The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly  @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week, and showcase books and things we have received.

Don’t forget to look at my giveaways on the right sidebar.

Sunday, the temperature has dropped almost 15 degrees since yesterday. The high will be around 47F / 8C and it’s definitely freezing at night.  Luckily it will warm back up again more to average the rest of the week.  I got an early start to blog visiting and writing reviews today.  Lulu came to tell me she needed attention or it is time to go out (it was) or time to eat (not yet).

Monday, it’s warmed up a bit and will continue into the 50s-60s this week. My daughter still hadn’t gone to sleep for Sunday night at 10am.  I tried the grill with the other tank and it didn’t work.  I took Lulu for a walk a bit earlier.  Then the power went out. The same utility jerks who broke the water last week.  Luckily, we have a gas stove so I could pan fry some meat and steam some veggies.  Also, we got to try out the little LED lanterns I bought in October to replace the older camping lanterns we had.  They work great.  It was dark and cold, so we just went to bed early.

Tuesday, I didn’t sleep well even though the power came on later last night.  I feel discombobulated.  Lulu and I walked a shorter hilly route in the opposite direction from where the utility guys have torn up all the sidewalk.

Wednesday,  I was able to get going on the usual stuff.  I wrote some reviews.  I took my daughter to the chiro and I went to Aldi’s for just a couple items.  Then we walked Lulu.  I got book mail from a Goodreads giveaway.

Thursday, I did some of the usual computer things.  The weather was cloudy but around 60F /16C and it was time to battle the leaves in the back yard.  I did also cut the peonies to the ground since it froze this past week, and trim all the edges by the fence and blocks which really should have happened a month ago.  I used the leaf eater and managed about 2/3 of the yard, also uncovering lots of dog poop.  I picked up the poop and mowed all of the yard I did the leaf eating.  The chewed up leaves went into compost bins. I took a second shower and finalized the blog posts for the next two days before starting on dinner. We had our soup, rolls, creamed corn, green bean casserole and apple pie.  My daughter isn’t really a fan of turkey so I used leftover rotisserie chicken in the soup.

Friday,  it was supposed to be rainy but cleared up by mid day.  I still thought it was too wet to finish leaves until tomorrow.  I took a photo of the standard dwarf bearded iris blooming.  The snow peas and broccoli are doing well.  I worked on lots of posts and setups for the blog.  Lulu and I walked the longest route.

Saturday,  I could hear my daughter banging around in the kitchen from 4-6 am, then she went to bed and Lulu started barking .  I let her out, she very reluctantly went back in her crate,  and then I went back to sleep for a couple hours..  I did a bunch of post setups for the 2023 Library Love posts with challenges and giveaways.   I went out into the yard though to finish the leaf cleanup and mowing before it rains again.  Lulu supervised.  Then I was a mess so I showered. There was a bit more computer work to finish before dinner. Lulu is sitting up just like her picture above saying it’s time for dinner.

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Marlene at  Reading Reality.  These are the exciting ARCs I received this week (If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry):

My special thanks to Valentine PR and Elizabeth Hunter,    William Morrow/ Harper Voyager,   Montlake,  Brilliance Audio,   and St. Martin’s Press.

(If you click on the cover, it will take you to the Goodreads entry)

I bought this set of 4 mysteries partially with a no rush rewards credit.  Then I got another Miss Marple on sale at Chirp (same price at Audible too) $6.  I guess I’m on a historical mystery spree this weekend.

Now the really scary one. This is all the Kindle and Audible freebies I grabbed this past week. You can see why I need to do Thrifty Thursday to be sure I read a few at least one each month.

I really meant to cut back on freebies BUT  they are free so I guess that won’t be happening.

I’m not including things like reviews posted or upcoming as they are always in the right sidebar. And, my challenge status is also there.

    • Thank you Terrie. Some of those ARCs are June or July. One is December but I had saved the slot, knowing it was releasing. I often have to save slots because indies or audiobooks are often only available much closer to release dates. But schedules and juggling them is one of my things.

    • It’s a good little mystery series, not as complex as some I read, a bit more like a cozy. It’s set in a small town in Alaska. The main character is a famous author. This is the 4th book in the series and I would read them in order because lots happens. But they are slightly shorter than most books.

  1. You’ve collected some great books this week and I hope that you enjoy them all! We just had a good wind and rainstorm last evening so I’m just waiting for things to dry out a bit before raking the last of our leaves. Have a great week ahead!

  2. Sounds like a nice, quiet Thanksgiving. We had a traditional TG meal complete with turkey, which means we’ll have leftovers probably through Tuesday at least. Which is good; it means I don’t need to cook on the last few days of NaNoWriMo.

You did a lot of yard work this week! My husband blowed the leaves off the drive and lawn last weekend. (We dump them in the wooded part of our lot.) Today, it’s too wet to do anything outside.

Lulu is so cute. I always love your photos of her.

  3. It sounds like a wonderful Thanksgiving. I like small events, simple and relaxed. 🙂 We forgot to take the turkey out on time so we ended up having sandwiches! Lol.

