but I’ll have to wait until it’s out on Kindle Unlimited. When I click on it and a bunch of other Montlake titles it says “not available to request but you can wish for it” which means no, you’ll never get it! I don’t care since I have KU and then I don’t have to write a review. I hope it cools down for me and you! 🙂

    • Thanks Rachel. 10 months of the year here are awesome but July and August are just HOT. It’s not any worse than any other year but all I can think is HOT I don’t want to go outside. It’s odd how one clicks with some publishers and not with others. I’m auto approved by Montlake so I can get any of their titles. Many other publishers send me emails with widgets or usually approve me. But Avon and anything on Edelweiss generally hates me. ?? And I’m good with most audio publishers except Hachette who although I know the contact and she follows me on Twitter, won’t send me emails. ??? I try really hard to always review everything I request on a timely basis. I have KU as there are lots of things I want to try which are there. Unfortunately I do a horrible job of keeping track of things going in and out and miss some of them.

  11. I love all the Lulu updates – especially her bringing her toys to you and her sweater! So frustrating about the internet situation. Anytime I have technical issues it’s always when I have scheduled out time to get online stuff done! I need to get back to the Paige Shelton series. I read one book and really liked it but never read any more. Have a wonderful week!

    • Thank you Katherine. Lulu is so fun and smart. She loves her sweaters and toys. I am sad to think she was neglected before we got her. She is so sweet and so grateful for things and eager to please us. Whenever I think I’m going to get some things accomplished some new problem happens with the computer or the fridge not making ice or whatever. I just have to fix it and move on because that’s how it works. I like Paige Shelton books because although it is sometimes quirky they also have good character and plot development. It’s not just quirky to be ridiculous.

  12. I usually do my menu/meal plans on Sunday but this past weekend got away from me. I still need to do that tonight. The chicken wild rice soup sound delish! The outside lights sound pretty. I’m so impressed with your knitting skills. I’ve tried knitting and crochet before but just didn’t taken to it. I imagine if I had more patience and practiced maybe I could have improved but I felt rather hopeless at it. 😊

    • Thank you Tanya. I can knit but I also can get frustrated with a project and just set it aside for a few years. I could do complex things but prefer simpler things that are seamless or in the round. I sometimes have success in adapting patterns that way or for different weight yarns and other times I forget some detail when I should know better and mess it up. I knit a bunch of sweaters and most of them are too hot for North Carolina. Also at one point I lost weight so I unravelled and reknit them and now I’ve gained weight again. So currently I’m making more things which aren’t weight dependent or use lighter weight yarn. dog sweaters, shawls, hats, socks, blankets, scarves and cowls. It’s an adjustment in thought process. I can also crochet but don’t like it as well for clothing. I did go to a weekly knitting group in Minnesota for about 10 years with many master knitters who I felt like nothing next to them. I did learn some things though. They were nice. I learned from my grandma and I don’t do the throw knitting I do the Continental style and some odd things I just developed myself so it was harder for them to help me.

  13. Jen

Seems funny to be creating sweaters and gloves while it’s so hot outside! But if you waited until it was cold – it’d be too late. My week went quickly. It’s been hot for us this past week. We had friends from HS/College come visit over the weekend. It was hard to find something to do in the heat, but we had folks over for a backyard BBQ which was a lot of fun. This week I’m prepping for our upcoming vacation.

    • yes knitting is a year-round thing although some garments are used only when it is colder. But I use shawls or shrugs in the summer when in a highly air-conditioned place. I wear the knit socks year round and use the blankets. I hope your vacation goes well and everyone stays healthy.

  14. Sorry if I missed it, but what’s your Ravelry username? I’m spajonas over there. 🙂 I love that Lulu goes on errands with you. She must like the car. My Lulu hates the car so I only take her places when she has to be somewhere.

    • I don’t think I said since most aren’t interested. My Ravelry name is Northwomn (no a) the same as my personal Twitter. I have a mix of projects that succeeded and some that did not. Lulu does seem fine with the car but very excited. When she travels with us, she often eats less and is completely exhausted after a day of car travel where she tried to see EVERYTHING.