I’m going to check out Hartford Homestead!

  4. I don’t know what it is with the utility guys here either. Actually, I do. they were installing aT&T fiber and tore up everyone’s yards and part of the sidewalks too. I kept waiting for us to lose service and miraculously we didn’t. They had holes and trenches everywhere. I know that’s not the same as a power outage but it’s always something. 🙂

We had greenbean casserole too and can you believe I never even got to it? Even days later? We have so much food. although actually the leftovers are mostly gone now, after today’s lunch, so maybe I’ll have some GBC tonight.

    Hope you’re having a nice day 🙂

    • Thank you Greg. I’m behind this week. The utility jerks are back. It was the water outage the first week and the power last week so I’m on edge for utility losses. Of course, they are now right across the street and noisy. I tried to get more gluten-free fried onions at Aldi but they are already gone. Maybe I can get some at Wegmans next week. I did keep buying cranberries and freezing them because they are hard to get after the holidays.

  5. We mulched the last of our leaves and got up some more dead brush, cleared the weeds that were coming through the fence from the neighbors, and took down the outside fall decorations since Friday after Thanksgiving was such a lovely sunny day near 50. Too bad you had trouble with the power from the water dept work going on. Nice going getting to some of the 2023 challenge posts. I didn’t want to eat leftovers from Thanksgiving the last few days, but we’ll have it tonight since I’m feeling low on energy. Yay for the GR book win. I got the new Kendra Elliott, too.

    Have a good week, Anne!

  6. Ann

That iris looks pretty. I dug all of mine up and give them to some people I know that will give them a new home.
    Have a great week.

  7. The weather was nice for us this last week too, Anne, but we’re cooling off a quite a bit this next week. Funny you mention it, but I was on total leaf duty today as well! I’ve been raking up so many leaves and using the blower too! I’m worn out today! I need this leaf eater you’re talking about. I’d like to make use of them and cover over areas with the freezing temps to insulate. Your bearded iris is pretty. I didn’t think about it but I guess I can grow peonies out here. It was always too warm in Southern California. I need to investigate. I hope to do a rose garden in the spring. A fenced in garden area where I can grow roses and other flowers that deer would normally make impossible. I have to get my watering lines all dug before and the layout planned. More work, but I love absolutely love roses and being able to snip fresh flowers for the house.

I didn’t know about that new Kendra Elliot. I need to check it out. I enjoy her Mercy Kilpatrick series and I hope it’s more of that.

    • Thanks Rachel. I enjoy the garden planning too. We’ve had a little rain over the last week and I think now the leaves are all down and with one more round I’ll be done with it. My leaf blower is part of my Greenworks electric like my lawnmower. The leaf eater that pulverizes the leaves into small bits is a Black & Decker and it is corded. It’s old, one of my first yard power tools. It goes into a bag and then I empty the bag into a compost bin. I got it on Amazon. I wonder if anybody has a battery one now. It can be used as a collector or blower but since I have the separate Greenworks blower I only use it as a leaf eater. The Kendra Elliot is the Bree Taggert series which I love.

  8. Glad to hear you got your power back. That always throws me for such a loop. Your Thanksgiving meal sounds like it was really good. Yay for getting that Katherine Center ARC. That’s one of my most anticipated reads for 2023!

    • Lulu is the center of our lives and certainly our photo lives here. It’s a reblooming standard dwarf bearded iris. They must be divided every 3-4 years and next April is probably the time. You do it right after they bloom or August. You live close enough I could share some with you. I’ve finished the Wyer book and enjoyed it.

  9. Since we were buddy reading last week, I feel like I kept up with what was going on! I did have a wonderful 5 days off and did a good mix of chores and relaxing. My daughter had to work Wed, Friday, Sat, and Sunday, so we didn’t watch as much TV and movies as we normally do over the holiday weekend. The week ahead looks to be more “normal.”

  10. My husband is reading Agatha Christie’s Sleeping Murder right now and really enjoying it. I hope you enjoy all of these when you get a chance to read them. Have a great week!

  11. I’m glad your power came back. It’s gotten so cold here also and with the time change I’m still trying to adjust. Happy reading to you and Lulu this week. I used to read a lot of Agatha Christie, her books are so good.

  12. It sounds like you had another busy week! I am with your daughter. I can and will eat turkey but I would rather have something else. Lots of great-looking new books this week! I hope you are having a great week, Anne!

  13. You had a brief taste of sold cold temps last week! We did ,too, early last week, but by Thanksgiving it was back into the mid-70’s… and it’s 80 today. I keep saying I’m going to try something by Katherine Center but it hasn’t happened yet. Baden is one that I loved. It really took me surprise and I’ve been enjoying each book in the series as they release.

  14. Sounds like a lovely Thanksgiving! I’m with your daughter on not loving turkey but everyone else likes it so much I give in for Thanksgiving though I do insist on ham at Christmas! Sleeping Murder is one of my favorite Christies. I hope you love it if it’s a new read for you! I hope you are having a wonderful week.
